Wonderful, easy-to-understand translation of the Bible
I purchased this particular bible based upon "Power for Living"'s praise for the New Living Translation, and the other reviewer who said I'd be glad I bought it in less than a month. They're both right. I'm sorry to say I had never sat down and read the Bible at any great length until now (at age 51). Now I've read most of the New Testament, and plan to finish the whole Book within a year. The "Daily Walk" introductions for the various pieces are very informative and well done. I think anyone who gets this version will be well-pleased.

Great way to the read the bible in a year
A friend recommended this Bible to me. I usually use a NIV Bible and wasn't sure about this translation, but it is wonderful. It is not like the Living Bible where everything is written in more modern terms. It is similar to the NIV only easier to understand.

The Bible is divided so that you read six days and have the seventh day to reflect and/or catch up. Each day's reading begins with a devotion, a synopsis of the reading, things to think about concerning the reading, and suggestions as to how to apply the lessons learned to your everyday life. It is not simply a devotional. It is the complete Bible with thought provoking commentary and simple explanations that anyone can understand. I highly recommend it to anyone...even those who do not desire to read the Bible in a year. It is a great Bible for everyday study and use at church.

Excellent Spiritual Habit Builder
This is my 4th year in going thru this Bible. It has been an excellent tool in helping me be consistent in my quiet times.
The notes (Overview, Your Daily Walk, Insights) are wonderful, filled with lots of great illustrations and insights into the Scriptures.
As a Pastor for 25 years it has been a refreshing well of living water. I've personally purchased and have given away over 40 copies to those I've counseled and discipled. I want everyone in our church to start reading it! You can start any time/date!

The Spirit filled life Bible
I am a pastor of the Foursquare Gospel denomination in Sydney Australia. As a teacher and a preacher of the Word of God I use this Bible and have encouraged my congregation to obtain same. The footnotes, reviews, Word Wealth, that explain the original Hebrew or Greek word, along with Kingdon Dynamics is an excellent tool for any Bible student.

An awesome Bible!
This is not your average Bible! The commentary is spiritually insightful, the "Kingdom Dynamics" are inspiring, the "Truth-In-Action's" are practical, and the "Word Wealth" Hebrew & Greek definitions are a definate plus! Maps, timelines, charts, chapter outlines...my favorite bible ever!

Accessability and depth are key
Jack Hayford has succeded in presenting the Bible in a accessable form for both layman and student. The unique strength of the original Hebrew and Greek manuscripts are presented in 'windows' while you read. The concise but complete concordance and also the references below each page make this single book a cleverly chosen set of tools to gain understanding.

Fabulous Bible!
Every time someone sees my Bible, they want one! Finally, my spiritual guide admired it and I gave up my tattered copy to him. Now I'm replacing it with the exact same one. This Bible has MANY useful study features. "Word Wealth" (for key words) discusses the root of the Hebrew or Greek word and the word's various uses throughout the Bible. There are extensive footnotes on nearly every page giving additional information and background on key verses; the section on God's covenant with Abraham, alone is worth the price of the book. In addition, there are maps, timelines, comparisons of the four Gospels---all in an easy to read format (NKJ version). Each NT book is preceded by a discussion of the authorship---my only complaint is that these discussions don't go deeply enough into this topic. Also, it's a good size: by no means small, but compact enough to haul with you to church. Several scholars teamed on this Bible, which is written to match Hayford's beliefs (I would say that it supports a conserative, not fundamentalist, viewpoint). To better benefit from all the information packed into this Bible, take the time to read the keys and symbols at the front of the book. This Bible is sturdy and well-bound: after several years of regular use, it had experienced no binding problems whatsoever. Overall, a fabulous Bible that you will use for years to come, with study aids that will enlighten and enrich. Strangely, Amazon.com offers seemingly the same hardcover version at 3 different price points, so look for the least expensive (around $27).

Holy Bible New King James Version Spirit=Filled
This has become my favorite Bible. It has study notes written by several present day scholars that present both present knowledge and the opinions of ancient scholars. The New King James Bible is easy to read. The study notes allow the reader to follow up on both a subject and word. In addition through out the text are notes on Hebrew and Greek words and Kingdom dynamics that relate the text to present conditions. I would rate it as the best study bible available today.

Good teaching notes, great word study, and helpful insites.
My Sister was very blessed by this study Bibble. It geve her new insites and strengthed her faith.

A Comprehensive Look at Jacobean England
A very thorough and perceptive analysis of the Reign of James VI of Scotland, later to be James I of England. Patterson's depiction of James as a conciliatory force within British Christendom is well supported in this excellent period history. Articulate and intellectually stimulating.

A Significant Historic Contribution
Dr. Patterson's King James VI and I and the Reunion of Christendom is a significant contribution to the volume of works written about early 17th Century . The work shows that James tried to acheive an ecumenical union among the fractured states of Europe in a century that saw one crisis after another. The incredible amount of research that went into this book is clearly evident. This would make an excellent addition to anyone's library.

Awesome bible for the new believer to the well founded.
This is one of the easiest and most helpful bibles any Spirit Filled believer could own. A majority of our congregation use this bible for our everyday study and church. We sometimes jokingly refer to ourselvesd as the Jack Hayford bible cult.

Amazing.
This bible is great. It shows the original words
and tells you the in-depth meaning. Very
refreshing.

One of the most indepth & informational Bibles ever...
This Bible came highly recommended to me and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! This Bible is packed with so much information and commentaries from world-famous (and not so famous) evangelists, preachers, pastors and teachers. I love the in-depth commentaries and the Greek word translations and also the "Kingdom Dynamics" and "Truth in Action" charts. All these are simple study tools to help anyone looking to understand the Bible more. I felt that I could dig deeper into the Truth. I use it for QT and for reading in general. I enjoy reading these study tools over and over again. Though, at first, I wasn't used to the New King James Version, and it did take some time to get used to. But, this particular Bible with a built in reference tool is very useful to any Christian who wants to study the Word more.

A "Must Have" for Anyone
The Spirit Filled Bible is one of the best Bibles I've ever bought. In fact, I'm on my second one! The Word Wealth, Kingdom Dynamics, Word References, and Study Notes are excellent and very helpful for anyone ranging from a new Christian to a seasoned veteran just looking for something special to treat themselves. This Bible is loaded with lots of extras that are practical, useful, easy to understand guides to help the reader to study and apply the Word to their everyday lives! I love it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good Bible.

Best study Bible!
I love this Bible - I make sure this is the Bible our church gets for our graduation gifts for the seniors every year - it's also the Bible I bought my wife. The print is clear, and it's a durable Bible with lots of accurate notes.

A wealth of info, a great buy!
This study Bible is one of the best versions out there. It is very easy to follow and understand. It has outlines and footnotes that allow you to apply each verse to everyday life.

BEST STUDY BIBLE AVAILABLE
I am a Seminary student and have gone through many study bibles. However, this work by W.A. Criswell is by far the best in the business.

True Christians Believers Beware!
There is an Authorized King James, New King James and King James 2000. The later two versions as well as many other "New Aged" versions are NOT the same. Many passages have been changed, corrupted, even eliminated altogether.

The NKJV is now deceiving more believers than any of the previous polluted modern Bible versions. Claims that the NKJV has "preserved the authority and accuracy," and "improved the purity and beauty" of the original KJV, are impressive but patently false. The NKJV text is actually a hybrid mixture which incorporates many word changes identical with or similar to the corruptions found in the other modern Bible versions. Late editions of the NKJV contain changes in text and footnote from that of the first editions and further changes are contemplated. The NKJV is not the pure Word of God.

EXAMPLES:

MATTHEW 7:14
KJV - "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life..."

NKJV - "Because narrow is the gate and DIFFICULT is the way which leads to life,"

Is the way unto eternal life difficult? No, that is false teaching. The way unto eternal life is "strait," as the KJV says, meaning "constricted, restricted, distressed, narrow, restrained."

MATTHEW 20:20
KJV - "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him..."

NKJV - "Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Him with her sons, KNEELING DOWN..."

This is a wicked change. To kneel is obviously not the same as worship. "Worship" was in Tyndale's translation of 1526. It was in the Matthew's Bible of 1537. It was the Geneva of 1537. It was in the Authorized Version of 1611. Even the English Revised version of 1881 and the American Standard Version of 1901 retained the word "worship." It was the modernistic Revised Standard Version of 1952 which changed to "kneeling." Now the NKJV editors follow this same wicked error.

1 CORINTHIANS 1:18
KJV - "... but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

NKJV - "... but to us who are BEING SAVED it is the power of God..."

This unnecessary change corrupts the doctrine of salvation and conforms to the heretics who teach that salvation is a process.

PHILIPPIANS 2:6
KJV - "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God."

NKJV - "Who, being in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped."

This unnecessary change conforms to the doctrine of heretics who teach that Christ was not God.

HEBREWS 2:16
KJV - "For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham."

NKJV - "For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham."

This verse properly translated deals with the nature of Christ's incarnation, but the complete and unnecessary change in the NKJV renders it meaningless.

HEBREWS 3:16
KJV - "For some, when they had heard did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses."

NKJV - "For who having heard rebelled? Indeed, WAS IT NOT ALL who came out of Egypt led by Moses?"

The NKJV make this verse to say something directly contrary to the KJV and to the Old Testament. The Bible plainly says that not all of the Israelites rebelled against God, but the NKJV creates a contradiction.

HEBREWS 10:14
KJV - "For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."

NKJV - "For by one offering He has perfected forever, those WHO ARE BEING sanctified."

This unnecessary change in the NKJV conforms to heretical gospels, such as that taught by Rome, which claim that salvation is a sacramental process. The NKJV completely destroys the beauty and power of this verse, that through the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus Christ the believer is perfected and sanctified forever. This verse properly translated, as in the KJV, defeats false views of salvation. The NKJV, on the other hand, creates confusion. If Christ's offering gives eternal perfection, as the first half of the verse claims, why does the rest of the verse say that we are BEING saved? It is confusion and error.

IN CONCLUSION:

These FEW examples are just the tip of the iceberg where bible translation corruption's are concerned. I would strongly suggest that you further research the differences between Bible versions BEFORE wasting money on this or any similar book.

BOTTOM LINE;
If the Bible translation is anything other than the "AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION", than it is NOT the TRUE word of God.

But hey, don't trust my word, look it up the corruptions for yourself!!!!!!

A Good Study Bible
I've found this Bible to be very useful in study of the
Holy Bible, particularly the explanatory footnotes and
cross referencing.

FYI - This Bible has been re-titled "The Holy Bible - Baptist
Study Edition" and is in current publication by Thomas
Nelson publishers.

THE BEST STUDY BIBLE EVER
The Believer's Study Bible is the best Study Bible that I have ever had the privilege to use. The book introductions, study notes, and charts are most helpful in clarifying things that might otherwise be difficult to understand. I've shared information from this Bible with students in my Sunday Bible Study Class. I've given this Bible as gifts to friends and to my husband, who is a pastor. All agree that this book contains a wealth of good, useful information that is normally found only in reference books. I have used other Study Bibles, but always return to The Believer's Study Bible. In fact, my own Bible is well worn and in need of a new binding.

I strongly urge Nelson to bring back this Bible. There is none that can compare to its quality in information anywhere!

WARNING! THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER'S BIBLE!
The Companion Bible is quite possibly one of the best study Bibles on the market. However, the marginal notes and the 198 appendices by E.W. Bullinger contain a tremendous amount of complex and controversial material that may be overwhelming to the beginning Bible student and for those who are babes in Christ. Those interested in purchasing this Bible should have a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance on hand and do some research on E. W. Bullinger. Most of all, pray for God's guidance. In addition, the print in this edition is VERY SMALL. This is especially true of the marginal notes and the 198 appendices. I suggest that you get the LARGE PRINT edition.

This beautiful reference work is excellent .
In this generation where technology abounds and biblical works are polluted with man's traditions, I am glad to see that a great work such as the Companion Bible by E.W. Bullinger remains unchanged. Of course, there may be very small flaws in this work but we must remember that the author was not privy to the prophecy that has taken place since its' writing. To the beginning christian, this work offers a great amount of knowledge in providing you a plan on how to study our Fathers word as well as providing a excellent study on the meaning of hebrew, chaldea, and greek words that have different meanings than what the english rendition would have you to believe. To the in depth student or scholar it provides a excellent source for studying the languages and meanings since it brings in to play text from the MASSORAH and figures of speech that are sometimes misunderstood. It also provides a section of appendixes which are rich in research and information from the only CHRISTIAN SCHOLAR that GINSBERG allowed to proof read the MASSORAH. Take it from a student and a follower of our Fathers word when I tell you that this work along with a good Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible is invaluable. It is like having a set of the original manuscripts that our Fathers word was translated from. God Bless you all.

A Deeper Study into God's Word
This particular Bible is the work of a scholar and its contents reflect this. While very satisfying for those who want to delve deep into the scriptures, it may be a bit overwhelming to those who prefer 'lighter' reading (in which case, I would recommend The New Jerusalem Bible or The Amplified Bible). The Companion Bible contains the complete KJV with very insightful marginal notes that contain gems of information such as breaking back words to their original Hebrew or Greek meaning, and important Old Testament readings are given according to Dr. Ginsburg's Massoretico-Critical Text of the Hebrew Bible. Also within these marginal notes Figures of Speech are noted, the spiritual significance of Numbers is pointed out, and the meanings of names of persons or places is given. The 198 Appendixes contain a wealth of information which is worth getting this Bible for just in itself. The appendixes include in-depth studies on such subjects as:- The Divine Names and Titles- Creation versus Evolution- Figures of Speech- The Spiritual Significance of Numbers- The Serpent of Gen. 3- The Nephilim of Gen. 6- The Massorah- "The Foundation of the World"- The Alleged "Corruptions" of the Hebrew Text. This Bible is a 'must-have' for anyone seeking to increase their knowledge on an academic, historical and/or spiritual level.
