Very beautiful
I had four children over a period of ten years, when, frankly, it wasn't fashionable. Realising now that I and my wife have "done our bit" to raise the census count now, we tend to look back very rarely on that period when they were all crawling about or demanding room service...

It's rather sad that while that period is going on, you rarely find people who will barge into the house and actually tell you the truth - that in all this haze of nappies, late nights, worry, and occasional delight, that this period is unreplaceable, precious, and if you look out of the corner of your eye, more than wonderful. Babies are one thing, I guess according to one set of people, but a parallel reality grants them quite incredible powers - they are magical creatures, impossible, fantastic, wise, full of joy and splendour.

This book made me look in precisely that direction - towards the rather long time ago of my own tinies, and I was immensely moved by the memories I had put away of my babies learning every little ordinary thing. And the art is just right and it's all magic.

I had to look the other way, my eyes were rather wet when I finally looked away, and of course I bought it. I'm not sure why, because my babies are now quite big, but I caught my girls reading it, and perhaps it's going to be for their babies, one day in the far distance!

The Sweetest Book
This book is so sweet and beautifully illustrated; It was on a shelf at our local library in the "New Books" section. I picked it up to read to my 20 month old daughter and proceeded to burst into tears! This could have been written about her; all of baby's 1st year milestones are recorded in harmony with nature. It is a simple and charming story. I will buy this book and save it for my little girl - so she can read about herself when she is grown!

Oh, I really do like this one
Actually, I wept. I shouldn't say this, but I have four children and been through the business of nappies and late nights and I stood in the bookshop and just could not hold back the tears. It is so lovely. I have not illusions about it being tough being a dad nowadays, but this book is so simple, and shows the beauty and majesty of creation through these beautiful creatures.

Babies... everything they do is wonderful or impossible, or ridiculous, and the book shows you to value everything that is fatherhood, and being a created being.

My wife told me I was silly. She's probably right, but who cares? I am in awe of something greater than me and in love with love.

Elegant, unique, and enthusiastically recommended
Featuring more than 200 recipes, A Celebration Of Herbs: Recipes From The Huntington Herb Garden is the culinary collaboration of Huntington Library volunteers, staff, and scholars under the skillful editorship of herb expert Shirley Kerins and Peggy Park Bernal. Featuring a full range of dishes from appetizers, salads, side dishes, soups and breads, to entrees, preserves, desserts, and beverages, A Celebration Of Herbs is enhanced with excerpts and illustrations drawn from the Huntington Library's collection of rare herbals and botanical books from the 15th to the 18th century. A Celebration Of Herbs is an elegant, unique, and enthusiastically recommended addition to personal, professional, and community library Cookbook Collections.

OUR SAGE ADVICE: BUY. EAT UP. COOK. EAT UP AGAIN.
So much more than a cook's tool, this treasury is a welcome delight --- a well conceived, beautifully illustrated resoruce that's part cookbook, part history book. We thought we knew all there was to know about herbs: rosemary, dill, sage and sometimes tarragon. What we learned will serve us well, especially in those things we serve up in the kitchen. Released by the folks at the Huntington Library and Art Gallery in California, the book includes information on growing herbs, mail sources on where to buy fresh and dried herbs, and, of course, recipes --- brpken down by type, such as appetizers, main courses, jams and jellies, breads, beverages --- that will send you zooming to the nearest [store]. The stunning color illustrations are from Elizabeth Blackwell's 1737 book, "A Curious Herbal," a gem that's housed in the Huntington's rare book department. A celebration, indeed!

Gorgeous herb cookbook
The last thing I needed was another cookbook (I have a whole bookshelf full!), but this one was just too beautiful to resist. And in its own way, this book is different from any other herb cookbook I've seen before. Just as you'd expect, there are extensive notes about how to grow herbs and use them in cooking. But rather than showing photos of herbs, this beautiful coffee-table-type book has reprints of colorful botanical illustrations from the 18th century. The recipes are of course very tempting, from yummy herbed cream cheese dips to more elaborate dishes like salmon in basil cream or rack of lamb rubbed with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. I was skeptical about the apple rosemary tarte tatin recipe, but it turned out to be wonderful. Highly recommended as a cookbook, especially if you enjoy reading about herbs.

Excellent book.
This is the only stickpin book I am aware of, and I don't believe there needs to be another one. Great for stickpin collectors, jewelry enthusiasts, etc. Highly recommended!

Interesting and Informative for the Collector!
As a collector of all stickpins, I gained much knowledge from this book. It covers many catagories and types of stickpins and scarfpins from all eras prior to the 1940s. It was also fun to just see the quality pictures of this lady's collection. To a collector or dealer, this book will be well worth the price. I refer to it again and again.

A great giggle!
I read this to my kindergarten class. We all loved it. The story kept their attention and they enjoyed looking for the little yellow bird in a different spot on each page. The ending is delightful. This book has fun repetitive verse, which lets the kids enjoy voicing the words with the reader. Great fun. The children are drawing names to see who takes it home next.

Rebirth
Frances Hodgson was very fond of her own family garden, but when her family moved to the center of Manchester, she began to write stories as a way to escape the ugliness of her surroundings. She was inspired by the old rose garden at Great Maytham Hall in Kent, England, her second home.

In this story, Mary Lennox is living in India when cholera takes the life of her parents. She then travels to England to live with her uncle at Misselthwaite Manor on the edge of the bleak Yorkshire moors.

Mary is used to being waited on hand and foot and she soon starts to feel lonely and becomes very unhappy living in a manor filled with a maze of dark passageways and tapestry walls.

Soon she ventures outside and finds the key to the hidden door of the locked garden which has been shut up for over ten years. Once Mary meets Dickon she tells him she has: "stolen a garden."

"When Mary entered the secret garden she found Dickon already kneeling on the grass working hard. "Oh, Dickon! Dickon!" She said. I'm so happy I can scarcely breathe." They ran from one part of the garden to another and found so many wonders that they had to remind themselves that they must be quiet. There was every joy on earth in the secret garden that morning, and then came the most delightful surprise of all. Swiftly something flew across the wall and darted through the trees to an overgrown corner." Pg. 33

Soon she finds another project. The rather spoiled Colin, who is crying pitifully. Mary bewitches him and soon he is reading pictures books. Dickon also becomes a friend and soon the three of them are out in the garden teaching Colin to walk again.

A story about how one person can change the world they live in for the better.

The 1993 Secret Garden movie: ASIN: 0790720434
is the best one I have seen so far.

EMS
A friend turned me on to this book. He's a paramedic, but I've never been on an ambulance before. I loved it! I never thought I would laugh so hard. The opening memorial for his friend killed in the World Trade Center was a real tear jerker. I thought the whole book would be like that, but I was wrong. I was crying from laughter halfway through the book. A must read for anyone who's interested in knowing more about EMS.

Definite Must!
An EMT student of mine showed me a copy of this book so I had to order one. I haven't laughed so hard in awhile. Devin's honesty and eye for detail kept me hooked. It's refreshing to see someone who loves his job so much. I'm unofficially making this a mandatory read for all my new EMT students.

EMS The Job Of Your Life IS A MUST READ!
My wife got this book for me. I just finished my EMT schooling and was looking for a job when I started reading the book. This book is so great if your in a emt/paramedic program or even if you just like listening about extremely interesting, gross, and funny things that your emergency workers go threw. I am extremely happy to finally see a book out there thats not about cops or fire fighters, which mind you are bolth respectable excellent careers. but It seems like they get all the credit now a days. I am so glad Devin Kerins wrote a book to let people know what the emt's and paramedics of your city's ambulance crews adventures, and lives are like. unfortunately they are usually very under appreciated. I have made 4 people read it so far! A MUST READ! AWSOME BOOK!

A good book...
I'm a MBA student in marketing. This book is good, but just that... good. I'm absolutely certain that somewhere has to be a book about strategic marketing that has a little more information (that's the problem, little theory and plenty of numbers) and not so expensive. Teresa M. Rodríguez

Great and comprehensive
I am a MBA Candidate with a finance focus who had the pleasure to use this book. Never before had I imagined that marketing could have the amount of numerical focus that this book shows. There's a case for every type of industry and many world-famous companies in this book. What else is missing from an introduction to marketing text?!
