This book, and this is not a stretch of the truth, literally changed the course of my college education. I was political science major a few years back when I took a politics and media course. Professor Kerbel's book was one of several we read. Kerbel does a masterful job of what can be a dry subject. Kerbel hits all the relevant theory and still keeps the narrative moving. This book can be read by a student or someone with a interest in politics or the media. It literally changed the way I view media coverage of politics. Because of this book, I spent a summer at CNN and wrote my thesis on this topic. A tour de force!

I read this book after Kerbel's first. While it is not as strong the first book, it is still an excellent book. Kerbel tackles a tough topic here. He covers it well and gives the reader an terrific introduction to a tough topic. It is more readable than most political science texts. It really keeps you interested and enlightened.
