These seventeen short stories run the gamut from 1904 to 1999 in time and are set in Asia, Europe, and the United States. They include hilarious stories like "Viajes Autobus Azul," poignant ones like "The Goodbyes" and two stories, "Trylons and Perispheres" and "Parachute" centered around the New York World's Fair of 1939. This is a very moving, memorable collection. I especially enjoyed the three evocative stories of India. Publishers Weekly wrote that "these tales have heart and are told with a capricious earnestness."
