Those are strong words, but they barely describe the violence done to women's bodies by standard medical management of their health care, contraception, and menopause problems, to say nothing of extraneous stresses in the environment. Kenton's book anatomizes all the reasons for this damage, describes how both lifestyle and even well-intentioned "health care" contributes to it, and describes approaches that no one in this nutrition-conscious age should find too difficult. The toughest row for most women to hoe will be standing off doctors who are pharmaceutically ignorant of the difference between conventional HRT and the natural-progesterone approaches Kenton outlines.
I am living proof that this is a book women need. I have had many of the hormone-related problems Kenton outlines, and perfectly answer the profile of a woman subject to estrogen dominance despite above-average health consciousness. I have had to fight off hysterectomy twice, but the problems that led to this threat have been in abeyance since I demanded natural progesterone treatment from my doctor--shortly before reading this book, on the advice of an RN friend. Finding this book helped me understand how and why something was FINALLY working, and what I could do to further help myself. If only I had had progesterone creams, and the knowledge in this book, available at the beginning of my gynecological purgatory instead of twenty years later! This is not information whose value is limited to women approaching menopause. The uncanny matches between my circumstances and Kenton's accounts of female chemistry make me suspect I could have avoided a world of hurt. I hope some other women can do so.

I first did the plan after reading an article in UK Elle, towards the end of the 80s, and have been doing it regularly since then (once or twice a year).
In fact I'm doing it again now. But now I don't have the book, it's mostly from memory.
It's a fantastic plan to get energy back (particularly after those sluggish change of season times).
I have found it *the* single most effective way to reclaim my tastebuds, rid myself of bad eating patterns, cut out coffee, alcohol etc for more than just a few days.
So, I can highly recommend it to everyone...just hope they publish it again.

Leslie Kenton introduces us to the concept of using the abilities of our mind to free ourselves from tension, worries and to create for ourselves time, compassion and a greater sense of being. This is done over seven chapters, where recent ground-breaking research through science, physics, quantum mechanics, philosophy, biology and psychology [to name a few] are combined with the old traditions of shamans [not the weird people TV makes us believe, but like people with insight and understanding, purpose and a passion for life, who know where they are going!].
This book is self-help, because it then leads you on a daily, thirteen-week journey of shifting your state of mind and outlook on life, through a series of 'mind journeys.' Once again, traversing the realms of the mind is nothing new, nor is it a 'new religion sweeping the nation' [it never asks or implies to change your beliefs, etc. the course and your beliefs/ religion work in conjunction with each other].The mind has different states: Alpha, Beta, Theta, Delta and each one serves their own purpose. We are in Delta mind state when sleeping and a peak state of learning is achieved when in Alpha state. Leslie [or rather her book] leads you through 13 steps [one large step a week - trust me, they are big ones!] that teach you to harness the power of your unconscious mind and use it to your advantage.
As afore mentioned this book teaches unlocking the unconscious mind from the shamanic point of view. For example, Soaring to the Heavens [Quantum Leap 4 of Leslie book] is similar to achieving an Alpha state of mind and going to a higher region of the brain.
Overall, even if you do not do the exercises within this book, it is still an interesting read for those of you with an open mind and a willingness to create a better life for yourself. It has made a difference in my life and my outlook on life indefinitely. The book is set out in an easy-to-read fashion with very inspirational, if not also encouraging, quotes that keep you fully engaged in the book/course.
