An extremely well-written, well-edited book
This pychological thriller is probably the best-written book (use of language, specifically) I've read in a long while. It initiated a lot of discussion in my family about the need for compassion as well as punishment, rather than revenge, in dealing with criminals and the wisdom to know when to apply each. We also need -- the public -- to become interested and informed about our judicial system. My only caviat, and it is personal, is Portia READ WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. This may be reality today, but an author does not need to reinforce something that is potentially dangerous. One small mistake, and someone ELSE may suffer. I loved the book anyway.

Suspenseful and well-written; leaves you wanting more.
Tbis book is great - suspenseful and well-written, it leaves the reader wanting to read more. I'm ready for the next one.

An excellent read.
A psychological thriller. This appears to be the first of a new series about a Charlotte-based forensic psychologist, Portia McTeague. Just released, already a best seller in England--this first novel by Faye Sultan is a "must read".

Fantastic Book!
I bought this book in college around 1984 or so, it is still one of my favorite pie books, I make the Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie several times in the fall and winter. The apple pie is divine, as is the lemon meringue and the buttermilk (yes buttermilk!) pie. If you were planning on owning just one pie book this would be the one....or at least the one to start with.

Cooking With 5 Ingredients or Less
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill (1984)
Authors: Susan Kosoff and Teresa Kennedy
Amazon base price: $7.95

Absolutely great!
It's a great cooking book, because it does not tell you to spend 100 bucks before cooking something that would cost 10 in a restaurant... Five ingredients are usually enough to make a good meal. It's simple, specific and accurate and it does not require any broad knowledge about cooking. It's very good for men and all the people who like fast cooking. I wouldn't survive without it.

A thrilling work of psychological suspense
Ever since the infamous Jimmy Weir trial in South Carolina, North Carolina forensic psychologist, Portia McTeague, has withdrawn from high profile cases that used to be her crusade. Instead, Portia is paying closer attention to her private practice as well as providing volunteer counseling at the Help Line. However, to her chagrin, Portia misses the stress and challenge of diving inside the mind of a sociopath.

As Portia becomes antsy, a famous TV psychic, allegedly having healing hands, is raped, mutilated, and killed. The media jumps all over the case, adding pressure on the Charlotte police to identify the culprit. Portia tries to profile the perpetrator by getting inside his head so she can predict his next action. While the psychologist plays mind games with a serial killer, he intends to make her his next victim.

HELP LINE is an outstanding, yet unusual, psychological suspense that includes a surprise but believable ending. Fay Sultan is the queen of providing a mesmerizing tale that has the heroine and the villain sharing similar traumas and abuse. This leaves readers wanting to understand Portia's behavior and choices. There has to be a sequal to this book so that the auduence can see if Portia can get out of her current troubles and to discover if she learned anything from the experience.

Wacky and Fun
What a wacky bunch of characters. True to life and funny as can be. I enjoyed this book immensely.

A keeper!
I LOVED this book. Read it from the library, then spent a lot time and effort trying to find a way to purchase it because I HAD to own it. I've since passed it down to my daughters, who also enjoyed it immensely. I keep hoping for more from this author.

Simply wonderful!
I picked this book up just to peruse, and found I couldn't put it down. Much in the style of Larry McMurtry with full character development. The characters are wacky, delightful and a bit off center. This was one of the most entertaining books I've read in a long time. Found myself laughing out loud and wishing for more. Hard to find this book? Keep looking, it's worth the hunt.
