A Sleeper, But One Of The Most Intelligent Treatises
It is a Shame that no one knows about this man. He is one of the most intelligent spokesmen for the spirit since Thomas Merton. This book has no b.s. These are profound thoughts of a deep and highly sensitive man. No rhetoric. He draws on his own past experiences from childhood, with his teacher, and as a filmaker. He is humble and I get the sense he is as real as they come. I cannot reccomend this highly enough. This should be on the New York Times Bestseller List. This makes the Celestine Prophecy look like purile sandbox spirituality!

MAGNIFICENT
This is a truly fabulous, incredible book about the most interesting of the Kennedy family. Kick Kennedy is a joy to read about, and Taggart gives the perfect flavor of the time, including anecdotes about the war and personalities like Pamela Digby (later Pamela Harriman, Ambassador to France) and the Mitford girls. Kick comes across as a marvelous, spirited woman who was gone too soon. You should definitely read it. Fast-paced and energetic. A true page-turner.
You also learn more about the other members of the Kennedy clan by reading this book. For example, Rose disapproved of Kathleen's lifestyle and said that the plane crash was God's way of telling her "no." John, on the other hand, actually cried when he heard the news---she was his favorite sister!

Interesting collection of essays
An interesting collection of essays about America's sexual history, covering everything from marriage in New Mexico in the 1700s to homosexuality in the Navy in WW I. Although this is more of an academic book rather than a casual read, the essays are short enough to keep one's attention and there's something new to be learned in each.

Very helpful!
Arnaud Desjardins is a very great teacher. He's the one who brought Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism to the attention of the West with two excellent movies several decades ago. He's also the author of many excellent spiritual books. A disciple of Swami Prajñapad, Arnaud is recognized as having attained the goal of Indian spiriutality. Whether they believe in Hindu spirituality or not, thousands of westerners, and mostly French people - Arnaud is French and was a brilliant TV producer in France - have had their lives changed by his deep, simple words on spiritual life. He's a happy and humorous old chap, who embodies humility, wisdom and joy with a rare vitality! This book is one of his best books. RECOMMENDED!

Successful screen adaptation of a complex novel
Everyone will acknowledge that to adapt a novel for the screen always amounts to a difficult - and in many cases a downright impossible - undertaking. This is not any different with "Snow Falling on Cedars", a novel that is remarkable for its use of different time levels as well as an array of characters complex enough to scare off most scriptwriters. Given the difficulties Ron Bass and Scott Hicks must have faced while adapting the novel, I am all the more pleased with the result of their work. All in all it is fair to say that they have succeeded in writing a script that never runs the risk of cutting the novel's central thread and that pays attention to a great many of the book's intricate details. One drop of bitterness, however, is exactly the use of the aforementioned time levels - or "time frames", as Hicks calls them in his commentary that closes the script - as their complex arrangement both threatens the smooth evolving of the story and tends to confuse those readers not familiar with the novel. But then this may have to do more with the general problems associated with bringing a novel to the screen than with Bass' and Hicks' qualities as scriptwriters, and I would still recommend this script to anyone interested in getting to know more about the filming of "Snow Falling on Cedars" and about adapting a novel for the screen in general.

Priceless Weddings is a keeper!
There are some things that money can't buy & a priceless wedding is one of them! This book should be tossed over a bride's shoulder, to the waiting mob, along with her bouquet!

A priceless wedding celebrates the spirit of the unique personalities of the couple getting married with love, hope, joy & community - without spending a fortune!

Eminently readable & useful, my soon-to-be daughter-in-law hasn't taken her nose out of it since I gave her a copy. With tips & checklists, ideas & warnings about photographers & sites; dresses & flowers; invitations, receptions & food; & inspiration on the vows you'll be exchanging. There's even a chapter: Take the Money & Run, you know - on eloping!

Kathleen Kennedy has put it all together in a lively, breathless yet obviously researched way, so couples can have what they really, really want to express the intentions of their union - without spending the first couple of years of their marriage paying off the debts, as well as not impoverishing their families! Do check out my eInterview with this lively author!

If you know anyone planning their wedding & they don't have Priceless Weddings for Under $5,000 - be a dear & give it to them! It is the perfect wedding's perfect gift!

Inspiring advice on affordable wedding planning
As a recently engaged couple, we thoroughly enjoyed reading "Priceless Weddings For Under $5,000."

Kathleen offered advice that was inspiring, creative AND actually doable! We especially enjoyed the real-life examples she provided of how she was able to guide couples in attaining the kinds of ceremonies that were important to them, making them even more meaningful and memorable.

This book is a must-have for couples planning their big day.

Thank you!

Our wedding was priceless!
My wife and I just tied the knot and the advice in this book was invaluable! We really enjoyed reading such unique wedding insights, helpful hints and examples of what other couples planned for their own weddings. Our wedding cost more than $5000, but was "priceless" because we kept the focus on the commitment AND spent quality time with friends and family.

Disloyal Mothers and Scurrilous Citizens: Women and Subversion During World War I

Bad Book
Without giving the contents of the book away (the title speaks for itself), I would have to say this work does not appear original. There was nothing new in this book that was remotely thought provoking or new. With a little common sense, and knowledge of the situation, one could surmise exactly what this book did, and waste far fewer trees. The author really "dropped the ball" on this one.

Interesting Info
A well-written book about an interesting subject, it chronicles the in-depth stories of several women convicted of sedition during World War I, as well as the political atmosphere which led to their arrests. Issues raised such as the struggle for civil liberties during wartime and the general unwillingness of other like-aligned groups (such as the suffrage groups) to aid in the defense of deserving but unpopular causes is still relevant today. Worth checking out.

Scholarly study is succinct and tight
Kennedy's book is one of the best studies on a topic previously neglected. Comprehensive without being pedantic, and often lively. For the serious scholar of American women's history.

A number of the practice guidelines in this book are outdated and do not conform to current practice guidelines.

Sloppy errors make book poor reference
While this book contains brief descriptions of clinical findings and treatments for many of the common illnesses seen in adults, it is poorly edited and full of errors that could make a great difference in your clinical practice. For example, cranial nerve I is checked with the Snellen chart - I don't think so! I would be fearful of basing my practice on this book since you could never be totally sure if you are following the appropriate practice or making an error because of a typo.
