I reach for my 5- Minute Vet Consult CD-rom more than any other resource in my library. It is very accurate and has a surprising amount of detail to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of each topic. The drug search is a very helpful formulary for those quick reference needs. The most recent CD has a good number of cytology and radiographic images attached to the topics. These can be enlarged to see more closely the great detail.
In my opinion the 5-Minute Veterinary Consult CD-Rom was one of the best reference investments for my practice. It is definitely the most utilized reference I have. Time is money and this has saved me many steps and thus time and money. Every practice needs this reference without doubt!

Fundamental to de Sales is the belief that the spiritual life is not just for monastics and clergy, but for everyone. He considered it a heresy to say that a lay person could not attain sanctity and holiness of life through the grace of God.
In a spiritual tour de force, Fr. William Meninger has taken de Sales masterpiece and reworked it into a classic of his own, "The Committed Life: An Adaption of 'The Introduction to the Devout life' by St. Francis de Sales."
In his preface Meninger makes it clear how indebted he is to de Sales' "charm, warmth, and clarity of language." He was motivated, however, to rewrite the original work, rather than merely translate or paraphrase it. Meninger argues that, although the core of what Francis de Sales wrote is still substantially useful, its "ambiance was outdated."
The book is divided into five parts that lead the reader through the milestones of the Christian journey. Each part is comprised of short essays suitable to daily reading. The early emphasis is on "scriptural meditation" and "mental prayer." The latter parts focus on living an active Christian life.
The result is a wonderful set of insights for which we are indebted not only to the original author but to Meninger as his collaborator. If, as Francis de Sales once wrote, "Liberty is a detachment of the Christian heart from all things to follow the known will of God," William Meninger has given us a modern means to achieve that detachment.
One of the more intriguing is on the sacrament of Reconciliation (p. 65). If the sacrament is only intended for those who have commited mortal sin, and a committed Christian does not commit mortal sins, then how often is this sacrament required? This is perhaps the msot thought provoking reflection in the book, but all the topics discussed make this a worthy and re-readable book.

Major disciplines coverd include: phonetics, morphology, syntax, and semantics. Also included in this new addition are new chapters on second language acquisition and psycholinguistics.
One of the best features of this text is how well it is laid out. It is a pleasure to peruse and even study because of it's logical and user friendly format.
If you love anything about language- whether knowing it's origins, or what part of the mouth is used to create certain sounds, or how language changes over time and for what reasons, or a host of other curiosities, you will certainly enjoy the wealth of information within Contemporary Linguistics!
One thing in particular that I liked about the format of CL was the treatment of more advanced material (marked "Advanced") in each chapter. The "Advanced" sections augment the material in the rest of the chapter and are placed in logical sequence with the rest of the material instead of appearing in an appendix at the end of the chapter. For example, a section marked "advanced" on X' (read X-bar) Theory appears fairly early in the syntax chapter. Having some knowledge of X' Theory allows the reader to proceed to examine the rest of the material with the knowledge that there exists an intermediate level of structure between lexical categories (N, V, ...) and phrasal categories (NP, VP, ...).
Most chapters in CL are pretty well written and technical tools to treat linguistic phenomena are almost always introduced at the correct juncture. However, CL does not treat Innateness properly (why Innateness and arguments for and against Innateness), and has a weak chapter on semantics. The reader would do well to augment the material in CL by reading Pinker's "The Language Instinct" or Jackendoff's "Patterns in the Mind" for a non-technical introduction to some ideas in linguistics, as well as sections of De Swart's "Intro to Natural Language Semantics" to get an idea of how semantics is done. If the reader is interested in looking at language from a cognitive science perspective, she would also do well to read most of Gleitman et al's "An Invitation to Cognitive Science: Language".
All in all, CL provides a relatively painless initiation into linguistics and I highly recommend it.

I appreciated the "getting started exercises" at the end of each chapter. They have encouraged some incredible discussion in our family as we face choices regarding relocation, and home purchases. I also do seem to have more money around and have found myself re-thinking purchases and my buying "process." Having fresh flowers in my kitchen has been very uplifting in February and is noticed by everyone who comes to visit.
I strongly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve on the quality of their life and leave behind "worrying big about the little."
William has introduced a great book about Talent, Being Deliberate and strategies to deal with career, money and relationship problems.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself reading this elegant book. I really like his poignant story about his real estate woes and comeback.
The title of the book should be How to create a better relationship with your family, spouse and career with new prosperity/talent consciousness.
I enjoyed the section about finding one's Talent.
I emailed the author because I was so excited about how to create a better solution in my life.
I'm always looking for better ways to live and
Mr. Devine creates a paradigm for wealth consciousness.
He helps define a better relationship to the almighty buck! We can all use his advice.
A talented author, narrator and financial guru is behind this work of art in nonfiction.
I recommend this highly to all my peers in the Generation X and all those followers of Tony Robbins.
I hope I get a chance to meet the author in the reading book circuit!
This is a must read, I've been recommending to all my friends.
I'll go back to it again to re-read.
