Feisty Heroine Experiences Civil War
I love the questions of who is enemy and who is friend
and how can the human spirit survive in times of tragedy and war that Keehn explores in this story. Anna is a feisty young girl who embarks on a mission with her younger brother Jed to find her father who is wounded in Winchester, Virgina in the Civil War and bring him home to Pennsylvania. Much of the humor woven into this story comes from their transportation, Sampson, a huge plow horse who responds only to Bible verses.

These two young people who are caught in the sweep and heartbreak of the war are strongly portrayed with all the interplay of brother/sister antagonism and love. Jed is "rutchety, " sees the world as good or evil and mostly disagrees with Anna's opinions on just about everything. Anna is strongly appealing, a intrepid makeshift dentist and hopeful baker of apple dumplings which she just knows will make her father recover from his wounds. Even though they meet people from both sides of the conflict and experience the horrors of the war especially when they are imprisoned in Castle Thunder with other refugees, ultimately, Anna and her story glow with quiet strength of character and hope.

I recommend this book highly, not only for young people, but for adults.

Anna Sunday
Sally Keehn has done it again!Set during the Civil War,using meticulous research,an vibrant voice, and a compelling plot, she takes us on a journey with Anna and her brother Jed in search of Pa who is reported to be dying, in the house of the enemy - a she-devil from Winchester Va. Will Sampson, their horse, who only responds to Bible commands, get them there in time?
Will they survive the sutler who has his eye on Sampson? Will Anna's disguise be discovered?
Who are the real enemies after all?
Anna Sunday is such a riveting read, that I stayed up half the night to finish it. I am now lending it out to my friends. There is a waiting list!
Anna Sunday is a must-have for schools, libraries and personal collections!

History Come Alive & a Story of Heroism for Our Times
Just as she did with I AM REGINA, Keehn has taken a slice of history and brought it vibrantly alive through her young heroine. Anna Sunday is a perfect hero, someone all of us can relate to. Can you imagine setting off with your younger brother and a horse who obeys only Bible commands to rescue your injured father? Can you imagine doing it during the Civil War? Of course you can! Anna Sunday is the brave one in all of us. We can all relate to her--and learn some history along the way. Did I mention it's a funny book, at times, and a poignant one, too? I don't want to give anything away, so let me just say: Buy it for your child, but read it first! You will love it. Destined to become a classic, along with Regina.

Wonderful!
I loved this book. Not only did the author "paint and picture with words" and make you feel like you were Willo and you were right there, the things happening to you and not only did the book relate to real life and true things but it was at the same time dramatic and captaivating but in a real life way. It wasn't all goody goody and win-all-the-time like alot of other books I've read are. Willo is an everyday girl with problems, choices and gifts and Tess reminds me alot of problems I have with my horse. It was a beautiful book and I reccomend horse-lovers and non-horse-lovers alike to try it, it's great!

The best horse book I've ever read!
This book is very moving to me being a fellow horse back rider. I understood it very clearly and could relate to many of the problems that Willo Jean and her family had to go through--loss of a loved one and trying to prove my parents wrong about something I knew I could do, especially about horses. I believed in Willo Jean just as though she were my best friend and I wish she was mine to help me get through my "no horse" dilemma with my parents. I rate this book a five star all the way because of all the realism and how it moved me. For instance, when Willo Jean was lunging with Diana, her instructor, I could imagine my own instructor, Mary, and me lunging at the canter. Five stars with honor.

Book Review
Before Willo's mother died she promised her she could get a horse. Her grandfather told her not to get the first horse she saw. The first horse she saw was an abused ex-racehorse named Tess. The minute Willo saw her she wanted to buy her, but she had to prove to her father, who is always drunk and almost never home, she can control Tess. I liked this book. Willo worked really hard trying to reach her goals. To see if Willo reached her goals you'll have to read the book!

IS THIS A GREAT BOOK, OR WHAT?!?!
Book Title -I Am Regina Author -Sally M. Keehn Reviewed By -Jonathan Praino and Eddie Szabo Book Rating - 10 Book Category -Historical Fiction We read this book and we want to review it. We liked the book and we liked reading about the Indians. It made us see the Indians as a peaceful people. Regina, a white girl, goes to live with the Indians. We saw life through her eyes and from the point of view of the Indians. This story was based on true facts. It shows both how the white man and the Indians lived. The Indians and the white man traded with each other. The Indians got guns, ammo and liquor while the white man got furs and land .We learned that the white man showed the Indians their bad ways. Like when Tiger Claw traded furs for liquor and got drunk. The white man also brought diseases that sometimes killed the Indians like smallpox. We liked the book and the writing style of the author. It was easy to read and follow. We also liked how Regina sounded like she was actually talking. We recommend this book to all fourth and fifth graders!

A story with an exciting plot!
Book Title: I Am Regina Author: Sally M. Keehn Reviewed by:Heather R. Lang and Kerry Beekman Book Rating: 9+ Book category:Historical Fiction We read this book and we want to review it. I Am Regina is a true story. It is such an exciting story!. But we wish Sally M. Keehn would tell more about what happened to Wolfin, the old Indian woman that raised Regina for the ten years that she was living with the Indians. We also would have liked to know more about Quetit the white girl. We are curious about her past and if she ever found out who she really was!?! We gave this book an excellent rating because of it's great plot!!!!!!

This is a book that you can't put down!
Book Title:I Am Regina Book's Author: Sally M. Keehn Reviewed by: Natalie Dimant & Anil Fermin Book Rating: 10 Book Category: Historical Fiction We read I Am Regina and we want to review it. We rated this book a ten for many reasons. One of the reasons was that we liked the writing style. It was written like Regina was actually telling the story. Another reason why we liked this book was that we liked the plot. It was both exciting and tragic. We think the author wrote this book because she wanted people to see how it was to live with Indians and because she wanted people to see the Indian's point of view. This book shows us that the white men did not like the Indians because they were in the way of getting new land. The Indians did not like the white men because they took too much of their land. If we were the author we would write more about what happened after Regina got reunited with her mother.

Moon of Two Dark Horses- Is it worth reading?
This book, 'Moon of Two Dark Horses', by Sally M. Keehn, was a good book but with a few bad parts. This book was about two boys, Daniel and Coshmoo, who have been good friends since they were young. Daniel is American and Coshmoo is part of an Indian tribe. During the British-American war, Daniel and Coshmoo's villages begin to fight and hate each other on the influence of the British-American war. Will Coshmoo and Daniel still be best friends?
I would recommend this because it is exciting and will make the customer want to read more. This book isn't very slow, it will quickly continue on with the plot without getting 'intercepted' by over describing a small detail. Also, this book has plenty of action and rarely has just speaking or people sitting around. There is always a scene like the race, the search for two skeletons, or when the British invade and so much confusion and horror is happening in the two villages. Another recommendation for reading this book is the way it's written makes everything be clearly explained. It will not jump from plot to plot so quickly that the reader will not understand what's happening.
Some people might not like this book because it can be very predictable in most parts. For instance in the race, anyone could predict what's going to happen and who will win. In the end, there is not much surprise to what happens; it simply ends like any other movie or book without a special snap. Unfortunately, that can greatly affect the surprise in certain parts. But, concluding with all the pros and the cons, this is be an excellent book to read and is well recommended.

Crossing Boundaries
Crossing Boundaries

The book Moon of Two Dark Horses is about a Delaware Indian boy named Coshmoo, who is living during the Revolutionary war. He is a friend to a white boy named Daniel. His tribe is being torn between the two sides of the war. They do not know whose side to join. While the British have more supplies and can provide Coshmoo with ammunition for his beloved gun, he does not want to go to war.
This war also has an affect on his personal life. He has been friends with Daniel and does not want to loose his friendship with him.
In my opinion, this was a good book and I would probably rate it four stars. Personally, I like to read historical books so I liked this book. I also like to read books about Indians. In conclusion, I enjoyed reading this book.

Moon of Two Dark Horses
As a college student, I found the book to be very well written and quite entertaining. The book was able to convey the message of strong friendship-through thick and thin. Although they had grown apart, Coshmoo and Daniel were able to remain friends until the end. The book was also able to inform the reader on a important time in the nation's history, the American Revolution. The book gave the reader two different perspectives on the Revolutionary War and supported each side with facts and opinions. This book would be a great tool to use when explaining or discussing the American Revolution to a classroom. It gives the students a creative view on historical information, and may also help the student to better understand concepts related to the Revolutionary War.
