Those Were The Days
This novel is about a girl named Lisa and a gentleman named Marek. In the beginning Marek and Lisa secretly get married and move away from Warsaw where they used to live. Then they got taken away to a concentration camp and they both have to try to stay alive so that they can continue their marriage after the war. After the war Marek believes that Lisa is dead and Lisa believes the same for Marek. They still go on the search to look for each other. Do they find each other and continue their marriage or do they not find each other and just go on with their lives and marry different people? You will have to find out by reading one of the most interesting books called Marek and Lisa who is written by Henia Karmel Wolfe. I really enjoyed this book. It kept my suspense through out the whole book and made me think how lucky I really am, because I have a shelter over my head all the time, I have a supporting family, and food unlike the people that were in the consentration camps.

Marek and Lisa, two Jews Waiting for a Miracle
Lisa is a normal girl in her early 20's during the Holocaust. She meets up with a man named Marek. They soon fall in love and get married. Before they are captured and taken away to a concentration camp, they buy a small apartment. Marek worked for little pay and Lisa just stayed home. One day, Marek never came home from work. Lisa got very worried. When she went looking for him, she got captured and brought to the police station. The guard said he didn't want to take her in but it wasn't up to him. Marek was already there. They were then put on cattle cars. Marek was in one car and Lisa was in the other. They both went to different camps. Lisa tells these stories while she is in the hospital. She was in the hospital in the first place because she was hungry. She saw a scrap of food on the ground. She then got out of the marching line and bent to pick it up. She was shot in the leg and sent to the hospital to recover. Lisa was delirious sometimes. She screams Marek's name in the night. She tells the stories to the nurses and to the girl in the bed next to her. Her name is Natalia. Natalia was in the same camp. Lisa didn't know her but Natalia knew who Lisa was because she used to sing to people. Natalia loved Lisa's voice.

I loved this book. It is now one of my favorites. I love romance books. Although this was not only a romance novel or a multicultural novel, this book is full of info about Jews and the danger that they went through during the horrible thing called the Holocaust. The book was so wonderful; I wanted to read it again. The book is full of adventure and danger. It has a lot of details so that if you don't get something at first, the author makes sure you do and explains it. Sometimes even repeats it. Marek and Lisa share a bond and a love that is so powerful that one Nazi or a whole group of them could ever break apart. If you would like a good romance novel or good action book, or maybe you just want to know about the Holocaust, find the book Marek and Lisa. I promise you won't regret it.
