All Libraries Should Have This Book...
In addition to the positive Booklist review above, this book also received a glowing review in Voice of Youth Advocates August, 1998. It is an extremely useful resource for setting goals for young adult services and collection development and much more. If you are a librarian who is seeking to expand YA services in your library, this book will give you terrific information that can help you campaign for a greater commitment to young adult services!

Fantastic!
Jones once again displays his vast knowledge and winning strategies for serving this all-too-often underserved population. His book is an excellent resource and inspiration for anyone interested in providing young adults with solid and beneficial service. The library community and teens are fortunate to have his insight and practice.

Excellent Resource
Jones' book is a superb resource for librarians of all sorts, both those who work with young adults by choice, and those forced to work with young adults via the nature of librarianship. Jones provides a multitude of great ideas in working with, handling, and advocating for young adults. This is a definite "must-read" for all public librarians

One word about the Animation: Fantabulous
This awesome little treasure is simply a tease for the real treasure... the full-length feature film is simply the most creative animation that has come out since the Iron Giant & Joseph: King of Dreams. The "back to basics with lots of funk & soul" animation helps protray a suberbly written script full of wittiness and crazy laughter. "S.Shaolinski has done it again"

This is a great book!
This book is a great book. After I read it I wanted to see the movie. But it's not out yet. It is greatly written. You should get this book.

A vivid portrait of life in the NorthWest
This book features some of the most prominent authors born and bred in NorthWestern Ontario. I myself found the book intriguing, being from NW Ontario myself, because it references landmarks, sights, and sounds, common in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas. Nancy Bjorgo's story is without a doubt the one that stands out most in my mind in this incredible collection. I had no idea such talent resided in NorthWestern Ontario, the stories are powerful! If short fiction is your passion, pick this book up!

Amazing.
I had first learned about Patrick Jones due to the fact that I adore the Manic Street Preachers, and Patrick is the bassist's brother. So, after reading all of his poetry that is available online, I fell in love with him, thus I decided to buy this book.

The first section consists of his poetry.. it's absolutely amazing. It's powerful and political, yet it is still quite poignant. The next section is Patrick's first play, Everything Must Go. The play depicts the lives of several Welsh men and a woman in their early twenties. It contains many references to 50's Welsh socialist Aneurin Bevan, and even more references to the depressing lives of factory workers. It's written in vernacular, so it's a bit difficult to understand at first, but eventually it all makes sense. The next section of the book is Patrick's second play, Unprotected Sex. Unprotected Sex is the story of Gary, a soldier who recently left Kosovo, and his pregnant girlfriend Triste. Their neighbor, Denver, was bullied in his childhood by Gary, and has never fully recovered. This play is also in the vernacular, and is extremely poetic.

This book explores human nature and the concept of reality. If you're into truly emotional, raw and beautiful poetry, I would recommend that you purchase this book.

Definitive History of Nashville letters
I am a recent transplant to Nashville (yeah, I play the guitar) and I was eager to read about the literary history of Nashville. There is so much more to the history of this city than Garth Brooks and Vandy fever. The editor has done a great job in seeking out "high" and "low"--the Fugitives to John Berendt--to present a well-balanced picture of this city. Funny, serious, old, and new--this is probably the defiitive history of Nash Vegas' literary scene.

Photography meets fine art meets human drama
If you watched the December 17, 2000 CBS News SUNDAY MORNING feature on Lord Snowdon, you would have noted the photographer's humility. He denies photography's place as a fine art and his significance in his work - the subjects are what is important.

No person with an eye trained to fine art could deny the quality of Lord Snowdon's talent. As a fellow professional photographer, I aspire to capture the human condition quite as Lord Snowdon does. The reader will find a variety of work - black & white and color, famous persons and ordinary people, sharp crisp work to grainy impressionist. Don't look for any ordinary pictures - each is dramatic in some varied fashion. Don't look for sensual nudes - a couple of tasteful nudes adorn the book.

The photo selection is an excellent representation of his 50 years as a photographic master. The book's technical presentation is superb, in terms of paper choice and printing techniques. I eagerly await Lord Snowden's exhibit at the Yale Center for the British Art. Thank you for your wonderful contributions, Lord Snowdon, and thank you Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers!

Word-music
This is a wonderful collection of poetry readings by some of the best actors in the world. If you allow yourself only one tape of poetry, I would recommend this one. The rendition of Lawrence's "The Snake" is spellbining, and the reading of Macneil's "A Death in the Family" is quietlly gut-wrenching. And you will be surprised how well Bill Shatner recites about whales. Buy this tape, and you will listen to it again and again.

Well Researched U Boat Stories
This is a very well researched account of the month of May 1943, when the German Navy suffered their greatest loss of U Boats during the Battle of the Atlantic. It is very interesting how the U Boats came to be sunk. The reading is not always easy because of the detail but well worth reading.
