DO THE READ THING
IF YOU LOVED THE MOVIE LIKE I DID THEN, YOU'VE GOT TO GET THIS BOOK. IT HAS EVERYTHING FOR THOSE OF YOU (LIKE ME) WHO CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS FILM. IT CONTAINS SOME STORYBOARDS, THE PRODUCTION JOURNAL, PRODUCTION NOTES, THE CREDITS, THE ENTIRE SCRIPT (!), AND 32 PAGES WORTH OF PICTURES. FIND OUT WHAT SPIKE HAD TO GO THROUGH TO GET THIS FILM UP ON THE BIG SCREEN. IT'S A SHAME THAT SPIKE STOP PUTTING OUT THESE COMPANION VOLUMES TO HIS FEATURE FILMS AS HE DID FOR 5 OF HIS FIRST 6 FILMS. THEY (THE BOOKS) ARE A WELCOMED ADDITION THAT REVEAL A LOT ABOUT THE MAN AND HIS ART. THOUGH OUT OF PRINT, IT WOULD BEHOOVE YOU TO FIND A COPY OF THIS BOOK AND DO THE READ THING.

Tells the story in an inter-active manner the family enjoys.
This book was intended for young children, but we have learned to have fun with it in many ways as a whole family. When my child was young we read it as you would any rebus book, so that the child "reads" the pictures and you read the text. Now we like to take this book out at parties for the children, but have the adults suggest completely nonsensical substitutions for each picture and have the children correct us with the proper answers.

INCREDIBLE
She needs to write another and another and another. I thought I was actually there in her memories....real time....in color. I have read this book several times and I am suggesting it to be read for a book club I belong to. A great read!!!!!

RIGHT ON TIME!
MS. Jones Breaks it all down on this very essential Book.It covers many topics real well&Strong.this is the type of book that was written from the Heart,Mind&Soul. She's Intelligent,Straight Up&Funny.Worth Seeking out.

Better the 2nd time around
I bought this book about 5 years ago, read it, loved it, then put it on the shelf. I've recently picked it back up and read it a 2nd time. I loved it even more. The essays are sharp, well-written, funny and "real". This is writer who truly loves being black and female and it shows in every word. I especially loved her insight into the "rainbow babies" as she loves to call interracial folks. This is book that you can pick up time and time again and still learn something new!

Ms. Jones, where's the 2nd collection of essays?

Moriko Mori - An Enlightening Experience
I first came across Moriko Mori's work on line. I was searching for an artist for an art paper I had to write about. I wanted someone different from the classic artists. Her work is visially brilliant. She combines traditional concepts with modern technology to make contemporary pop art. Her background in fashion and design are apparant. And her eye for detail is astounding. She transforms herself in time from the future to the past. As well as using herself as the model in her work. I now have begun to search for her latest displays. I really have an appreciation for her work.

Inspirational Icon
I found this book to be extremely inspiring for artistic, mental, and spiritual purposes. Full color photographs and Mori's wonderful dreamscapes!!

I love this book!
Lisa Jones perfectly captures what it feels like to be a young adult searching --for love, friendship, and your own real life. Not the life your parents thought you would have, not even the life that you expected to have, but the whole messy, confusing, heartbreaking, yet thrilling reality. The best part is that she captures this feeling in such a light, funny way (with great dialogue!) that you don't even realize what amazing wisdom is packed into 120 pages. So read it once for the fun and a second time for the message, then tell all your friends!

Funny and Poignant
Jones has a talent for keenly observing everyday life, and then weaving a story in a humorous and touching way. I did "laugh out loud" many times, and would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, quick summer read!

Learn How to Negotiate the Used Car Lot of Life
"Up" is a very good book. Yes it is funny and yes it is a coming-of-age story, but Ms. Jones' ability to describe the world to us is far beyond those limitations. This is perhaps the best book for anyone in the middle of that time of life when finding someone to love is the all consuming thought which you wouldn't stop thinking about even if you could - or anyone who remembers feeling that way. "Up" should dent the best seller list and win awards - and if you read it and recommend it to a few friends, it will.

Also recommended: "Fate" by Mary Jane (that's me!) and "Widow for One Year" by John Irving.

Not Wyld enough?
"Book of the Wyld" left me with mixed feelings. The book did contain some interesting and useful information; all the new rules would add just the right amount of flavor to any Werewolf story. Unfortunately, this book left me wanting for more; I don't think it was as good as the two previous books about the Wyrm and the Weaver. "Book of the Wyld" could have definitely use some more work, but I think it is worth having in the end if you want add more the Wyld element to your stories.

The Third Member of the Triad Exposed.
" and the Wild was off picking it's toes or something." This the general stereo type I held of The Wyld. Yes it's the fountain of creation, but it had not been given the personification that the other members of the triad had.

Well no more.

The down side of this book: It tries to explain the unexplainable.

The Up Side: It gives insight to what is often the most misunderstood element of the WereWolf game. The book has a good selection of Wyld Fetishes and a couple (2) Rites that can work as good background material. The selection of Wyld spirts is good (20 pages worth, and the Gorgans), and can act as excelent additions to any game (be forwarned some are reprints though). It also incluedes a section on The Storm Eater, if any one was wondering more about it, you'll find some answers. The addition of "thresholds" is also something new to me.

And finaly the warning "The Wild is a doble Edged Sword." Under this topic there is a good section explaining the chaos that is The Wyld. As well as an discusion on insainity (The freind of Chaos) and how close association wiht the Wyld can lead your characters to the depths of madness, and how to deal with it as a storyteller, and player.

All in all a good addition to the White Wolf line-up.

Not Steven King, but not a book you'd regret reading
This little book is no page turner, but if you're interested in diary writing or if you're an armchair archaeologist (like myself) you'll get a kick out of it.

The writer of the letters actually spent a number of years living on what is now the Wupatki grounds, just north of Flagstaff, AZ. Wupatki is a great place to visit--it's an amazing scattering of those magical stone dwellings left by some of the original inhabitants of the southwest.

She is a somewhat naive writer...and that is both the charm and the downfall of this little book. You can get a lot through her, that you might be filtered out by a more experienced writer. On the other hand, there is much of the mundane in these letters. This is somewhat mitigated by the situation in which the mundane occurs.

Read it to learn more about the inhabitants of the grounds, read it to learn a bit about our governmental custodianship of the land and read it to learn a little about life during wartimes. Just don't expect Garcia Marquez.

A Wonderful Life in Wupatki
After a recent visit to the 800 year old Wupatki ruins in Northern Arizona, I was fascinated to find that modern man had actually lived there in the 30's and 40's. This book recounts life at the ruins of the ranger in charge and his new bride. Letters written by Courtney to her family and friends reveal a simple and exciting life in Arizona, while living in two rooms of an actual Sinagua ruin. This book would probably be especially fascinating to those who live in Arizona or visit frequently.
