Another Great Book by Wendy Froud!
Wendy Froud is the wife of Artist Bryan Froud ( Good Fairies, Bad Fairies). She is a great artist and this book reflects her abilities, the books has pictures of the dolls she created for the story. The pictures say a thousand words. If you are a doll maker, you will greatly enjoy this book. The story is good but the pictures are better. It has different kind of trolls, fairies and wizards. If you love fantasy you will love the book.

Magical tale
This is an extremely beautiful book. With Wendy Froud's doll making skills and Terri Windling's magical story weaving, teamed up with Brian Froud well, it sounds too good to be true. This follow up to "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale" did not disappoint.

Sneeze, our beloved hero from the first book, is again teamed up with his friend Twig for a quest to find out why Winter has not yet reached their forest. Again they encounter many characters, in which Wendy's dolls never fail to amaze me. She is so incredibly gifted. I would like to show this book to anyone who does not appreciate winter as a season, because while it's not the "moral" of the story...it takes a look at winter as being the season for rest so that everything can be reborn in the spring. It tells a magnificent tale.

Not only is it a wonderful book to read and enjoy, but it's a treasure to put up on the shelf or coffee table for looking at again and again.

It just gets better!
Terri, Wendy, and Brian have done it again! Teaming up again to send Sneezle, the beloved hero of "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale," on another adventure, the Frouds and Windling masterfully create a mythical world that defies the pages the story is written on. Using photographs of dolls created by Wendy Froud in settings built in the Froud's garden studio, the characters literally step from the pages. Fresh and exciting, Windling's writing brings new life to old folklore, bringing the faeries and goblins of Dartmoor out of their hiding places, at least for a little while, for us to see. A treasure to keep, with plenty to share, this is a wonderful read for the self and the wee ones!

Anesthesia: A Comprehensive Review
If you thought Faust's book made anesthesiology interesting, this one brings it to life. Between Faust's book and Hall's who needs anything else to pass the board exams. The Merck manual might be all you need to put all of medical knowledge in your briefcase.

The Emperor Domitian
Published in Hardcover by Routledge (1992)
Author: Brian W. Jones
Amazon base price: $65.00
Average review score:

This book is a reliable, readable and valuable biography.
When it was published in 1992 this book was the first significant scholarly biography of the emperor Domitian (ruled AD 81-96) since 1894. The author is an Associate Professor and a leading specialist in Flavian political and prosopographical history, and has produced a very reliable, readable work that is a critical and valuable interpretive synthesis of the considerable modern scholarship relating to Domitian. The study is organized thematically and with a very solid prosopographical approach. The first chapter examines the social and political rise of Domitian's family, his early life and role under his father Vespasian and brother Titus (both emperors). The next two chapters provide a detailed examination of Domitian's court and his relationship with his courtiers. These are then followed by two chapters on Domitian's financial, administrative and provincial policies. Chapters 6 and 7 examine the major wars of Domitian's reign and his military and foreign policies.! After these there are two chapters on the senatorial and equestrian aristocracy during Domitian's reign, and his relationship with them and other policies and problems. The conclusion completes the study with detailed end-notes and an exhaustive bibliography. The three indices (on persons, ancient authors and general subjects) at the end of the book are very useful and effective. For serious scholars of this period this biography is an indispensable work. A more recent biography of Domitian with a psychological approach ('Domitian: Tragic tyrant') is in many ways simply based upon the present study.

one more point of view, an interesting one
There are many opinions and contradicting 'first hand accounts' about Brian Jones life and death. The only choice a serious fan has is to compare and contrast a good sample of the books available. While Bill Wyman's book may be more detailed, 'Golden Stone' is many steps above the average teeny-bopper fare available on Jones, and is a necessary additon for any real B.J. enthusiast.

Just like the original bigger version!
This is a great book. I got is as a gift, although I already had the bigger, original version. It's cute, the cover and all the pages are exactly the same, just shrunk down. A great gift for a fairy lover

Prophets of Fire: The Elijah Message for the End Time
Published in Paperback by Pacific Press Publishing Association (1999)
Author: Brian Jones
Amazon base price: $5.97
Average review score:

Book explains the closing prophecy of Malachi.
The central object of this book is to explain the Elijah message and mission in its three inter-related phases. 1) That of Elijah the Tishbite in 1 Kings; 2) John the Baptist; 3) God's ;ast day messengers to the world described in Revelation 14. The author shows how the message and mission of God's final Elijah (a movement and a people) is designed to awaken the world to prepare for Christ's second coming through the power of the everlasting gospel. His thesis is carefully worked out from Scripture and is theologically conservative, written in the tradition of the Protestant Reformers, but focusing on end-time concerns as developed in Revelation. At the end of each chapter are four questions for reflection and discussion. The 190 page book is in paperback and cost 11.99. Published by Pacific Press. ISBN 0-8163-1704-6.

Director of Student Teaching
Tools for Teaching provides a framework in which teachers are able to effectively manage classroom environments by: 1)accentuating positive behavior in order to eliminate negative behavior; 2) establishing a classroom structure for success; 3) managing student behavior with the body and not the mouth; 4) developing incentive systems where students do the work willingly; and 5) remaining calm under pressure. Dr. Jones introduces the reader to these concepts and others in this practical guide to classroom discipline, instruction, and motivation. This book is perfect for preservice teachers who are in the formative stages of creating their management plans and for experienced educators who want to reduce stress, look like the "naturals," keep students on task, and have a postive classroom environment.

This Book Saved my Teaching Career
I had been teaching 7th and 8th grade science for two years at an inner city school and was doing OK. I had my classes somewhat under control, but I was getting worn out trying to keep them under control. I read the intro to this book and couldn't wait to finish it and implement his methods. He clearly explains a whole system to deal with EVERYTHING that occurs in a classroom. He gives specific techniques, not just handy hints. I started using the techniques from this book in the middle of the school year and the change in my classroom, and my stress level has been absolutely incredible. I now have nearly perfect class control and the cooperation of my students at all times. The principle now sends new teachers to my room to observe both discipline and instruction. I reread the whole book a few months after the first read, and my classroom management just keeps getting better and better as well as easier and much less stressful. I wish they had given me a two semester course with this book in college! It has made teaching fun and relaxing for me. I'm sure I would have quit teaching by now if not for Fred Jones' book.

every college should offer a class based on this book
I stumbled upon this book last summer completely by accident, but I am glad that I did! In three weeks of student teaching I have witnessed both the typical behavior of students described in this book and the failed strategies that most teachers repeatedly use to keep the "lid" on in their classrooms. Having read "Tools for Teaching" I feel confident that I can effectively handle and eventually eliminate the behavior of disruptive students. Although as a student teacher I am not fully able to implement the threefold strategy of limit setting, preferred activity time, and responsibility training I will certainly do so when I have my own classroom. Had I not read this book I would be forced to rely on useless techniques such as "snap and snarl", pheasant posturing, silly talk, and the "sick and tired" look when dealing with classroom management problems. If you are curious to find out what makes the previously mentioned techniques useless you simply need to purchase this book!

Stuck on Fairys!!!!
Your readers have brought a smile to my face while reading the reviews. The Pressed Fairy Book is a delight to all senses of the human nature. What a wonderful place to take yourself for the laughter we so need in our lives. My son knew the need in my life and found a copy of the pressed fairy book last Christmas. He also found a copy of "Strange Stains & Mysterious Smells" by Terry Jones & Brian Froud. It's numbers are ISBN 0-684-83206-2 and is a wonderful addition to your collection. The calenders are a daily reminder that we need to laugh much more than we do. Somewhere in the mass confussion of my cataloges I have an address to purchase the 1999 calender. Will locate if your interested.... I to hope to see the book in print again. My daughter needs one.

A Reader
Recently at a friends house I was handed a copy of Lady Cottingtons Pressed Fairy Book. I could not put it down till I finished it. It was hillarious! Delightful, watercolored fairies captured in surprised expressions of colorful imagination. The young lady could not control the temptation to splatter curious creatures who land on her pages. She knows she should stop, but just can't help it. As she writes over the years, she attributes her sexual fantasies to those playful fairies paying her back. It brought back the teen in me, as I sat laughing for hours in my friends garden.I searched the flowers to find fairies myself, after reading the book. I found the search for my own copy to be equally elusive. I'm making a public plea here to mankind & fairy kingdom alike for a reprint ASAP.

A Stunning Faery Book
This is a wonderful, stunning, creative, unike, funny, and enchanting book. This beautifully illustrated book has actual entries by the young girl, telling mysterious acounters with the faeries, and her daily life. The pressed faeries are amazing and realistic, but are not real pressed faeries. This book also has a cute little window deco and the book comes in paper back, hard cover, large version, and the smaller version which are all beautifull. I reccomend this book to anyone who loves faeries, and who has an open mind to the excitence of faeries. I do not reccomend this book to anyone who is a little child looking for a appropriate faery book, for the faeries are squished ( with odd little expressions on their faces,) and their is a small bit of mild sexual content.
