One of the two wonderful classical guitar collections
This book is one of the 2 most desirable and collectible books on classical guitars (the other one is: Collection of Fine Spanish Guitars from Torres to the Present by Urlik, Sheldon). The figures are superb and the text informative. The hard cover edition is better in the following senses:

1. The hard cover edition is a limited edition (6000 copies only).
2. It is like a textbook which can be opened fully on its back. Easy for reading and scanning.
3. It's got a hard protective slipcase

However, getting the softcover edition might be your choice for its price and availability.

Incredible Book
If you are a lover of guitars, specifically classical guitars, you owe it to yourself to purchase this book. There is nothing else like it. Great photography, details on some of the best guitars from some of the best makers...Romanillos, Smallman, Bernabe...They are all here. Inclusively, the book covers players (Williams, Bream, Segovia) as well as an in depth look at wood and the guitar market today. Great stuff and at ..., an incredible bargain.

Beautiful photos and layout, a wonderful collection
Any lover of the classical guitar cannot help but appreciate this gorgeous collection of instruments, as well as the way in which they are displayed on the pages. Filled with information about the guitars and their construction, the luthiers, and which players'CDs you can hear them on, I highly recommend this fine edition. I take issue only with the subtitle "A Complete History", as the guitars are based on a single collection of instruments, owned by Russell Cleveland, and not necessarily what any other person would consider "Complete". That fact does not diminish my enjoyment of this exquisite book one bit.

Clear and compelling, this book changed my mind !
I came to this book with a condescending snicker on my face. I was sure it would rattle through old platitudes and moral hype, but it immediately challenged that point of view with clear and compelling evidence that assisted suicide is, and has been, a very bad idea for the vulnerable and depressed. Johnston tells the story of the Hemlock Society and its founder, Derek Humphry; factual and chilling. Kevorkian is skewered by his own words. The Dutch experiment is documented exhaustively and it is clearly something we wouldn't want to try. The threat of manipulating older people (perhaps for their money, perhaps because we're just tired of hearing them chatter) is in fact very real. I liked the historical overview, the tasteful graphics, the liner notes, and the Qand A section. I particularly liked the stuff on copy-cat suicide and Courtney Love! This book is not dry and stiff, it's actually pretty cool. Neat cover too

The Greatest Play I Ever Read
A play magnificient in scope, Emperor and Galilean examines the reign of Julian the Apostate. It is set outside of Norway. The characters are a bit more human than idea and the reader vascillates in sympathy towards them, particularly Julian. As such, this play differs from the other prose plays that most readers would associate with Ibsen. I do ask why it has been so long since this great play has been made available to an English reading audience.

Ibsen, by Rick Davis
This multi-volume set of Ibsen's work, edited and compiled by Chicago/Evanston author Rick Davis is a little masterpiece.

The new adaptations are marvelous, and Mr. Davis' commentaries show us how Ibsen is a master crafsperson, and how his work may be best contrasted with Strindberg -- who is anything but a master editor and foundation layer.

I think Mr. Davis shows us how important precision and planning can be to the writing process. Therefore I think this book is a must have for screenwriters, as well as fiction-writers -- not to mention playrights.

Not the best, not the worst
This is not the best mystery book to come along that I've read, but it is certainly not the worst. A little on the violent side, this still manages to pull off a charming atmosphere. Funny at some points, dull at others, this mystery comes off feeling a little tired, yet still enteraining.
