One of those books you take with you on a deserted island
.....or if you had to travel back in time. I had this for my textbook in Biology back in 1987 and even then, .... well before the human genome was anywhere near being charted, let alone completed, this was a spectacular acomplishment. This book isn't riveting like say Druyan and Sagan's SHADOWS OF FORGOTTEN ANCESOTRS is, but it is as good as any biology textbook can possibly be. It has EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know about biology; from modern cell theory to ecology. All you have to do is look this over and you'll see why I highly recommend it. Does any other bio textbook even compare?

BIOLOGY TEACHERS N.B.
This is by far the finest Introductory Biology textbook I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Biology teachers, do yourselves (not to mention your students) a favor--make this the required text for your Biology I (and II) Class! Special Thanks goes out to Dr. Michael Hoefer...for requiring this textbook!

Best intro to Bio book out there
This is definitely the best intro to bio books out there. As a graduate student I got the chance to read lots of bio books and this one by far is the best. The chapters are well organized and easy to follow and gives you the depth needed to pursue any area of biology. When it was time for me to student teach this was the book of my chose. It expensive but definiely worth it to any biologist. The CD-ROM is also very good!

Doctor Wooreddy's prescription for enduring the ending of the world

So good!!
This is one of the best books I've ever read. Not only does it show the other side of the history of colonial Australia, it's also really funny. Calling the Chief Protector of the Aborigines an "upwardly mobile bricklayer" (as Mudrooroo does) says it all. :)

A must read for every Australian and everyone else!
A novel that provides a much needed Aboriginal perspective on Australian history - and does so with great originality, compassion and humour. I recommend it as a truly important and fascinating read. It provides a unique perspective on colonialism and indigenous resistance that is too often ignored by mainstream press and politics.

A brilliant and complex book
This is a truly amazing book, a view into a world that has been lost, an examination of a historical tragedy that is unfortunately not unique: the death of an entire people at the hands of another. It is a compassionate work of great spiritual power, and ultimately affirms the human imagination and the strength of the human soul. It is written in extraordinarily restrained language by a justly acclaimed poet.

The author, Mudrooroo, may not be well known to American readers, but is a leading (and somewhat controversial) literary figure in Australia. The novel was previously published several times in the United States as by Colin Johnson, the author's birth name. I completely agree with the assessment of Stephen Cobb that it is an extraordinary accomplishment.

This book is like, the best!
I would like everyone to know that this book is super great. I was like so confused at first, but now everything is crystal clear. I learned that fertilization in a plant occurs in it's uterus and after gastrulation occurs the spores shoot out of the carpel and undergo a meiotic phase called the acrosomal stage. So like, if you're stumped about which bio book to get, you should totally get this one!

A superb laboratory manual.
The Biology Laboratory Manual by Guttman, Vodopich, Johnson, Raven, and Moore provides an easy to follow approach to introductory biology. It features many activities that can be completed on average between 2 and 3 hours. There are many photos and diagrams that are in full color, many pre-laboratory type questions, and a good amount of questions that are best answered during lab or after lab. This book is ideal for an advanced high school biology course or a freshman or sophomore college biology class. Unlike a fair amount of the laboratory texts out there, this one accompanies most biology books very well. Thus, the laboratory portion of class tends to blend very well with the lecture portion.

A Reader on Race, Civil Rights, and American Law: A Multiracial Approach

Well written, 5 Stars...
This book is a well thought out, logical approach to Critical Race Theory. The authors masterfully discuss and illustrate the concepts behind Critical Race Theory. A refreshingly honest approach without the paranoid Polly-Anna bent that has taken over some of the more high-profile personalities in the Critical Race Theory. I highly recommend this book to anyone who seriously contemplates race and the American society...

Cutting Edge Book!
This book is a "must read" for anyone interested in the serious study of civil rights in the modern multiracial United States. The authors have collected readings from a group of influential legal scholars considering a wide range of civil rights issues, from affirmative action, employment discrimination and hate speech to immigration law, language regulation, gender and sexual orietnation. Tightly edited, the selections are accessible and fascinating. Each chapter has a concise introduction, placing the chapter's readings into historical and legal context, and concludes with questions and suggested readings. The book is quite an achievement and well worth reading by civil rights scholars and students alike.

NOT JUST FOR MANAGERS, IT'S A HANDBOOK FOR ALL
They call it "Successful Manager's Handbook". That is correct. But one thing you should know about this beautifully structured text is that it benefits anyone who seeks knowledge from it. Thus, I would not advise you to wait until you become a 'successful manager' before paying attention to it.
Even if you are the most unsuccessful messenger around, the valuable productivity guidelines in this book would go a long way in defining and improving your status. If diligently applied, the principles of this book would enhance your overall potentials: be it official or domestic.
This book is a handbook for all. It is an asset for matured dealings.

I haven't read this book yet
I just picked up a copy in an airport bookstore. I looked at one suggestion, and used it when I got back to the office. My productivity has skyrocketed. I think a lot of the suggestions here are commonsense. But do any of us have enough commonsense?

Twilight Zone Scripts and Stories
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Streamline Pictures (01 August, 1996)
Author: George Clayton Johnson
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

Timeless Storytelling from the Twilight Zone
"The Twilight Zone" has stood the test of time. It is, in fact, the only dramatic show to have premiered in the 1950s that is still widely viewed today, and this wonderful collection helps remind us why. Johnson, while not as prolific a writer for "Twilight Zone" as the program's major figures -- Rod Serling, Charles Beaumont, and Richard Matheson -- was their artistic equal, as these scripts so eloquently prove. Fans of the filmed episodes will be fascinated to see the differences between Johnson's original scripts and the finished programs -- most are minor, but now and then they're significant ("A Game of Pool," for instance, has a completely different ending). The author's thoughtful introduction completes the package and makes this volume absolutely required reading for any serious fan of that timeless classic called "The Twilight Zone."

Timeless Storytelling from the Twilight Zone
The television series "The Twilight Zone" has stood the test of time, and George Clayton Johnson wrote several of the finest episodes (including "Nothing in the Dark" and "Kick the Can"). This wonderful volume collects all four of his scripts for the series along with several stories he sold to Rod Serling & Co. for adaptation by others. These works clearly show that, while not as prolific as the other key contributors to the series (Serling, Richard Matheson, Charles Beaumont), Johnson was their artistic equal. Fans of the series will be especially fascinated to compare the original scripts with the actual episodes as filmed--the differences are usually minor, but occasionally significant ("A Game of Pool" has a completely different ending). This is timeless writing, and along with Johnson's illuminating Introduction, makes for an absolutely essential addition to the library of any fan of "The Twilight Zone."

The book taught me alot. I can REBOUND!
I think George Karl wrote a very exelent book on the proper way to fight for a rebound. He taught me how to position, how to time, how to stand, and how to jump for a rebound. The drills taught to me in this book helped me do all these things and much much more. My speed and agility were increased from practicing the rebounding drills. Before reeding this book I was unable to get rebounds with any regularity or consistency. Now with techniques from George Karl's book "101 Basketball Rebounding Drills" I am a constant competitor for a rebound.

This is a treasure of photos!
I have collected ornaments for years and buy every book I can find on the subject. A collector will value the information and price guide that the author has compiled but the photos will be worth purchasing this book. You just won't find that many different types in one book! Highly recommended!
