Confessions of a God Seeker: A Journey to Higher Consciousness

If I only had one book to read!
It is really hard to describe this book. The stuff about Eckankar is interesting but this is only prelude to what I think is the real import of the book. Confessions deals with the overall issue of religion and its entrapping effect on mankind. Johnson bases this conclusion on the simple realization that all of life is about change and the expansion of awareness. How then can any religion claim to have the final answer admitting no room for an expansion of awareness or insight beyond what they teach. I was struck by the insights he offered about Christianity and the almost startling relevations about there being 16 other saviors (who died for our sins) before Christ. I had never heard this but the book lists their history and even shows how the history of Jesus was based on these stories, thus throwing the authenticity of the life of Christ into question. I won't reveal what else is in this chapter but its fair to say that the history this book reveals about Christianity will be shocking even as it enlightens. I think that all this is presented to lay the ground work for what the book is really about which is a change in our entire spiritual construct from worship (no matter who or what it may be) to the realization that the real search for God is the search to discover the divinity that lies within each person. In this sense the book is an enormous contribution to spiritual thought. He summarizes this search as the movement of consciousness to the realization that: I am, God Is, We are One. It took a bit to digest all the book contains but it is the one book I would want to be stranded on an island with because I think it would help me finally understand and get in touch with who I am spiritually.

The Truth Revealed
If you can read this book from cover to cover, and still hold strong and true to your beliefs about the path of Eckankar, then you and this path deserve each other. But if you are a seeker of truth wherever truth may lead, then you must let this book set you free.

The revelations in "Confessions" are at once painful, enlightening, and spiritually freeing. After my initial shock and disbelief began to subside, I became caught-up in the shear logic of how it explained with such compelling research and spiritual insight, the myth of Eckankar and how it has enraptured and deceived its members for so long. Once beyond the looking glass, "Confessions" builds a bridge that helps the reader prepare for the next leg of his/her spiritual journey.

But probably the most important thing I came away with after reading this book was that simply...I am my own path to God; I don't need an intermediary, whether outward or inward, to get me there. In fact, I am God of itself, individuated but becoming fully aware.

I hope you gather up the courage to walk through this journey as I and many others have done. If you do, you will come out of the other end...more alive, more awake, and more ready for God's truth than you have ever been.

"Confessions..." changed our lives
Mesage to Ford Johnson: I have been in Eckankar for almost 30 years. I got into Eckankar when I was 10 with my mom and sister. About a year and a half ago I left Eckankar because just too many things were not making sense to me anymore. My mom and sister left as well. I was a fifth initiate when I left. It felt very right to leave but I missed the Eck community. Anyway my husband was a sixth initiate but still felt he had to be true to Eckankar even though he did not believe many things that were written. My girlfriend let me read your book. I have also ordered a book from you so I can share it with others. My husband also read it and quit the next day. I cannot tell you how much me and my mom and sister and husband have loved your book. You have changed our lives. I wanted to thank you with all my heart for being so smart, brave, and pure at heart. You put that book together in such a way that no one could have done it better. My husband read the book only because of how much he respected you. Thank you for being brave and honest enough to help free, I am sure many people, with such grace. You are truly an amazing man. I cannot tell you the harmony you have helped create in my home. The way you put it all together was the best!!!! Anyway I look forward to your next book. You were made to do this. Much gratefullness.

Long Live The Queen
A warm-hearted and touching look into the life of bees. Through the eyes of the author, the personality, social culture and care of bees are explored with love and wit. While scientifically sound, this book reads more like a novel than a text book. I highly recommend this book. Thoroughly enjoyable.

delightful read
Without being highly educated in scientific terms or history, this book was a wonderful and enertaining read. I have always been fascinated by insects, especially bees and ants, and this book fulfilled every question I had on bees. Longgood has written it so well that it is like reading a novel rather than nonfiction. This book makes one want to go out in the hills and study the nearest colony of insects all day long.

THIS BOOK MAKES A BEELOVER OUT OF EVERYONE.
MR LONGGOOD HAS TAKEN THE SEEMINGLY MUNDANE CHORES OF LIFE WITHIN THE BEE HIVE AND GIVEN THEM A PERSPECTIVE THAT EVEN THE THE MOST STAUNCH INSECT HATER WILL FIND FACINATING. THIS BOOK BRINGS YOU TO A LEVEL OF FASCINATION WITH LITTLE CREATURES WHICH WILL FOSTER AN APPRECIATION FOR BEES THAT YOU NEVER COULD HAVE IMAGAGINED.

Very Highly Recommended!
I have not seen a better book than this regarding the building of Custom Fords and Mercs. It covers in detail all of the standard body, and more importantly, mechanical modifications that are commonly done to these cars. There is a great wealth of ideas in here, including things you may not have thought about,or have heard of,but did not understand why or how these modifications were done.It is absolutely required reading for anyone who is planning to build,or have built for them,a Custom Car.Don't start without this book in hand!

Svengill: The Shark and Me-A Sierra Club Book
As a diver at Marine World/Africa USA it was part of Don Reed's job to swim with sharks. He fed them and cleaned their tank. At first he was afraid when he felt a scratchy stomach brush past him or saw an approaching pair of jaws. Soon, however, he grew used to the sharks. He was even comfortable with them, admiring their strength and agility. He especially cared for Sevengill, a massive brown shark with black spots and golden eyes.

Sevengill did not scare Don Reed. He began to trust her...Until the terifying day he felt her teeth. Then he realized his mistake. A shark can never be someone's pet.

Excellent advice for cat lovers
Pam Johnson-Bennett offers excellent, common-sense advice for dealing with feline behavioral problems. The situations and solutions discussed in this book suggest that, no matter how bad your kitty's behavior, there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. We humans just need to pay better attention to what our cat companions are telling us and to learn how to think like a cat. Johnson-Bennett is one of the best feline behaviorists around and this would be a great book to read if your cat has any issues. Highly recommended

hiss and tell: true stories from the files of a cat shrink
A wonderfully funny, easy to read book. Oh how true these stories and experiences are for cat lovers.

Sixteen Cat Mysteries and Their Solutions
Pam Johnson-Bennett is an expert on cat behavior and gives great advice on raising healthy, happy cats. But in this book, she relates sixteen cases of bizarre behavior by cats. We have a cat attacking its owner only on Sunday, or a cat carefully biting an owner's boyfriend in an embarrassing place, or a cat launching itself headfirst against a wall, or - well, you get the idea. Are these cats mentally unbalanced? No! Pam, the Sherlock Holmes of the cat world, uncovers the basis for each cat's strange behavior in sixteen entertaining mysteries. We cat owners know that cats actually behave in an amazingly logical fashion. It's cat owners that are mixed up, until our calculating cats train us to their satisfaction. This wonderfully-entertaining book illustrates these characteristics. Some of the stories are hilarious. One may bring tears to your eyes, but all of them will entertain you and are well worth reading.
