Forming A Relationship With The Tarot
This book is incredible for forming a relationship with the Tarot whether you have been reading it for years or are brand-new. However, there is virtually nothing about analyzing/reading the cards, so people very new to the tarot should also get a "beginner book" with interpretations and such.

This is a GREAT book, with a feel-good attitude.
This is a wonderful tarot book, full of fun activities and ideas, as well as tarot spreads, recipies (yes, recipies!) and much, much more that are all useful, fun to do and easy to follow. However, I do suggest that the reader has a basic background and familiarity with the cards before starting, as it doesn't give meanings or descriptions of the cards per se. It is even good to share with children, as they wourld enjoy some of the activities also. The author has a very warm writing style and it seems like she is talking with you, not telling you, as she describes things. And, it's not dry and humorless like many other tarot books. A wonderful addition to the library of anyone who has tarot cards. I only wish I had purchased it sooner!

A must have!
After several friends suggested this book I ordered it and was unable to put it down after opening the box it came in. It is a wonderful book for parents or anyone who works with or is around kids. It is easy to use and has wonderful ideas of celebrating the wheel of the year with kids. I think this is a must have for anyone who wants to raise children to be more connected to Mother Earth.Blessed be!

The Best of Non-Religious, Earth Celebrations...
..For the whole family!

I was looking for a book the whole family would enjoy, no matter what religion you are. Pagan, Wiccan, Christian, Jewish...This book is it!

Wonderful ideas for celebrating Nature and life all around us. All the items needed for the crafts are easy to find, or cheap to buy. Nothing complicated in the book.

Great family projects you will soon make a tradition every Summer, Winter, Spring and Fall in your home!

Wondeful book with lots of fun activities!
If you can only buy one book on pagan parenting, buy this one! It includes several activities, recipes, and suggestions for family altars for each holiday. If you are looking for new, earth-honoring traditions for your family, then this book is for you! I highly recommend it for all parents.

Fantastic!
Great recipes broken out by seasons and mid-seasons but in addition to the recipes, there are lots of stories, poems, ideas for celebration. I just love it - I read a little, cook a little. Good book for getting connected, food, body, spirit, earth.

Simply Scrumptious!
This is the most favored and treasured cookbook in my kitchen. Not only does Cait have a way with her words, making you feel like a close friend and confidente, but she has some of the most delicious vegetarian recipes that I have ever tasted. She includes not only recipes for the main meals, but also ones for appetizers, soups, salads and desserts! There are whole menus for each season and earth-centered holiday! In addition, Cait gives poems, information, kitchen altar decoration, and rituals for each seasonal menu. There are herbal hints for cleaning and a great bibliography with wonderful "must read" books. I have always enjoyed Cait Johnson's books, but this is my favorite. It is a book that you would want to keep and pass down to your children and it gave me a love of cooking that I thought I lost. The recipes are healthy and delicious but filled with thought and spirit. I cannot urge you enough to check this cookbook out! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

A Truely Celebratory Feast!
Cait Johnson's "Cooking Like a Goddess" is a wonderful addition to many a cook's bookshelf. Not only is it a fine vegetarian cookbook, but it seeks to wrap a broader context around something most of us often think of as drudgery: cooking for ourselves and our families.

Bringing back the wisdom of earth-based spiritual traditions and their inherent honoring of the feminine/nurturing role, she helps us redefine ourselves NOT as cook and chief bottle washer but as something very sacred, very vital, and very precious to society as a whole. Not since Laurel Robertson's preface to "Laurel's Kitchen" have I found a cookbook that celebrated the sacredness of the role of nurturing and cooking the way Cait's book does. I've had as much fun erecting my kitchen altar and following her suggestons for seasonal ritual as I have following and then eating her yummy recipes. Enjoy!

Don't buy it for the love cakes...
Overall this is a really nice little book, it's well laid out, the illustrations are fitting, and the extra info included is very apropriate to its theme.

But the proof of any good recipe book is in the success of its recipes. I believe there are 3 categories a good recipe should fit: it must sound delicious, it should smell good when baking/cooking, and the finished product should make you not want to wait a proper ten minute cooling period to stuff it in your mouth. Aphrodities Love Cookies only fit the first 2 of those requirements, looking more like a splat of poo when pulled from the oven. (sorry Cait) They tasted nice and herby but looked absolutley dreadful. I finally decided that the reason they are called "love cookies" is becuase only someone who truly loves you will try them. If anyone else has had the same problem with this particular recipe, you might try using all the witchy herbal ingredients with a good, tried and true, oatmeal cookie base.

I will still try some of the other recipes in the book, every one sounds delicious. However, I am suspicious now as to how accurate the ingredient measurements are. It's lucky for my family that I keep a batwing and toadstool pizza in the freezer.

A heartfelt offering
This book lays out a spiritual practice of reconnection with nature and the seasons of the year through the food we eat and its preparation. As with all paths there is a need to establish the environment and rituals for practice that enable the alchemy of transformation. With chapters on setting up the sacred space of the kitchen and rituals based around the wheel of the year, the stage is set for connection to our world through feeding our bodies. The healthy, earthy vegetarian recipes sound deeply satisfying for both body and soul. The dishes I have tried were a joy to make and eat.

Spells and meals centered around the eight pagan holidays
The combination of Wicca and cookery is not usual, but works well in a title where the author shares spells and meals centered around the eight pagan holidays, ideas for creating a kitchen altar, and season preparation methods which account for planetary signs and changes. The recipes for seasonal fruits and vegetables provide plenty of ideas.

Fun for groups
While for use with a single person or groups, I have found that this book is most helpful with groups. My women's' spirituality group and I enjoy playing the games at our meetings.

Be warned, this book does require a little knowledge of the cards. If you are looking for "meanings" of cards, this book is not for you. If you want to try more interesting spreads that are revealing, then this is a great book for you. If you are working with a group of people who are learning the cards, this is a wonderful book.

Creative Ideas For Using Tarot Cards
Cait Johnson has a simple, yet sophisticated approach to the tarot. This book contains a lot of creative ways to use the tarot alone or with others. Her suggestions are fun and useful.

This book contains multiple detailed spreads
Don't let the title fool you. I first brushed this book off thinking that it was just a game book like pin the tail on the donkey. Upon opening the book, I found that the author has an appreciation for the cards and the ability to use them. The spreads include those that focus on the inner soul, spreads to share with your mate, and spreads to share with friends. I found the book to be enlightening and enjoyed the spreads.
