There is nothing as satisfying as a well executed crime.
This book came to my attention in the 1980's and stands as the only fiction book I have re-read more than 5 times. It is my favorite piece of fiction. A creative and imaginative plot which involves a well executed crime with an intelligent highly motivated and rightous hero. There is subterfuge, larceny, government entanglemnet and love, what more does a guy need? They say that crime doesn't pay, well that's only if you're not good at it, what if we had more skilled criminals like Tony? Criminals like this should make all law enforcement think twice.

Really, REALLY Good Read . . .
Have read this again for AT LEAST the fifth time. An intricate story; lots of detail and intrigue with much careful planning before the final pay-off is---after several close-calls---finally achieved. Characters are sympathetic & interesting, and the main plot---the planning, the snatch and the get-away--- are wonderfully worked out and even believable. Would LOVE to see this as a movie.

Crackerjack Plot
A mind-boggling plot - starting from a slow, almost harmless build-up to a nail-biting finale or revelation. One hell of a ransom payoff idea. Still remember it after so many years. Wonder where I could get my hands on it though?

An easy good-time read
I was first introduced to The Cincinatti Kid via the movies. Steve McQueen and Edward G. Robinson played the poker pair and a wonderful cast of supporting characters made it the greatest poker movie of all time. The book is 80% the same, but not as clever as the screenplay. All of the characters are there, more or less, and the situations are nearly the same. The Cincinatti Kid is a young phenom of a poker player ready to play the man (Lancey Howard). Lancey is old and obviously at the end of his career. Will the kid beat the man? That's why you read the book. Go ahead give it a try. I am a slow reader and completed it in an afternoon. 152 pages. Big Type.
