Italian made delicious and easy
As a restauranteur for over 10 years I have read and cooked with hundreds of books. Ms. Kleinman's recipes are simple and delicious. My favorites include the Pizza Salsicce, Pasta Muro Leccese as well as the Polenta and all the basics. Her uncooked Tomato Sauce has become a staple in my home. This is a great book for the Home Chef.

fantastically simple recipes for Italian trattoria cuisine
The restaurant cookbook of Angeli Caffe in Los Angeles conveys the passion and simplicity of its Italian trattoria cuisine with recipes for the important triad of pizza, pasta, and panini as well as complimentary elements of calzone, sfincione, panzerotti, focaccia, cicchetti, bruschetta, and tramezzini. One basic recipe for pizza dough suffices for use in the pizza recipes and emphasizes this simplicity. Recipes are introduced with a short description providing background, significance, and/or tidbits of culinary knowledge. Nothing short of a visit to the restaurant should satisfy you after reading this cookbook!

Truly Enjoyable Read
I read this book over the weekend and loved it. This book has something in it for every fiction lover. My sister stole the book from me because she wanted to read it and I had to take it back. She can buy her own! Ms. McDaniel is a wonderful author and I can't wait to read her next book.

A really good read
I thought that Once Over Lightly by Kathleen Therese McDaniel combined a unique blend of depth and humor to create a page-turning delightful story. The dog, Gershwin, is one of the best characters I have ever found in literature. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good book that leaves you thinking, but also smiling.

They don't write 'em like this any more.
Alisha was swept overboard and rescued by a handsome rouge (of course) of a captain. The normal passion, love ya, hate ya, love ya and want ya, but it's fun getting there.

It was a great read and I haven't read one of these in years and forgot how much I enjoyed them.

I COULDN'T PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! LOVED IT!
This book was so romantic. I really couldn't put it down. This is one of my "keeper" books for sure. I fell in love with Angela and Royce. I loved it when he first lays eyes on her after her "transformation" from gypsy to lady and how he didn't recognize her. After that, he was a goner. Or when he tries to bathe her because she refuses and he discovers that she's a woman. It was really funny the way he was stammering. Well, I really loved this book and glad I got it.

COULD VERY WELL BE A KEEPER!
JACK WOLF - a predator and a gambler driven by a lust for revenge closely resembling his name sake. A Lone Wolf.

Doctor Terry Duncan - a pediatrician and a volunteer with the Flying Sams - just out of an eight year marriage. In deperate need of a pilot.

Juan Navarro - A Mayan faced gambler and drug lord with a notorious weakness for cards. He had information that Jack Wolf wanted. They both played for high stakes.

The Cruz brothers - Bernardo and Billy - hitmen - thugs and killers. Their hit caused them to sign their own death warrent.

Angelita "little Angel" Yberra - baby sister to little Julio - to be given up for adoption. Much loved by Julio and his father.

It took "Doc" and little Angelita to start a thaw of Jack's frozen heart. It took Jack to teach "Doc" about her own sensuality and little Angel to draw them both together in a familial union.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M with a lot of action - humor - and pathos and one sex scene that made sense. Action takes place in Baja California, Mexico -- Does that make sense?? Wonderful people characters - great progression of story -- Try it you should like it.

A pretty good book.
I have never read Kathleen Kane before, but I thought it talked way too much about devils and angels. I guess I should have known from the title, but I didn't know she meant a literal angel. If Gabe is trying to get in good with heaven and not go down below, why does he fornicate with Maggie and not until way afterwards think about marriage? Well, atleast heaven was forgiving. And it was hilarious that Maggie ran a restaurant for a living and couldn't cook to save her life.

A sigh, A cry, and once again a winner
Catch A Fallen Angel, was the second in many of Kathleen's books that I have read . She has done it again! By captivating my heart. This time with Gabe; who has an untimley death but gets a second chance with a deal made by who seems to be the devil. And there is Maggie; who thinks shes the happiest she can be with her little son Jake. And no one will forget the little town of Regret where this all takes place... Curious how it all works out?....well then you'll just have to read and find out! Trust me you wont be sorry.

A PERFECT READ FOR A COLD WINTER EVENING
If you've never read one of Kathleen Kane's magical books, give yourself a treat and read CATCH A FALLEN ANGEL (You'll want to rush out and find all her other titles the moment you finish it. ) And for other die-hard fans such as myself, Kathleen Kane has done it again and written another keeper!

This charming and quirky story will warm you from the heart out. CATCH A FALLEN ANGEL has it all. Good vs. evil. A hero with a BIG problem, a heroine who is resourceful, determined and tenacious, an adorable little boy.

As always the name Kathleen Kane is synonymous with a fabulous read.

Stone Angel
After racing through the three previous books in the series (Mallory's Oracle, The Man Who Lied to Women, & Killing Critics,) I could hardly wait to start Stone Angel. Kathy Mallory is a fascinating character and the hints about her past in the rest of the series really whetted my appetite for the truth promised in the fourth book. Unfortunately, Mallory is only a supporting player in this one. Charles Butler (in jeans on a big white horse!), Riker, and some interesting locals have center stage, here. The Louisiana setting is intriguing, with all kinds of colorful characters from an elderly ecoterrorist to an Elmer Gantry-style evangelist, but the final solution to the mystery is more sordid than satisfying. Anyone who enjoyed the other Mallory books will want to read this, but be warned - it is slow going! All the right ingredients are here, but without a more active role for the main character, this literary gumbo ends up having all the flavor of dishwater. Author O'Connell seems unable to get past the charm of the young Kathy (who was actually more interesting as a wild child in New York City than as the happy doctor's daughter she used to be before her life went bad)in order to show any kind of catharsis in the adult. I would read more of her books on the strength of the rest of the Mallory series, but I would not recommend Stone Angel to anyone who was not already in love with Mallory.

The Best of the Kathy Mallory series
Kathy Mallory is back in the most riveting, complex novel of the series. Sociopathic New York Detective Mallory takes on the bayous of Lousiana as she returns to her hometown to set some things straight. The mystery is not as important as the story and O'Connell introduces several new, very interesting characters - specifically Sheriff Tom Jessop and Augusta Trebec. The interactions and the actions are fascinating and the plot twists and turns enough to mesmerize. Mallory is not the whole story in this novel, which is a turn for the better. In addition, we finally see a little bit of human reaction and emotion. Mallory may be made of stone, but the surface chips slightly here. This is a keep-you-up-at-night book; O'Connell keeps getting better and better. You must read this one but be forewarned, it makes more sense if you've read the other three Mallory novels first. Let's all hope that O'Connell continues to humanize Mallory more and more (but not too much, she's at her most interesting when she's in her total sociopath mode) and can find a way to bring Tom Jessop into future books - the surface stereotype small town southern sheriff with much more than meets the eye! Mallory is the most interesting hero(ine) introduced in many years and O'Connell characterizes her perfectly. Steve Isenhowe

Well-Written accomplishment as usual for O'Connell
I think that Carol O'Connell has perfected her Character, Kathleen Mallory by this time to seem like the cold, unfeeling perfectionist on the outside but really does hold some aspects of human emotion.

Mallory is on a quest for information...information on the death of her mother and her illegal "partner" chases after her in an attempt to try and win her affections.

Ah, I know what you're thinking...but alas, this is not one of those sappy romances with a mystery weaved into it. No, the mystery is definitely dominant and the romance is just a subtle tap on the shoulder...enough to keep you wondering about the outcome of this one-sided relationship, but your brain working furiously to solve the mystery.

I'll admit that the identity of the killer was not difficult to figure out, but for some reason, I still couldn't close the book...I just kept on reading.

I highly reccomend this book and all other books written by Carol O'Connell. However, it is in your best intrest to read the Mallory series starting from the beginning so you know the whole story, beginning with "Mallory's Oracle".

totally disrespects birthparent's roles
As a birthmother of a beautiful 6 month old daughter in a fully open adoption, I was sick to my stomach when I read this book. The only mention of either birthparent was the small reference adressing the birthmother as a "birthlady". I for one, as well as the many other corageous and wonderful woman I've met, who made the gut wrenching, and most selfless decison one could ever be asked to do, that is to place our child in a home we knew we could not provide, for the pure sake of our children's well being deserve more respect than one measly little sentance about our loss and decison whether the adoption is open or closed. I believe that children who are adopted are special gifts from God and that they were meant to be with their adoptive families, as the book addresses but to let your adopted child think that they were not born and that God just placed them here through the means of this middle man type figure, and that their "birthlady" has not suffered and missed them and thought about them everyday since,is not only confusing for a child, who may be unsure why he or she was adopted but could also make a child feel sad. I think that a book that addresses how much the adopted family loves each other and how they are meant to be together is great, but I think that one with a little more respect for birthparents, that mentions them as the real people that they are, not angels sent from God, would be a lot more appropriate.

Just too silly...
My wife and I are practicing Christians and have two beautiful adopted daughters of African-American and Hispanic descent. We found that the book was too far out there in its use of a religious setting and we didn't like that all of the children are caucasian. Many adoptive parents have children who are not caucasian. Also, we felt that the birthmother was really disrespected by being called birthlady. Any woman who voluntarily puts their child up for adoption out of love for the child deserves to be called birthmother.

Fabulous, Positive, Christian Book on Adoption
This is the best adoption book I've seen for explaining adoption to children! It focuses on the adoption being part of God's plan. It starts in heaven where baby angels are learning baby skills to earn their stars and be born. The Great Guardian Angel shows each child the parents "God wants YOU to have". The babies instantly love the parents they are shown. Amy, a soon to be adopted child, sees her parents and sees the "Light of Love" - shining from their hearts. Charlie, who will live with his biological parents, sees the Light of Love in his parents plus the "Glow of Life" in his mommy. Amy is sad because she does not think her parents are ready for her, as her mommy does not have the Glow of Life in her tummy. The Great Guardian explains that her parents have been praying for her arrival for a long time and are more than ready. Amy is also shown her birthmother, who is described as having ..."love so dear to do God's will for Amy here. She (birthmother) is God's messenger who will deliver you to your parents."

When Charlie is born, he goes to his parents by train. The Great Guardian Angel tells Amy she will arrive by boat. "I don't care how I get there. I just want to go HOME", replies Amy. When Amy is ready to be born the sailboat is surrounded by angels, which the Great Guardian Angel explains as angels wanting to "feel the special joy of your parents' love too." Amy falls asleep in the sailboat and wakes up with her adoptive parents.
