The pain of coming home
Children adopted overseas adore this story, regardless of their country of origin. It is especially helpful for children adopted at an older age.

Having a home and a permanent family is wonderful, of course. But older children don't know that when they come home. They are often angry at being uprooted and taken to strange new places, where people speak a foreign toungue. They are understandably frightened. So many new things in the early days assault their senses that days can seem like a lifetime.

This soothing story eases the pain of that transition. It helps them to know that they are wanted, waited for, and loved, even before they arrive. It eases the terrible pain of the transition. If you buy no other adoption story for your internationally adopted child, make it this one. Alyssa A. Lappen

"One of the Best Adoption Books I've Found"
I have an adopted daughter from Korea and we have many, many books on adoption. This is the best one I've found - it describes so well the experience my daughter, and we had, and makes me cry every time I read it. I've found it helpful not only for her but for her friends and classmates to understand her experience.

A wonderful book on adoption
As a parent of two wonderful Korean boys, this book is a fantastic story of a child's travel to be with his forever family. I read this book for the children's story at my church on my son's first Coming to America Day (the anniversary of his arrival) and the response was wonderful. My sons really enjoy listening to this story and it has provided an avenue for us to talk about their adoption adventure and the plane ride from Korea to the United States. I high recommend this book. It is a must own book for parents of international adoptees.

INFINITE REVELATION
You cannot imagine how understanding the Hebrew has changed my life, and empowered me to know what, and how supreme Life is. Combined with the New Testament Word Study, this will enable you to see into the Spiritual domain, and enthrall endlessly at the genius and pre-meditation of YHVH's relished Infinite meaning(s) of His name(s), passions and intense paradigms; making His own self-Existent and Eternal Expression personal to you.

A Good Resource to Have
I own many of the author's resources and both word studies. This text really aids in the study of the Old Testament. This was the first word study book that I owned. This easy to use text helps the reader get into the Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament.

This text is along the same lines at the New Testament word study written by the same author. It is very usable for the novice readers who are learning about the Old Testament, Hebrew and Aramaic language. I found this to be a valuable resource when I was first learning to get into the scriptures of the Old Testament.

Any bible student, or anybody who wants to go deeper into Old Testament scripture could benefit from this word study text. It really makes learning about the scriptures easy. A more advanced student of the Old Testament may not get as much use from this as a beginner. This text gives the reader enough practical information without getting into the pointless information that is useless outside of a Doctoral thesis paper.

Depth
This book is a must for anyone, not just ministers, seeking to completely understand the scriptures and the original intent behind them. With the Hebrew text in the coloumns this is a perfect study guide. Also includes Strongs reference numbers, a lexial aide and definitions to some of the words. Perfect by itself, and enhanced that much more with a Strongs, as they are made to work hand in hand.

Outstanding Guide for Caregivers of Alzheimer's Patients
This well crafted hardbound volume is in it's third edition and a welcome standard for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. Written and edited by a team of doctors, nurses, and socialworkers, this book aspires to be the comprehensive guide to caring for patients with dementia. The first section focuses on brain function and how alzheimer's disease is identified; section two turns it's attention to causes and diagnoses of alzheimer's; section three brings forth an array of issues related to patient care and management of alzheimer's behaviors (perhaps the best and most pratical section of the book, because much of it is directly related to day to day care of the patient); section for focuses on special issues such as stress caregivers experience and legal issues; section five is perhaps the second best unit of the book, with practical ideas and solutions for caregivers in finding support and resources in the community to assist in caregiving. Overall, I highly recommend this book. It does have a hefty price tag, but it is well worth it

A LUXE LOOK AT WESTERN GARB
If your idea of Western wear is John Wayne in chaps and creased 10 gallon hat - forget it. Rolling Stone Press Editor Holly George-Warren and clothing designer Michelle Freedman have produced a luxe look at Western garb that is more Las Vegas than Laredo.

The iconic American cowboy typifies our country's spirit to many, from New York City sidewalk stompers who have no saddles but don boots to diamond encrusted Grammy award winners who twang with the best of them.

So, for those attracted by the lore and lure of ranching days, here is a photographed filled bow to all garb Western. It begins with the practical clothing needed by scours, traders, and ranch workers, then details how early movie stars such as Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Dale Evans and Roy Rogers spurred a popular trend in cowboy wear.

That vogue was to later influence British rock musicians and high end fashion designers such as Ralph Lauren.
"There's a little bit of cowboy in everybody," the foreword states and that would be seem to be true as the pages of How The West Was Worn reveal glimpses of tastefully displayed silver buckles, jauntily worn Stetsons, and rhinestone embellished rigs that never saw a range.

- Gail Cooke

Wild & western romp chronicling the classic American costume
A colorful and comprehensive examination of American style at it's most iconic - the authors have done a wonderful job telling the story of how cowboy duds came to symbolize America the world over. A must have for anyone interested in the West, design, decorative arts, fashion, pop culture or Americana/American History. The book is gorgeously presented, expertly written and endlessly entertaining, the photography is beautiful, and the interviews are rare and revealing. From the plains and frontiers, to Buffalo Bill to the Hollywood Cowboy, Country & Western, Rock & Roll, the current fashion craze, the authors leave no cowpie unturned as they reveal how the cowboy hat became our collective unconscious. The most complete record of the lives and work of N. Turk, Rodeo Ben, and Nudie to date. How did the famed North Hollywood rodeo tailor get men in the 20th century to wear fanciful embroidered and rhinestoned creations, that became more and more elaborate in a competitive fervor to outshine each other?(And how did Keith Richards cause him to draw the line?) Find out. From the fanatical to the casual observer, and especially anyone who has ever bedazzled denim or worn a pair of cowboy boots, all will treasure this book.

Best work on the Little Big Horn campaign ever written.
LITTLE BIG HORN DIARY (and MARCH OF THE COLUMNS) is the best work ever done on the 1876 campaign. James Willert, who passed away only a few days ago, should always be remembered as the true modern-day scholar on this subject. Read this book and you will discover why I say this. This great work has only been in limited hardbound thus far. Willert's work needs to be read by a mass audience. Only then will the truth about Custer and those days at the Big Horn be honestly known...Upton & Sons and Willert's family will now attempt to bring this great masterpiece to the entire populace where it belongs.

We are what we eat!
I read this several years ago in an anthropology course and it was truly enlightening. It describes how elements of the counterculture in the 60's came to view the mass production of food as the fundamental basis of industrial economy. They sought to decentralize, communalize and humanize this massive "combine." Unfortunately, they were co-opted, by the giant corporations that today continue to shovel their bitter porridge into our gaping pie holes. This book is more than about food production, but how corporate capitalism manufactures values, and disires and marginalizes those who threaten to provide viable alternatives. An excellent book.

Impeccably accurate historian
James Willert writes with the perspective of a historian....no opinions and no drama. His writing respects the intelligence of the reader. His bibliography is an excellent resource for both historians of the Indian Wars and family tree researchers who suspect ancestral involvement in the Indian Wars

An Interesting Twist To Dean's Last Ride
I read this book when it first was published, so I am obviously not in the best position to critique it at least a couple years later. However, when it comes to James Dean I am an admitted addict and have read almost everything that has been published about him over the past 30 years. What makes this book a standout is that it concentrates on Dean's death as opposed to his life. It provides very detailed information re: his last ride and how his death and the subsequent hoopla surrounding it was handled. It also provides quite a lot of previously unpublished material in regard to the period immediately before and after his death. The author has saved us all a lot of pain and irritation by researching this material in a factual and precise manner.
What makes this book a positive departure from the other Dean book is that there is no psychological stuff about Dean's tortured youth or attempts to affix a death wish to him, just a lot of good hard facts. Joe Friday couldn't do a better job in that area.
The best part of this book? It sticks to the truth and makes for an interesting read.

not just a read - an experience
Beath makes the death of James Dean a very personal experience for the reader. This is not a book one reads and forgets - the reader has participated in the author's passionate search for the substance behind the tragedy and the reader is changed. I'm ready for more from this author.

One of the Best Dean Books in Print
The most amazing aspect of Beath's book is the original and innovative research. Basically, Beath was the first Hollywood biographer to dig into public records--traffic reports, lawsuit testimony--and uncover facts about Dean's death that had been previously overlooked. If Pulitzer Prizes were not the preserve of Manhattan writers and their pals, Warren Newton Beath of Bakersfield, California would have won one for this book.
