That is just the first step into a world of mystery, suspense and the unknown. "Hunted" is filled with excitement and the unexpected but at a slower pace than anticipated. There were parts that seemed to drag on like a soap opera in an attempt to prolong the story. Overall, it was still a book worth reading, although it lacked the punch and pace of Jacobson's "False Accusations."

Jacobson truly matures as a master storyteller in this spectacular follow-up to his bestselling first novel, False Accusations. After reading the first four or five pages, I knew I was in for a long night of fast-paced page churning. The characters are so real that they could be your friends, co-workers or next-door neighbors...which makes what happens to them in "The Hunted" even more frightening and sobering. The plot is timely, believable, well-considered and chock full of those signature Jacobson clever plot twists. Alan Jacobson truly outdoes himself with The Hunted. This is a must-read book!

I loved this book until I reached the last page and then I wanted to cry out in frustration! This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The suspense just builds and builds and you keep thinking things are wrapping up too neatly and something awful is going to happen. I could not even guess as to what it could be but when I finally found out I was disappointed. The ending just does not seem to go with the rest of the story. It is very off and not believable and I felt cheated. Otherwise I enjoyed the book immensely. I found some parts to be a bit dull about the DNA and the repetition of Ms. Harding's deeds but all in all a commendable first novel. I look forward to reading "THE HUNTED" and hope the ending is better.

"False Accusations" centers around two very believable acts: a double murder and a rape, items we read about in the news everyday. To this avid mystery reader it combines the elements I find most terrifying in a book of this genre: the psychopathic personality lurking within the brilliant mind. For it is in the psychopath that you have the terror of the make-believe-monster-under-the-bed hidden behind the façade of the next door neighbor. It is believable and it is real.

In this gripping novel of suspense, Jacobson realistically portrays the advanced technology of 21st century forensic sciences with a thorough knowledge of trial procedures and the win-at-any cost attitude of counsel for both sides. This is unfortunate, since for many of the characters it is a truth-be-damned approach to scoring a win for your team.

"False Accusations" demonstrates how quickly a perfect life can unravel based solely on an accusation of sexual misconduct, and that there is a certain danger in failing to avoid circumstances that are part of a vengeful plot. It is a frame-up from the beginning, but one where the subject has no idea that there is a plot behind seemingly innocent actions and interactions.

"False Accusations" is designed to be an edge of the seat thriller, and it succeeds at that. It is left up to the reader to consider the situation, try and make sense of it, and ponder...is it fiction, or is it fact? As frightening as the twists, the turns, and the conclusion are, you are left to wonder if this plot could happen, has happened. A gripping, suspenseful novel. Five stars.

I was drawn into the story from the very first page. The author developed real, believable characters (that you come to both love and hate), and put them in a story that is compelling, relatable and brilliantly crafted. As a future lawyer, I was impressed with the author's knowledge of the legal system and his ability to explore its structure and flaws in a straightforward, easy to understand manner without dominating the plot or insulting my intelligence. I have recommended it to all my friends, and none of them have been disappointed. This is just an all-around fantastic book!
