An Amazing Tale
What I wouldn't do to get this book published again. One of my ongoing personal tasks is visiting used book stores and grabbing every copy of this book I can find and loaning them out - I first read it 5 years ago, found it at some youth hostel in europe and couldn't put it down in my travels - I kept looking forward to train rides where I could just read non-stop!

If you're stateside - write down the author's name and keep it in your wallet - start searching used bookstores near you - good luck, and keep on sharing books!

Read this book and find your place in this world.....
.......especially if you are just starting out (your life that is) and things arent looking too good. I read this book about 14 years ago when I was 17 living in Kashmir and not in a very positive frame of mind. It was an amazingly inspirational experience reading this book. I still remember reading it very fast even though it was very big but towards the end I slowed down to savour this almost other life I was immersed in. It is an amazing epic that definitely has had an influence on my life, although I don't know what all to attribute to the book but certainly an impossible amount of positivity - that has even weathered and survived the market conditions during the current dotcom demise ;^) - comes to mind.

The Green King to this day remains my favorite book of all time, although Frank Herbert's Dune series comes in a close second. After chancing upon the book here on amazon and refreshing my memory of it I definitely want to get hold of a copy and read it again.

Aamir

A thouroughly enjoyable plot, a one sitting read.
Ever have that opprotunity to take a long read along on a vacation... The Green King is a story of a man and his dream, a dream to build a nation where there once was none. In his quest he faces Nazis and beuraucrats, two great evils and defies the first but not the latter. A reclusive Multi-millionaire/billionaire it brings to mind Howard Hughes eccentric legacy and crosses it with Broffman ambition. A book strikingly similar to a Archer or Clancy in it's ability to make the character and the idea come to life. If you see this book snatch it up. It may be a long read, but one of the most enjoyable and enticing of any I have ever had. A true treasure.

GOD BLESS PETE SEEGER
The first time I came across Pete Seeger was at a peace in at Flushing Meadow Park. Here I am thirty years later sharing Pete Seeger story with my children. There are not many artist I can say that about. Some thing about Pete makes me feel good about life. Get his CD's and this book and share them with your family. Your world will be a richer place.

Truly wonderful contribution
Another truly wonderful contribution from our old companion on the trail, Pete Seeger. Thank you, Pete!

Hands down my son's favorite book ever
The storytelling tips and lead ins are interesting and quite charming. The best thing about this book, however, is the great stories.

Every evening my son walks out of his room with the book hidden behind his back and a big grin on his face. He holds it up in front of me and asks "ready?" We absolutely LOVE this book!

Pete Seeger's Abiyoyo returns for a surprising story
Pete Seeger's famous song "Abiyoyo" is a family favorite of ours, so I was intrigued to happen upon his "Abiyoyo Returns." For anyone unfamiliar with the story, Abiyoyo is a fearsome giant who eats people when he's hungry and is generally destructive and scary.

In this tale, warmly illustrated by Michael Hays, Abiyoyo is summoned up to help move a boulder so that the local townsfolk can build a dam. But the magic wand used to call Abiyoyo up breaks, and there is no way to get Abiyoyo to disappear again. There is a Pandora's Box element to the tale, and the wisdom of elders is deftly interwoven with bright ideas contributed by the children in the village.

Kids will get a special kick out of the idea that the young heroine--who looks to be maybe eight or ten years old--comes up with the idea that will allow the townspeople to peacefully co-exist with Abiyoyo, while still getting their dam built and the boulder removed.

A Childhood Favorite Continues..
Continue your favorite childhood book with your children. My children love Abiyoyo Returns. A wonderful story about differences, acceptance and love. It will be a favorite in your family's library. Great holiday gift.

Software Process Bible
I keep this book nearby at all times in my job. The chapter on configuration management provides a concise guide to formalizing and implementing a change control process.

Most organizations have lots of forms, but invariably lack a clearly articulated software process (that is easy to follow!).

This book is an excellent desk reference and should be the bible for any IT Manager.

Simple, easy to read and it works...
I needed information about process improvement fast! I bought this book and read it over a long weekend. By Monday I felt like an expert in strategic software process development and improvement. This is definitely the one book any manager can use to improve their operation and their own skills.

Mr. Tom, You're Silly.
This is a retelling of the classic folktale about a young man who agrees to marry a young maiden, but only after he had found three people who are sillier than she. Thus he begins a quest that leads him to all sorts of strange places where he meets many silly people. But in the end, the suitor learns that it is he who is the silliest of them all.

The illustrations are wonderful and really make the story come alive in a real, but humorous way. I love the cat, he has some of the best lines in the whole book.

I loved this book because of the old folktale, but it's still a great story for modern kids. My younger siblings enjoyed the story, even though they called parts of it strange.

A wonderful classic folktale for children and adults
As one of the classic folktales, this story is fascinating both for children and adult. Children will find the story amusing and easy to follow. The story is a good selection of the noodleheads.

Everything You Wanted to Know About the Battle of Britain
This is a very comprehensive review of the Battle of Britain, the campaign which saved Europe from an indefinite period of darkness, oppression, and inhumanity. Without the courage and resilience of the British people and the courage, competence, and sacrifice of the young pilots and crews of the RAF from whom so much was demanded Hitler's legions would have stood triumphant over a defeated Europe. The level of detail about the technological and tactical development of aerial combat and strategic bombing from WWI to WWII, including radar, propellers, engines, gasoline, machine guns, gunsights, will attract aviation 'wonks' and the address of the broader political imperatives which led to war will attract the historian and political scientist. Mr. Jacobs' unbelievable sketches throughout add very helpful imagery of the aircraft which fought the campaign. I was intrigued, too, by the description of the influence of American aviation developments in the building of the German and British airfleets. I wish, though, the authors had addressed in more detail the effect of the early British breaking of German communication codes. A good read!

Essential for all Political Science students
This is the bible, for lack of a better term, of political science.

I may be biased as several of the articles/definitions are contributions of my past professors, but the consistency of the writing doesn't hint that it is a compilation from many different experts.

In most cases, the contributing authors are the foremost authorities in their respective fields. That is apparent in the quality of this world-class publication.

Excellent book for rapid tooling
This book introduces the rapid tooling technology and its industrial applications. It is suitable for use as a reference text for a course in RP. Many case studies are also included to help the reader understand how RT is actually being used in the industry. This will help the reader make decision for his particular application.

Intro to science fiction
I advise every book I read and love to my sister who, in turn, advises it to her friends. Every person that has read this book, including my sister, her friends, and their friends, have all loved it. It's a nice introduction to science fiction and, in our times, the science of the book is closer to reality than you might think. This book is filled with nice ideas that can trigger the "inventor" or the "dreamer" in a person. This book was the first science fiction I read, and it attracted me immediately to the world of science fiction which I love up till today.
