the trouble in finding information about angela huth!
As I have tried all my best since my last review to find info about Angela Huth, her play, the performance of the play, articles written about all of this .... but in vain, I am desperately writing again because I really need data to write my dissertation . Until now the only thing I managed to find is a list of her books and their prices ! ...and nothing else ! I know that some critics have already written about her and her play and its performance and yet I cannot find them . I have written to the newspaper "the stage" hoping that they could send me a piece of their archives but I don't have any reply ! It ' s really a shame that when you enjoyed a book and show so much interest in it that you decide to spend a large part of your studies making thorough research and write your dissertation about it , all your pleasure is then spoilt because you finally discover that "internet " is not here to help you by giving you access to info all around the world . It is here to make you become one of the buyers of their products !

wonderful and so realistic!
I have chosen this play as the subject of my dissertation,I will translate it into French, and make a literary analysis of it.The problem is that I am looking for information about the play and the author and the time when she wrote it,but this is quite difficult, that's why I am sending you this message ,hoping that you will give me some help or some ideas about where I could find some help. Even some of your impressions when you read it would be helpful to me,what do you think of this way of analysing marriage?Do you know something about the time when Angela Huth wrote it -by the way, when did she write it?-,some events in the society of the time or even some events in her private life that could have influenced her in the writng of the play? Please help me !

A long-time marriage runs into a crisis...
First off, I admit I'm a fan of Angela Huth's books and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one. I wasn't dissappointed. This is a sometimes comic, sometimes poignant glimpse at the life of a couple, William and Grace, whose marriage has gotten a bit too routine. And then a lovely young musician enters the picture, a musician who happens to be joining William's music quartet, taking the place of a viola player who has resigned. William is entranced by her. Meanwhile Grace herself is not sitting alone, bereft and rejected. Although she's unaware of her husband's passions for another woman, Grace is also feeling drawn to another man. If you think this story is going to move along in predictable ways, think again - there's another horror around the corner, one this couple can't anticipate. I hope I've perked your interest in this book - I'd love to think another reader has discovered the joys of this author's writing.

Better than the Movie . . . Again
I saw Land Girls on video before I read the book, and once again, the book was better than the movie. I never understand why they need to change crucial parts of a perfectly good story, when it wouldn't have done the film any harm at all to tell it Angela Huth's way. That said, I loved the book, especially the ending; it was just as sad, but more fulfilling, than the end of the film.

INTERESTING!
It's a good read. Had never heard of the "land girls before, looked interesting, and it was!. Good characters, reminded me of some of my own girlfriends, the wild one, the shy one, the perfect one. Liked learning more about farm life in England at the time, sort of made me yearn for a good day of hard yet rewarding work. Also loved the older men in the story dealing with their lost youth, their dreams, their crushes on the young girls, it was sweet. And oh, that farm boy, busy lad I must say! All in all a good book, hope it makes a great movie.

Land Girls
In this 20th Century based novel, 'Land Girls' by Angela Huth, the author takes three girls through a life changing experience. Huth takes wealthy city girls Aga, Prue, and Stella to live on a farm. On this farm, these girls have to perform jobs that men would do if they were not at war. WWII is going on and it will take a while for these girls to get adjusted. 'This place was horribly old-fashioned, Gloomy, dingy.'(p.10) Everything was terribly different from home, but even though these girls came from different backgrounds, they help each other survive. They are bound to become friends for life. These young girls will encounter love, honor, friendship, and courage through the adventures in this novel.
Angela Huth wrote a great novel in which she is able to put war together with love and friendship. I think that it is a great talent to be able to put all these concepts together in one book. I also like the way the characters were chosen because they are very different, which means that the reader will have fun reading about the different issues these characters will encounter. The change in life styles for these girls is also a big deal that makes the story more interesting because we will see how the girls change from their peaceful lives at home to this farm. All the girls encounter love with a certain boy, which is also interesting because we see how love acts on different people. The best thing in this book is the way the author takes all these characters, which are strangers to each other and take them through many adventures that, will make them become friends for life.
This novel could be recommended to both men and women. To women because the novel is all about how women are able to do as much as men when it comes to hard work. With this novel, women will get the encouragement that we can do man jobs and that we are as good or even better than they are when it comes to inner strength. Because the women in this novel have plenty of inner strength for joining the Women's Land Army and working for men. Men should read this novel so they can learn to appreciate women. With this novel men will see that women are very hard working who will do many things for them. Men will realize that women are not useless and that they can carry on with or without men. I would not recommend this novel to younger, immature people because it contains some sexuality. 'Get your knickers off as fast as you can is my belief, before the poor buggers are shot down. Bit of quick fun, then off to the next one.'(p.180) Overall this novel is very interesting and adventurous; reading it was a very exciting experience.

Accept This Invitation!
Huth's very satisfying style of writing made this book hard to put down, once I got past the first few pages. I found myself hurrying to get through the day's chores so, like Rachel, I could escape to enjoy this private pleasure. It did take a bit of time to draw me in, but by all means, stick with it. The characters are richly drawn, the dialogue crisp and wry. All in all, a thoroughly good read.

Boring, slow-paced story did not hold my attention
I usually plow right through novels I enjoy and find interesting, but this book was dull to me. The story seems to crawl and is depressing, and the character of Annie is enraging at times. You find yourself wondering why Myrtle keeps putting up with Annie and her bratty, flirty, accusatory ways. The death of Archie is very sad and the turning point for the story, yet the plot remains snail-paced and sleepy. I don't recommend this book if you are looking for a pleasant, fast-paced, interesting

read.

A lovely visit to a Scottish fishing village
I read this book for a book club/discussion group and did not go into it with any expectations. Wives of the Fishermen turned out to be a charming glimpse into another place and community. Huth's characters were graciously developed and I felt as if I knew the characters personally.

Two women in a small fishing village share their friendship.
This is a very enjoyable book of the friendship and lives of two women in a small fishing village in Scotland. The book is so well written that you actually feel you are a part of village life. The book draws a moving portrait of the lives of fisherman and how it affects their families. Characters are well written especially the contrast between quiet, steady Myrtle and her flirty, best friend Annie. The book has many themes about friendship and love. I would highly recommend this book. This is the first book I read by this author, but hope to read her other books.
