Almost Unplayable But Good Reading
So, what happens when you play an Imbued that can't really come close to another Imbued, or a monster, without getting a debilitating headache due to sensory overload? You get a Hermit.

Hunter-Book: Hermit details the first of the two "lost" or "damaged" creeds, and it does explain a lot about these particular Hunters. Of course, there's a real challenge involved for both player and Storyteller with even considering using one of these, as playing one "correctly" would mean minimal contact with most of the rest of a game troupe. A truly experienced or mature player could no doubt pull it off, but this is merely a warning from me to you for those considering playing one of these. The experience will no doubt be worth it, and it can be fun, but also a real stretch in creativity as a roleplayer.

Still, this book offers good insight into a group of damaged people, and even offers what appeared to be (to me) a sneak preview of the upcoming Demon: The Fallen in a section describing one Hermit's encounter with women who were a little too perfect.

A new View for Hunter's
Hermit is a unique class of Hunter, very insightfull yet due to their "curse" they have trouble even being near other Hunters. I wouldn't reccomend as a player character, but for the storyteller, an excellent source for assisting their troupe.

No Mage ST should be without it
This book is fundamental in running a Mage chronicle. It gives plenty of background and setting information for those interested in that sort of thing. As any storytelling book, it gives tips and tried-and-true methods for storytelling. Additionally, there is a chapter dedicated to the explanation of philosophy, which is important because of Mage's philosophical nature. Also, the book further explains various systems like Paradox and Resonance and gives different options to change them to your liking. Moreover, the book gives an explanation of Seekings according to Essence types. All in all, the book is essential in fine-tuning and running any Mage chronicle.

Invaluable!
This is probably the most invaluable resource for any mage player or storyteller. It provides alternate rules for both magic and paradox and how to apply mage to alternate historical/fantasy settings. In terms of usability, it is indispensible and probably much better than the Guide to the Traditions.

Turkey huntin' from a truly addicted soul
Enjoyed this book immensely. Just good ol campfire tales of wild turkey huntin' with a little righteous opinions thrown in, most of which I agree wholeheartedly. He's one fine fellow in my book and could share my turkey woods anyday.

Comments from yet another Turkey Hunting Addict
This book is properly titled, so make no mistake about it, it is the tales of a dedicated turkey hunter. The intersting thing is Tim Herald tells you exactly how he feels about several different issues relating to the turkey hunting experience. If you are not a turkey hunter, this could very well be your best introduction to a sport that is rapidly growing as turkey become more prevalent.

I also feel that I now know the author better and would gladly share a turkey hunt with him anywhere. There is no doubt that he is dedicated to the sprot of turkey hunting and a man of high morals and sportsmanship. Thanks Tim for the fine reading.

Whether a beginner or seasoned pro, this book is a must read
If you're a master turkey hunter Tim will strike a cord that can only be felt from years of experience. If you were new to the sport you'd be doing yourself a favor to read it now. Because what Tim has been able to put into words sooner or later you'll experience it first hand in the turkey woods. When you read this book it's like sitting down and talking to an old friend, the pains, triumphs but most of all the memories. Great reading.

Nice try, Mr. Baum...
After five "Oz" books, L. Frank Baum had enough, and tried to close off the series with this sixth installment. Of course, the children wouldn't let him, and he went on to write eight more, but this effort to end the series was one of the best in some time.

The last two books ("Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz" and "The Road to Oz") suffered serious problems. They meandered, there was no sense of danger, nothing bad could ever happen to these characters. This time out Baum started with our heroine in a form of danger -- Aunt Em and Uncle Henry were going to lose the farm in Kansas -- and went on to reestablish the greatest threat the Oz books had left, Roquat the Red, the Nome King.

While this book again lacked a serious sense of danger, the devices Baum used in his effort to end the series were all clever, and furthermore, made for better stories when he returned to the series later. This is a lovely story, a real classic.

One of my favorite Oz books
This Oz book is one of the more disjointed ones, more a sort of package tour of Ozma's magic kingdom than a quest. But the vignettes are charming and stick with you. The "Rigamaroles" have become part of this family's culture, with my 12 yo son and I occasionally getting into rigamarole competitions, where we go on and on without saying anything. Bunbury and Bunnybury also stuck with me during the six years between reading this to my first son and my second; utensia is ... punny; and the cuttenclips, the fuddles, and the flutterbudgets are all cute and endearing. A great read aloud for the 5 to 10 set.

Onr thing, though: The famed metallic ink in the Books Of Wonder edition is just sort of glittery. Nice, but not really any big deal. I don't think that this is the best looking BoW Oz book.

A fun tour of Oz
Finally, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry get the chance to visit Oz, and Baum introduces them and us to a variety of unusual inhabitants. True, most of their journey through the countryside has little or nothing to do with the main plot, the attempt (again) by the Nome King to conquer Oz. But it's fun. And best of all, this book becomes a turning point for the series because in it Dorothy makes the decision to remain in Oz. While maybe not the best book in the series, The Emerald City of OZ is a lot of fun and well worth the read.

Also recommended: King Fortis the Brave, Harry Potter and Abarat. Books that, 100 years from now, people will be looking back with the fondness of the Oz series.

Apocrypha Now
Well, I enjoyed reading it... but the deliberate use of a raving psycho and his psuedo intellectual fan boy to deliver these revelations made it less valuable. An average Hunter would probably want to hunt this guy down not for supernatural reasons but because he is clearly mental and a danger to society. The psychotic ramblings aside the book laid out some interesting theories, and some connections to the Exalted Gameline world which are cool. All in all, it was no Book of Nod.

Hunter Apocrypha
For those of you who play any White Wolf role playing games this source book is a must. In it the writer reveals both where the Hunters gain thier powers and where the metaplot is going in all of the World of Darkness games.

I was impressed with both the symbols used to describe the hunters mission and the powers they are granted. The most revealing thing that this book gives us is what happens when the Hunters overstep thier bounds and revel in thier power.

"Computer definitions that get you marks"
This, folks, is the reference book for my A Level Students.

A Level is the main exam route taking in the UK for entry into Universities.

The continual rapid development of computer technology means it is a nightmare trying to keep up with terminology and acronymns. This glossary has the defintions the examiners will accept. Very useful when different text books all have their own definitons.

The 4star rating rather than 5 is a reflection of the date of issue of this glossary. There must be another one on its way soon, we sure need it.

A candidate for "New York Times" best seller list!
I love reading books about wildlife adventures, where man is forced to challenge nature's savage beasts. I am not a hunter or even a hunting enthusiast, so I was at first wary about reading this book on Jim Corbett. Well, I was hooked from the first page to the last. This story is in a word, "impressive." Werling is gifted at putting the reader in Corbett's shoes as he ventured off into India's wild to track maneating tigers and leopards. I felt Corbett's frustration as he pitted his expertise against these cunning adversaries. I felt the pain and hopelessness of native family members who had lost loved ones to maneaters. I experienced the elation and sense of achievement Corbett must have felt when he finally destroyed the beasts. I also enjoyed reading about Corbett's youth and events which led him to hunting fame. As an aside, the critical reviews written about this book are in my opinion unwarranted and inaccurate. My advice is to disregard the spiteful reviews and read the book. You'll be glad you did.

Excellent story!! Thrilling!!
I simply had to read this story after reading some of the diverse reviews. Apparently, the book has offended some readers due to its fictional content. I suppose if I were a true-blue Jim Corbett aficionado, I would have felt resentful also. However, having only a cursory knowledge of the great hunter/hero, I couldn't decifer fact from fiction as I read the story. Instead of concentrating on the story's accuracy, I read the story as I would have read any novel--just for entertainment. The story definitely delivers! It held my attention from cover to cover with dramatic and emotional scenes, and made me feel I was hunting these man-eating beasts alongside Corbett. It also contained an abundance of tidbits about hunting techniques and the habits/characteristics of the big cats (tigers and leopards); plus it has pages and pages of photos of Corbett, his family, the man-eaters, and places in India where he tracked these killers. I enjoyed it thoroughly! So, my advice to others who decide to read this book is to concentrate on its content, not its accuracy. You won't be disappointed.

BRAVO!! Finally, a biography packed with excitement!
I have read everything written by Jim Corbett, as well as other biographies written about him. The other bios were well-documented with fact, but failed to hold my interest because of their documentary-style format. This author took a chance with this creative approach to Corbett's life and adventures, and it was worth the effort. Let's face it, the world doesn't need another factual biography of Jim Corbett. Everything there is to know about the man has already been published in three other books. This author has boldly mixed fact with fiction, resulting in a thrilling story that left me spellbound and wanting more. If you believe what the critics are saying about this book, you'll miss a gem of a story!
