A Bold, Honest and Courageous Insight!!!
Dr. Gladys Hankins has done an excellent job at highlighting many of the subtle forms of racial prejudice and discrimination in corporate America. Her insight is rather compelling with documented real-life interviews and workshops with working adults of different races and gender, as well as individuals working in different capacities and corporate levels. She presents very balanced and fair perspectives of individuals of different racial backgrounds and gender. She has excellently highlighted rather destructive but subtle forms of racial prejudice and discrimination that are designed consciously or unconsciously to stifle or frustrate many talented and hardworking individuals in corporate America. She has presented these issues in a constructive and non-judgmental manner. No well-meaning company executive and leader would read this book without being propelled to "question" their own stand on fostering true diversity which must include fairness and equity in giving all deserving individuals (regardless of race and gender) equal opportunities for career development and vertical promotion. After reading this book, any well-meaning company executive and leader would be propelled to playing an imaginary role of switching places with a very qualified and hardworking woman or minority man. Such a person must then ask how they would feel if a glass or concrete ceiling were placed on them regardless of their output, productivity, talents, abilities and skills. In this book, Dr. Hankins does a terrific job of bringing out your humanity and reminding you that empowering others equates to empowering yourself, your company, your community and the country as a whole.

Dr. Hankins very nicely addresses the White Male fears of seeing any kind of advancement of women or minority men. She brings to light that the feelings and fears of the White Male must be adequately addressed before real progress in corporate diversity issues can be measured. Finally, she offers empowering statements to women and minority men reminding them that to value self from within still surpasses external value by others.

This book pierced through the very heart of many subtle forms of racial prejudice and discrimination in the workplace bringing to light the "Diversity Blues". Blues that continue to limit great minds and potentials, and essentially causing many companies to operate at 50% of their human potential. This book is a "must read" for every company executive and leader because it holds many empowering tools that can help any company maximize the potentials of their intelligent, hardworking, well-meaning and well-deserving employees of the human race. Five stars to "Diversity Blues" and congratulations to Dr. Hankins for a brilliant job!!!

Diversity Blues..a commitment to shake 'em
At this crucial point in the history of the world's major organizations, when far too many are struggling for economic survival, Dr. Hankins makes it painfully clear that Diversity is often misunderstood, undervalued, and benignly, if not overtly, neglected. She goes on to make a compelling case for proactively managing diversity; not the least of her arguments is that an ongoing process for managing divesity must be built into every facet of an organization's business. Her prescription for a healthy organization is to implement ongoing diversity that affects a real change in attitudes so that its members acknowledge and respect human and cultural differences. She makes good common sense! A healthy organization is empowered and enabled to deliver critical results that assure business success and profitabilty. Finally! A book on diversity for the boardroom and the lunch bunch!

While accomplishing a clear and valid intellectual case for "principle-based diversity in today's workplace, Dr. Hankins conveys a deep understanding of the negative human emotions that foster racism and sexism. She challenged me to introspection and reflection by presenting more than statistics and scientific data alone. Personal and group interviews, along with her own personal experience and observation uncover the raw, destructive nature of racism and sexism.

Then, with style and savvy, Dr. Hankins shares a vision for a prejudice-free, discrimination free-organization and addresses key roles all of us must play to create it. Unlike any other dissertation I've read on diversity, "Diversity Blues" has inspired me to reaffirm my commitment to be part of the solution of living a principle-based diversity.

From A Very Satisfied Reader!
This is a story all young men and women should read...it is truly the story of "the American Dream" come to life...it demonstrates what tenacity and chutzpah can accomplish in the very competetive fashion world.
I'm fortunate enough to own several of Mr. Hankins' designs, and knowing the story behind the clothing is wonderful.
I was very pleased with this book.

An amazing story of success
This book is outstanding! I reccomend this book to anyone who can get their hands on it. It is a true story of hard work, determination, strongness, and much more. This book is written in such a way that you feel as if you know Anthony Mark Hankins personally. I loved it!

Speak for Yourself Kirkus!
In response to Kirkus Reviews, why wouldn't consumers want to know about a designer of such determination and talent? It's like your saying because AMH is young and not yet as common a household name as Calvin Klein that his life and accomplishments don't deserve recognition. His story has given many aspiring designers, myself included the confidence to reach for their dreams.

Writers Digest "Certificate of Merit" award
The following is taken from material accompanying the recently completed Writers Digest Magazines 2000 Self Published Award Books program which was forwarded to the author: "The book really starts with a big event. Wow, that's definitely the way to grab a reader and pull them in. I was hooked after the first scenes in the book, and stayed up late to finish the book. You have a good sense of pacing in your work. You let the suspense build, and then let it down a bit, and then build it up some more. That's what is needed when writing this type of book - that I considered a cross between sci-fi and fantasy. You want somethat the reader just can't put down. I think one of the most difficult things to do in certain fantasy works is to create a different world that the characters share. With other genres, the known world is a given, and doesn't need much explanation. But an alien world -- especially one under the sea -- must have rules and landscape and a million details that need to be worked into the text without bringing the action to a halt. I think you did a good job of that. Using the main character as someone who is not of that world helps to show events and the strange places through his eyes. I liked the way you managed to bring in some political aspects by the mention of the environment, etc. You made some good points without being too preachy."

Operative Obstetrics Treasure
This book is simply fantastic. For the practicing obstetrician, it encompasses almost all the issues dealing with the specialty, concerning operative techniques. For the student, there is a lot of new approaches to subjects that other books do not show. For example, there's an entire chapter on symphysiotomy, another on external cephalic version, both subjects very rarely seen in such depth in common textbooks. There's also a very good chapter on surgical basics, dealing with needles, sutures and knots. In short, i recommend this book for those who truly love Obstetrics' practice.

Dr. Hankins is a very intelligent man.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hankins in person and want to express my sincere thoughts. Dr. Hankins is a gifted surgeon and very intelligent man.He has compassion, as well as talent.I recommend his professional expertise. Cheryle Anderson

CD ROM
I am looking for a cd rom of thisbook, may be you can tell me if this cd exists? if yes how can I get it?
best regards Dr` Roman Korobochka MD

obstetrics,high-risk,maternal-fetal medicine
As a woman who has had a history of difficult pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my losses but also in my uncomplicated pregnancies. OBGYNs don't need to be told about this book; they swear by it. I think their patients should too.

This book is much more than an art book! It is fabulous!
This is a book you will read over and over again. It can be read in less than 5 minutes...it always brings me joy! The messages in the book are simple, and very inspiring. The artwork beautiful. This book makes a great gift...its incredibly versatile. You could give it to a child, an entreprenuer, an artist or someone who needs a little encouragement. I met James Hankins at a book fair just after he published the book...I think I purchased 5 or 6 copies and will probably buy another dozen. One final thought...I have been so intrigued with how BIG a message James communicates in so few words that I am thinking of immulating this concept in a future business book...it is brillant, powerful, and oh so satisfying. I encourage you to order a copy today!

The Best of Its Kind !
The book was given to me as a gift, and has become a treasured "refresher course" on the topic. Anyone who has to deal with someone else in a business (or other) context can benefit from the author's insights.

We've all heard that the Golden Rule is a great basis for human relationships, however, what or how to "do unto others. . ." sometimes is not so clear in a business setting. Roy Lantz does a very good job of putting the general concept of the Golden Rule into actual, "hands-on" kinds of rules, actions, and attitudes. The writing is clear, simple, concise, humorous, and interesting to read. The author's light, informal style may appear at first blush to oversimplify or trivialize his topic, but a few minutes with the book will reveal a great depth and understanding of the material. I have lent the book to several associates, and would recommend it to any employer who wants to improve relationships with his/her customers.

Writers Digest Certificate of Merit for Martha's Will
Excerpts from WD: This books is a return to the rollicking, picaresque tales written by Robert Lewis Taylor (The Travels of Jamie McPheeters) and William Faulkner (The Reivers). The characters are memorable - quirky without being contrived - and the author has a golden ear for dialogue. Additional comment by WD: This the kind of book that will thrive on word of mouth . . .

A sensitive and intelligent look at the paintings of Leake
Craig Hanken has given us a magnificent book on landscape painting written as a reflection of how paintings and a body of work develop over time. As a former student of the artist, I am continually taken with Leake's ability to use a narrow palette of color, and sometimes the same landscape over and over, to express an amazing range and depth of feeling about the landscape. This book is a joy to read and to use as a resource - Leake explains his use of color and choice of locations in terms that the general specator can appreciate and the student can try an emulate. The numerous images are well chosen and well reproduced. A classic.
