Easy and practical...a beginner's bible.
This book is excellent to use year round. The recipes are easy to prepare and the directions are clear. The ingredients are those you usually have around the kitchen or found readily at the super market. It also tells you how to get the best from your Weber grill, be it either the charcoal or gas variety, as well as menu suggestions. I thought I lost my copy and went to order another one in panic. Now that I found my original copy, I plan on trying to find another one for my daughter. An excellent resource!

A classic!
This is a great book! As a 5th-grade teacher, I am always on the outlook for new fiction, and this story delivers the goods! Toots, trapped between personal grief and moral obligation, is forced to make decisions which affect not only her future, but those around her. In the process, she learns valuable lessons about life and love. I highly recommend this book for children of all ages.

Excellent introduction to poetry of Hughes
This book features poetry of Hughes for children. The poetry carefully uses language geared for children, uses repetition more than images. This results in text that conveys to children as much the careful, artful use of language as "fine poetry". The illustrations by Bryan are a superb counterpoint to the text - again geared intentional towards children - but showing excellent use of color and a realism appealing to adults.

This book succeeds in being truly for children without being sacchrine or insulting. Don't think of this as an "ethnic" book, it is far too good to be marginalized.

Poetically and spiritually moving;a must for any library
This book not only captures the beauty of Langston Hughes for young readers but also portrays the beauty of African Heritage within the powerful meaning of the story of Christ's birth. I ended up buying two copies on my first round because it was such a wonderful piece of work for both chidren and adults!

Jack Black and the Ship of Thieves
A very exciting, fast moving book with an interesting twist at the end. It is well written and you can't put it down. I read it for about five hours without stopping. I am eleven years old and I love this book!

Audio Cassette Version Is Weak
I listed to this book on audio cassette. The best thing I can say is that I finally finished it. Carol Higgins Clark should not read her own books. In portraying several characters, her shrill voice got on my nerves. Next time, get a professional actress to read.

A by-the-pool light reader
Carol Higgins Clark's latest book, Twanged, is a light hearted, easy read, but without much depth. All of Carol's books star Regan Reilly whose life never changes...overworked and in need of a vacation (and a companion!). The main question of this book, what do the initials CT stand for, was never answered. So much emphasis was placed upon the "stalker" however, the ending was wrapped up so quickly that he was basically shuffled away. It was almost as if Ms. Higgins Clark was leaving for a vacation and needed to complete her book...the story ended quite rapidly and without much surprise or excitement.

Clark a fun author
Most of you people didn't even get it! Carol is not trying to be like her mother and shouldn't and doesn't deserve to be compared to her mother. They write totally different. Carol is an entertaining author with a good grasp on mixing humor and mystery. Not all mystery has to be deep, dark and foreboding and Carol is not trying to be. She writes well and Twanged is a great new edition to her Regan Reilly series. I caught myself snickering a lot. It is a thoroughly enjoyable good read and a welcome change from more serious fare and those who think it was bad or juvenile just don't know how to enjoy a funny book. Go back to reading something dark and gory and let the rest of us have fun.
