Fantastic journey through the world of charts and graphs!
I read this book, cover to cover, after flipping through looking at the pictures. What a great read! I will never look at a chart again, without a newfound (and critical ) eye towards the graphical representation of the information. I am also glad to see the author writing for the on-line e-zine IntellectualCapital -

Unseen
I heard Howard Wainer speak at a conference last week, and I am ordering his book sight unseen. His intellect, wit, and humor in front of the group was amazing. If the book captures half of that, it will be a treat.

A study guide for all!
Being a History major at Ursinus College where author S. Ross Doughty is a professor, I can assure any prospective buyer that this study guide is a comprehensive guide to the Spodek edition of The World's History. With this study guide, Doughty is assured to be an instructor to more students than just the ones he enlightens in his History classes. If you have Spodek, you need Doughty!

A Unique view of World History.
Spodek's World History is one of the first comprehensive world history texts composed by a single author in a non-european centric perspective. I highly reccomend this text book.

One of those rare books that changes your worldview...
I had the honor of studying with Professor Ross. There are few better in the country. That being said, you still have a chance to be exposed to this man's genius. While you won't have the chance to discuss baseball or sitcoms with him, you can get something more valuable, his academic insights.

This is one of the few college texts that sits on my shelf today. This book, battered, highlighted, and often consulted, changed my worldview.

I can't tell you how many times this book has helped me in day to day life, to diffuse potential conflict. Of course, it's intentions and purpose are much larger than everyday life, but that is where the lessons linger for me.

The book covers the literature of conflict management studies quite well and the case studies that go with it. It is insightful and potentially outlook altering. You'll quote it in more papers than you can even imagine. Even if you aren't a student, this is a worthy read.

Excellent work on Asian leaders in this century.
The authors take ten Asian leaders from five countries (China, Indonesia, India, Cambodia and Vietnam)and studies their lives and their leadership qualities. After a wonderful introduction of each country the authors attempt to answer such questions as: What motivates people? Is their an "Asian" way to lead? What makes a leader good or bad? Often in each country they take leaders of opposite viewpoints such as Diem and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. Diem was the Anti-Communist leader of South Vietnam and Minh was the communist leader of North Vietnam. The book also looks into why people follow certain brutal leaders such as Mao and Pol Pot. It looks at the establishing of personality cults and how the leader used that to his advantage.

There isn't a better GroupWise book
This is by far the most comprehensive GroupWise book. I have not seen more complete descriptions of GroupWise processes anywhere. The chapter on user moves is excellent. A MUST HAVE for any GroupWise administrator.

The Best GroupWise Book Anywhere
Administering GroupWise 5.5 is by far, the best GroupWise book I've ever read. It is honest, and very detailed no just how it works, but how it REALLY works, and how to troubleshoot.

Only regret is that it didn't come out when I started administering GroupWise systems. EXCELLENT

Administering Groupwise 5.5 by Howard Tayler
In reading and putting Howard Tayler?s book to use, I have found it to be one of the best computer books I have ever read. It covers concise information on how to administer GroupWise. Plus it covers the difficult issues and hard to solve problems. The chapter on delicate operations is a must for any GroupWise administrator. I have heard Howard Tayler speak several times. He has a way of taking any technical information and put it in a way that any audience can clearly understand it. His book is written with the same zest. His writing style is impeccably clear to understand. The solutions and answers are right on for troubleshooting. I know in his past he was apart of Novell's GroupWise Swat team. He has seen it all, and his book clearly put this into print.

Very broad in horizon, but lacks the depth
I used this book as a text for a graduate level "Fixed Income Analysis" course. This book covers almost all the fixed income financial instruments from plain vanilla bonds to interest rate derivatives. However, reading this book leaves the reader with a desire for more than just the peripheral knowledge, which is all this book offers.

Theoretically, this book justfies its being called a handbook, but on the mathematical front, it stands absolutely nowhere. There are little or no examples used in the text even though the author touches base on the advanced topics sometimes. Any fixed income practioner, including me, will tell you that ONE JUST CANNOT LEARN FIXED INCOME CONCEPTS WITHOUT GRASPING THE MATH BEHIND THEM, and this book scores poorly in the quantitative analysis. Fixed income securities are extremely sensitive to interest rate fluctuations, and hence, it would be only sensible to present atleast a few chapters trying to explore the concepts used in the modeling of interest rates. But this book doesn't do that. There is little quantitative discussion about duration and convexity, two of the most important risk-measurement tools for bonds.

Since it is called a handbook, I don't see any reason why the author should hold back advanced concepts from the readers. Conversely, since this book doesn't attempt to teach all the concepts to its readers, it should not be called a handbook. This problem is actually common to all the Fabozzi books. Either his math is weak, or he is just busy making money writing a handbook on every possible fixed income security. It's only a shame that a capable and learned individual like him should do such a sloppy job.

I would recommend books by Bruce Tuckman, Garbade, or Horne for more advanced and intelligent discussions on fixed income securities and interest rates rather than this book. One really need not waste money on this book. Theory on Fixed Income instruments is widely available from Federal Reserve publications, which are almost always free. Put your money only where it will produce fixed & positive returns - Fixed Income 101.

Comprehensive, Detailed & Thorough
This book contains everything a beginner could care to know and everything a professional needs to know. This book is a study in fixed income securities from the basic to the complex and should be a source of information and reference for anyone studying or practicing.

Fixed income from A to Z!
This book has everything that you would ever want to know about fixed income securities (AND MORE). I used it in graduate school and it sits on my desk ready for action. It doesn't have any dust on it, because I still use it. This book is not for the newcomer, but I don't think that was the point.

The one-true Spider-Man Revealed
Howard Mackie, Tom DeFalco, Todd Dezago and JM DeMatteis finally bring the clone saga to a close with "Revelations". Heartbreak, action, adventure, and the return of a Spider-foe long thought dead all leads to an explosive climax, and when the smoke clears. Only one Spider-Man will walk away from it alive. Read and find out who it is.

This book was fantastic.
This book was wonderful to read. It finally ends the long and drug on clone saga between Ben Reilly and Peter Parker and once and for all the real Spider-man is decided. It's build up is amazing.

A book excellentlly written depecting spiderman at his best
This book was a great tale of action and writing. The book is a must read which features four more great charachters added to the marvel lineup. It has action and humor in this awesome graphic novel showing the webslinger at his best . Excellently written and drawn no wonder it is a favorite of many fans of marvel.

Very well written
Actually, This was a brilliant way to add life to the series. Before Identnty Crisis, the Sipder-Man books were going downhill, and fast. This book shows Marvel's ability to give a title a quick boost (Identity Crisis sold very well on the shelves) And then return to a normal storyline afterwards, regaining their reading audience. And the Slingers weren't totally random either, each of the four represented a specific portion of Parker's personality, or Spider Man's powers. An excellent collection.

Some of the best reading of the year
Many are right when they say that Marvel has gone down as of recently, but this superbly written and illustrated book shows what Marvel can really do. Some of Spider-Man's best writers and artists got together on this book and forever made an imprint in the Marvel universe.
