Answer to my prayers.
"Chicken soup for the Prioner's Soul" was the answer to my prayers. After reading your book, I joined Toastmasters to develop my skills as a speaker. Your book opened my eyes and heart to my desire to be a professional speaker. It has also opened a lot of doors for me. It is so amazing that being in jail, I was led to your book, which has led to so many wonderful and helpful people. If everyone could accept people as unconditionally as you and the people in your book have accepted me, our world would be a much better place.

Words from the heart of a prison community.
"Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" has been a favorite of participants in the Kairos HORIZON, faith-based residential program at Tomoka Correctional Institution near Daytona Beach, Florida. "It makes you think," one of the inmates in this maximum security prison responded, "and we need that." A local ministry provided copies for each of the 128 men in the faith dorm at Christmas last year.
As the program coordinator, I've noticed that the stories never fail to touch our volunteers, too, whether they are written by an inmate, an inmate's family, a volunteer, warden or correctional officer. By the end of the book, the whole experience of incarceration can be seen from a new and fuller perspective, one that offers hope.

Soul Growth in Us All
As an educator in a state correctional facility, I am always looking for reading material that can interest and inspire. As a human being struggling with the difficulties of my own little life, working with human being beings who for many reasons are going through the very difficult life experience of incarceration has assisted me in my own soul growth and the awareness of the one soul by which we are all connected.
Reading "Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul" before I read it in class with my adult incarcerated students aided that development. I bought copies of the book for my students to read in class. Each student practiced his story. Then read it to the class. We have had many soul-stirring discussions.
I have never been the victim of a violent crime. I feel very much for victims and their families. The sections of the book that moved me to reflect on forgiveness were the ones telling about the forgiveness of the victim's family member for the perpetrator. I have trouble forgiving small slights. To read about the forgiveness of a violent crime that led to a taken life...well, I am still working on that. We live. We think. We change. This book encourages new thoughts to enter my mind and new changes in awareness of the soul.

Chicken soup for the kids soul
There are just about 100 stories of fun, sadness, family, love, hope, and courage. I stayed up way too late reading and it's just a book you can't put down. My fav one was on friendship. just because you're ugly or disabled doesn't mean you're not loved. and the ones who stick up for you are the real ones. you really have to think. It's not the movies or a game, It's real life.

Good book O:-)
I liked this book very much because some day, I'll know I'll be in that situation or need to help a friend or family or stranger through it. This book teaches me that it's my own life and no-one can boss. And to listen to your parents and GOD

Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul
I reccomend the book, Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul by Jack Canfield(ed.) It is a good book with 101 stories of Courage, Hope, and Laughter. I thought it was a fun and exciting book to read. One of the good things about this book is that you can read a few stories, stop, skip around, and read somemore. I think that any kid that likes to read a good, fun book would enjoy this very much.

Starfield:A Message of Hope For The New Millennium
STARFIELD

A Message of Hope For The New Millennium

Starfield by Jack Willis is a fascinating book that is...definitely different. It's a 340-page blend of fantasy, science fiction, fact, prophecy and conspiracy.

Basically the book is comprised of two parts. The first 209 pages form an interesting novel that uses the Rapture of Christianity as it's underlying framework. Now, just because the Rapture concept is at it's core, don't get the idea that it's a dull or boring story. It's not. Jack Willis has crafted a tale that draws you in, causes you to care about the main characters and makes you reluctant to put it down.

The second part of the book starts with a 72-page epilogue that includes notes on each of the novel's chapters. This gives you a good idea of how each chapter was approached and which prophecies and/or world events inspired it.

Four appendices provide a thorough explanation of the fictitious Photon Belt, a list of Internet URLs for the curious among you and two statements by William J. Murray and Charleton Heston. There's also three pages of references and a full index.

Price is compatible with similar-sized semi-stiff cover books. I would, however, suggest that you buy a copy. Borrow one and you may not want to return it!

Excellent book with a different message and twist
STARFIELD is a book that inspires, entertains, and stimulates all at once. I liked its message and found its lack of violence and sex refreshing. It's a book for the whole family to enjoy, perhaps read together. A must in any library for those seeking something a bit different

Even better than the "Left Behind" series.
Difficult to put down, and impossible to forget. Starfield is a blend of fact, fiction, history and a morality lesson as well as a glimpse into the future. It certainly is timely, and everyone today could benefit by reading it. It's easier reading than the book of Revelations, but tends to make one want to read that book.

Cancer patients don't just need the medical facts
Cancer patients also need to feel happier (don't we all?) This title
will help. Great book!!!

What a book!
"Cancer Has Its Privileges" is one of the funniest and most inspiring books ever written about a disease half of us will end up with --- and one quarter of us will end up dying from. Christine Clifford's keen wit and unique insights --- and, most of all, her humorous personal experiences --- helps to turn a tough pill to swallow into a spoonful of sugar. Christine is America's version of a modern day Mary Poppins....they even look alike! You'll be glad Christine landed on your front doorstep and popped into your life, especially if you or someone you love is battling cancer. If that's the case, then reading Christine's book is not only just the right medicine, it's a real privilege, too!

An EXCELLENT guide to understanding Spirit-Led Shepherding.
In "Pastors of Promise," Jack Hayford, Senior Pastor of The Church On The Way (located in Van Nuys, California) calls fellow pastors in ministry to a deeper, more passionate fellowship with Christ. He challenges them to focus on worship and pastoral humanity before methods. With his insightful and compassionate mentoring, Pastor Jack helps the reader understand what it takes to cultivate God's promise of fruitfulness in one's life as a shepherd. This book offers passion, compassion and promise for the pastors and challenges the readers to reflect on the 'big picture' - from God's perspective. . The common thread that runs through this book is: "Worship through Servant-Hood."

The Church has a place of spiritual mission to preach and reach the world with the Gospel and lay loving hands on the sick to heal and deliver the oppressed. The ministry of the Church is to extend through every member of the Body of Christ, facilitated by worship and pastoral leadership. However, this vision and the mission of the church can only come after the discipline of personal devotion. Pastor Jack points out that worship and servant-hood are to be pastoral priorities. It is the fountainhead of everything the Church will ever have - God's presence, His power, the guidance of the Word and the Holy Spirit, the healing of souls, bodies, families, and the evangelism of the lost.

This book has been a timely word. One of the more refreshing attributes found in this book is the fact that Pastor Jack always avoids disputes on matters where Christians disagree, and defends those beliefs which Christians hold in common. His work has transcended denominational lines. My personal ministry has been greatly impacted by this book. This book is a very enlightening and refreshing work of the Holy Spirit through Pastor Jack Hayford.

Encouragement and exhortation for all in ministry!
Do you ever feel like your ministry is going no where ? Have you ever wrestled with thoughts of giving up ? Pastor Jack shares very candidly from his first call over 25 years ago, from wondering where he was going, to why was he there; if you have ever struggled with God's call on your life then pick up this book! Paul told Timothy to "fan into flame the gift of God in you"; now, Pastor Jack tells us how to do that! Pastor Jack has been blessed with an awesome gift of expression via the pen, and this is the *best* If you or someone you know is in a church leadership position, get this book into their hands! In a word, awesome!

Mental Math Practice
I have used Mental Math in the Middle Grades with my 4th and 5th grade students for the last 5 years. The exercises really help them with being able to compute numbers in their heads. They also are more well prepared for the Michigan Educational Assessment Tests. I would like to encourage the 2nd and 3rd grade teachers in my school to use the Mental Math for Primary Grades

Promotes Real Understanding of Arithmetic
This is an excellent collection of daily lessons that provide instruction and drill and practice of mental arithmetic. If your student can add and subtract but needs to jump to the next level of automaticity and mastery, this book is for you. Each lesson took my second grade son and I about 30 minutes to complete. Then he took around another 30 minutes to complete the drill and practice problems on his own. There are 36 lessons total. The practice sheets can be copied and recopied for more practice when needed. This resource is appropriate for teachers with large groups of children, teachers with small groups of children, parents wishing to provide extra drill in the evenings, private tutors, and homeschoolers. The lessons are scripted and tell the instructor exactly what to say during the instruction and answers to all problems are provided immediately. I am looking forward to acquiring the sequels to this text.

This is a great book!
my mom bought me this a few christmas's ago. I wasnt really a diary type person so I figured I wouldnt like it. But one day when I was bored, I opened it up and looked and realized what I had been missing. this is definitly a great book for teenagers. Its not just a blank journal, it gives you lots of interesting ideas to write about and asks questions that make you think. I love writing in it if I'm bored. And it's big so it wont get used up fast. Also, even though there are sections, you dont have to do each one in order, you can just skip around if you want. the sections are similar to the ones in the chicken soup for the teenage soul books. and for some of the questions, they give alot of space to just write whatever you want. I especially liked the section where your friends, boyfriend, etc. could write to you and the part where you can put your pictures. I highly recommend this journal! its great! I hope they come out with a second one

This Chicken Soup Book Warmed my Soul!
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: Journal, was one of the most moving books I have read. It's directed towards adolescents, and deals with issues every adolescent girl faces. It's a blend of stories, quotes, poems, and spaces to write your thoughts. This book has many different sections such as: family, love and kindness, learning lessons, and though stuff. My favorite section, however, is "loving yourself". This book gave me a chance to deal with issues and see that I'm not the only girl whom faces such issues. Chicken Soup is a book that I am able to pick up at any time if I need some inspiration on a situation, or some reassurance. Other issues helpful to me were on drinking, self-esteem, eating disorders, and how to deal with my past. The best part about this book is that a lot of it is compiled with texts written by teenage authors. There are spaces for friends to write about you, and spaces for you to express how you feel about certain things. Chicken Soup allowed me to realize I was not the only girl who had experienced some of the feelings that I did. After reading this book I knew I wasn't alone! I do highly reccomend this book to any teenage girl. Adolescence is a hard time to get through, and many girls need inspiration. You do not have to read the book cover to cover; you can pick it up any time and read whatever section you desire.

Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul
Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul is a fantastic, well-written book. This book includes many stories about kids going through life. The stories are about love, sorrow, family, achieving dreams and many more. The stories will make kids think of times they went through. It's an inspiring book that will make kids believe in themselves. I would give this book five stars.

One of the most amazing books written of all time for kids!
Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul, I believe, was one of the most amazing books written of all time for kids. It shares the experiences others have endured and overcome, loyal friendships that have been lived, and many other heartwarming stories. I was introduced to this book by a great teacher of mine, who lent it to me for a week, and that was when I fell in love with it!

It showed me words of wisdom: to strengthen my self-confidence, self-belief, how to dream my dreams of life and how to live a greater life.

The Chicken Soup Series is absolutely amazing, and as I am moving onto my teenage years, I cannot wait to get my hands on the Teenage Soul Series!

I recommend this book to each and every reader of the world, because this is the definite Chicken Soup to heal to anyone and everyone's soul for life!

A Real Heartwarmer
If your heartstrings don't stretch a bit in response to some story in Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul, you need to check your pulse. Then you need to go plant something...

...it took gardening to bring me home.
Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul is a collection of 101 short stories and vignettes. Each piece is about three pages long, a format that is convenient for those of us who's free-time comes in little snippets. The stories share a common theme: Despair + a Garden + God's Grace = Wisdom and Peace.

Chicken Soup books seem to really polarize readers. A reader either really likes them and buy copies for all their friends, or dislikes them and would not buy one on a bet.

Let me assure the first type of reader that Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul is just as good the other Chicken Soup books. One of my concerns was that the quality of the writing would be inferior to the earlier books, that all the good material had already been skimmed. That concern was baseless. Evil is newsworthy because it is rare. Dignity, humanity, honesty and sacrifice ARE the human condition. There is no shortage of inspirational stories, just a shortage of publishers who think they are worthy of the readers' attention. Chicken Soup is still skimming the cream.

Book reviews are supposed to help the reader decide "Do I buy this book?" That is not much of an issue with this book. Chicken Soup addicts will buy this book. The question on the table is: "Do I buy this book for the cynical friend who thinks they are 'sappy', or 'maudlin'?" I think the answer is a qualified "Yes."

These stories do not strike a quick resonance with cynics. It is not because cynics have never felt despair. Rather, it is because cynics are afraid of the pain of revisiting those times. Cynics need to ease into these stories the way you might ease into a hot-tub. So buy them a copy and highlight a few stories like:

*A Veteran's Garden, page 25 "The Marines sent me overseas. But it took gardening to bring me home."

*Girls like Roses, page 109, "...twenty-four bucks! That's a lot of money. Even for a girl named Michelle."

*Brian, page 192, "Brian is seven. He's a dreamer and drives his teacher crazy. She is as stiff as taffy in December."

Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul
A MUST read for gardeners and non-gardeners alike! This has been my absolute favorite of all the Chicken Soup books so far. I think it will outsell all of the other books because gardeners and Chicken Soup fans tend to be of like spirit. Every story made me cry but yet left me feeling good, in true Chicken Soup style!!! Erma Bombeck and Nelson Mandela were a real treat.
