This book is the consumate soup of all of the most important things you need to know before you go into ground school at a regional or major airline.

It was written by airline pilots who still remember how overwhelmed they were when they sat through their first aircraft systems ground school at their respective airlines.

I consider it mandatory reading before you consider setting foot in a flight simulator or airline ground school.

I am currently transitioning from my previous career as an Army aviator flying helicopters to a career with the airlines. This book is a terrific aid in understanding the differences and realities of high speed and highly technical flight.

The systems and advanced avionics sections are phenomenal! They are generalized in order to apply to as many aircraft as possible, but really explain well how they operate and how you will interact with them.

My favorite part about the book is that the authors write it in an easy to understand manner. They do not write in an overly complicated technical manner, but rather at a level that a new or transitioning professional pilot can understand. They don't baby talk to you either. It's just right.

This manual gives me a general idea on how an aircraft turbine engine operates. This book is for any teens who want to be a turbine engineer. There are no complex technical drawings or discussions in this book, therefore it's a nice book for begineers.

This second book is small but interesting like the first.

My two children song the chorus of " Sweet and sour berries"
again and again. My younger rename this storie because he was
so impressed by one of the characters. He said always this is
the black's man story.

I very found of "The man who bought a dream". It's sound interesting and it is.

Another storie with a strange title is "Deer and jaguar share a house". After i told this storie, one children was the deer
and the other the jaguar.

The "Little frog and centipede" is very good for the younger.

The others stories are like these.

I loved the original (Ready-to-Tell Tales) that was published several years ago. Friends who are school librarians or storytellers have also recommended it without reservation. This new book is even better. It has more stories and costs less, always a good equation, and this one has new indexes that list the stories by culture of origin and by audience target age level. Parents, teachers, librarians, and storytellers of all descriptions will love this. Great for high school speech competitions, too!

Let me just tell you this book kept 8th graders loving literature like no other literature could. There is violence, love, jealousy, family, struggle... in practically every story. Lots of great nonfiction, too. A wonderful wonderful item for read aloud even.

Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology is a four-volume set covering virtually every known species of bacterium; articles on each species and extensive articles on higher taxa describe a great deal of value to the undergraduate microbiology student or teacher, often including hard to find information about culture methods and ecological roles. The high cost and heavy format of the four large hardbound volumes make them unsuitable for use in the laboratory, however. Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology is a lower-cost, paperback companion volume containing very brief genus descriptions but extensive tables of biochemical and growth charateristics necessary for the laboratory identification of bacteria. Student labs should include these paperback volumes near every workstation; once students have identified their bacteria, a trip to a departmental library or reading room to learn more about the organism from the four-volume set is in order. Together, these volumes are indispensible for any well-equipped microbiology program.

I bought this book to help me prepare for the GRE History Exam that I will take in only a few days. I've had a chance to use this book for CLEP exams and for the classes I've been taking in college. It breaks down all important parts of History and has helped me earn 12 credits through testing in only 3 months, and the GRE I can say I'm pretty prepared for it thanks to this book. I would recommend this one for anyone interested in History or those who are getting either a major or concentration in History. Cheap college credits.

I have long been enamoured of the story of Queen Victoria, but this is one thing I had not known about until I began really reading about her! Plaidy writes a wonderfully flowing novel about the charming young Victoria - newly ascended to the throne of England - and her Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne. As if she doesn't have enough to deal with, the young Queen finds herself falling in love with her advisor, and the feelings are likely reciprocal. Once again, Plaidy does a marvellous job of bringing one of the lesser-investigated (or perhaps more covered-up!) stories of a past monarch. The book is a fast, engaging read, and not at all dry or filled with too many tedious, unneccessary facts about the story (as too many historical novels are!). For anyone wishing to know a little bit more about Queen Victoria or the history of England's monarchs -- this is a book (and author) I highly recommend.

As a horse lover, I read this book long ago and am re-reading it again now. This is a gem of a book, well told and illustrated by the adventurer himself. Holt, aged 67, befriended this extraordinary ex-cart horse, and together they rode and camped across Europe and back to England. He tells of their many challenging adventures and of their inspiring devotion to each other.
I can only fantasize doing what he did, knowing how much more mechanized our world is today than in the 60's. Holt simply saddled up his horse with a few provisions and a sketch book and started out alone. In our hitech life, this is a great book to read, especially if one appreciates England and Europe.
My only objection is the new cover on the book, which has nothing to do with the story. The original version has Holt's drawing of himself and Trigger on the cover. Hopefully they kept the many photographs in the new edition. I'm just grateful the book is still available.

A must have for anyone working with UNIX from beginner to advanced system programmer.

The author, Jean Plaidy, who is also known to her legion of fans as Victoria Holt, is a masterful writer of historical fiction. This book, the ninth volume in her "Queens of England" series, is an engrossing portrait of Lady Mary of York, daughter of King James II of England, who would be a future Queen of England. The story is expertly woven with sufficient historical detail so as to satisfy the most discerning readers.

Growing up the beloved daughter of the Duke of York, an ardent Catholic who would one day be crowned King James II of England, Mary was reared as a Protestant to conform to the will of the people. At fifteen years of age, she was forced into a political and loveless marriage with her Protestant first cousin, the dour and reserved Prince of Orange, William. She then left her beloved England to live in Holland with William.

Mary was to spend a number of lonely and desolate years in Holland with William, during which her uncle, King Charles II of England, died. Her father, the Duke of York, was then crowned James II. In turmoil over his avowed Catholicism, England was ripe for change. Mary's husband, William of Orange, being an ambitious man who coveted the English crown, lost no time in making sure that England stayed Protestant and took on his royal father-in-law. His victory over James II paved the way for the reign of William and Mary.

The author paints a portrait of a woman in conflict, torn between her love for her father and her loyalty to her husband. It details the political intrigues of the day that were to have such impact on Mary's life and shape her destiny. It is a wonderful and engrossing blend of fact and fiction. This richly textured novel is sure to delight those who enjoy historical fiction.

This is the first book in the Norman Trilogy series written by the author and a very good work of historical fiction. It chronicles the the life of William the Conqueror, the bastard son of the Duke of Normandy. Born to the daughter of a tanner, his illegitimacy was to be a sore spot and bone of contention for many years. Designated by his father to succeed him as the Duke of Normandy, the circumstances of his birth would cause him to have to fight usurpers within his duchy in order to retain his title.

After a somewhat unusual courtship, William married Matilda, the fiercely independent and beautiful daughter of the King of Flanders. Together, they had a number of children who were to cause him much anger and much sorrow. One of them would eventually bring about a fissure in his relationship with his beloved Matilda.

William, always ambitious, coveted the throne of England and was supported in his desire to be king by his intelligent and equally ambitious wife Matilda. In 1066, after the death of the King of England, Edward the Confessor, with whom he had had a longstanding friendship, William crossed the channel from Normandy to England. The first in a wonderful series on the History of England. Plaidy makes the life of the first King of England interesting and wets your appetite for more. A must for all history buffs!

Jean Plaidy is an excellent author. She manages to make you fascinated with all the characters in the story--from its hero William the Conqueror, to his worthy adversary Harold Godwinsson. A must-read for a historical fiction buffs.
