identifies a global movement
Despite the discouraging pessimism broadcast from daily news and the dark picture that mass media paints of the sad state of humanity, this book brings to light that the world as a whole just might be headed in the right direction after all.

As I read the book I got very excited. The author identifies as a trend what we all see happening around us in our very own social circles, schools, communities, no matter what country we might be in. The discussion of the "whole new culture" helps readers realize that there is not just a lonesome handful of people who have vision and are trying to make a difference in the world, but rather that there is a definite trend of large numbers of people who emphasize heart, compassion, spirit imagination. These people are actually manifesting their ideals through personal and group(NGO and nonprofit) efforts.

Contrary to the cynics of any time, being an idealist is no longer impractical! This is made evident by actual cases and examples. The concept is further strengthened as you find parallels in your own observations of the world around you.

Be inspired and encouraged to let your own visions of a better world lead you on to take action in your own way.

There is hope for the future of the world.
I am thrilled to find that many folks across diverse sections of the globe have found ways to improve the future. I am pleased to find the extensive list of organizations at work implementing inovative techniques for a positive direction.

Restores your hope
A comprehensive and hopeful look at the movements within all of our institutions to replenish life, instead of exhausting it. Will restore your hope for the future. Includes a great resource list to help you connect with like-minded groups.

A compelling chronicle of the pioneer of AD awareness
Alzheimer's disease has been called a walking death -- both for the sufferer and for the family. It is not only about memory loss, but loss of lifestyle, of friendships, of marriage and family. Too often, it is also about a loss of dignity and hope.

Gail Holland's book was the first on the market, and tells the gripping tale of Anne Bashkiroff, an immigrant Russian woman who turned her tragedy in losing her brilliant husband to AD into a movement that has helped millions of people worldwide.

In reportorial format, Holland chronicles a tale of horror and love that resembles a cross between "Dr. Zhivago" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." And yet, through it all, Bashkiroff never gives up hope -- even though she becomes suicidal.

Her tenacity and most of all her compassion for the suffering of others who must care for a loved one with brain impairment is a guiding light. Because she had the courage to speak up in an era when no one was talking about dementia, let alone crusading for humane long-term care, Bashkiroff made it a safer world for those with Alzheimer's.

An inspiring and hopeful story
This is a true story which begins in Shanghai and travels halfway around the world. It chronicles the life journey of a fascinating woman who has experienced great joy and tragedy and turned them both into good works that are still enriching society.
