This book is the best I've seen for doing simple machine experiments at the elementary level. It is perfect for third and fourth grade science classrooms. The directions are simple to follow and the results of the experiments are easy to understand. The function of each simple machine was clear. Students are able to collect the materials from home and the experiments are designed for them to work together. An excellent teacher resource!

For persons who have not been trained in graphing technology from an early age, the use of the graphing calculator is often the most daunting aspect of a precalculus course. This book makes the process intelligible and very user friendly. Not only does it allow readers to learn the commands, it provides step-by-step exercises for mastering the steps in complex problems. The TI calculator manual includes instructions for sophisticated procedures that are not covered in this book, but by the time the student needs to apply them he or she will probably have enough graphing proficiency to ask the professor what steps to follow. I hope the authors include these procedures in a future edition. Nevertheless, this book made the difference between success and failure in precalculus for me, since I was new to this technology, and I highly recommend it for others who are inexperienced with graphing calculators.

If you have a school report to write about beavers this book would be very useful. The illustrations are interesting and helpful and I liked the "beaver facts" they included on the page corners. The book is very informative.

The content of the book is ok. But if you are unfamiliar with the subject and need the answers in the back of the book to check your work, you will just end up frustrated and confused. So far I estimate 30% of the answers in the back of the book are wrong and there is no errata listed for the book from the publisher.
