Love this book
My Son is 19 months old and he LOVES this book! We first checked it out from the library, but we HAD to buy it, he like it so much.

A beautiful book of children
This book is a beautiful journey for your baby and preschoolerabout all those body parts that they love to identify- ears, and noseand toes etc. Further, the illustrations are large and inviting. The most wonderful part of this book is that the children are black and white and asian- they all have noses and ears and eyes, but they don't all look alike. The children look like all of us- different and beautiful. This book conveys more then where your nose is- through illustrations, it introduces and reinforces for our children that everyone is different and that these differences are beautiful and important END

delightful reading. Perfect illustrations.
I have tried out this book in a local nursery school and found that it was just as exciting to the children as Jonathan Lycett-Smith's previous publication 'Kitten Kid Were are You?'. This was also a Walker Book Publication obtainable at the Early Learning Centre. The children loved the little monster and joined in with all the face pulling, ending up with big smiles that knocked us all flat in an ectasy of laughing. What a joy to have a well illustrated book that all the children could relate to in a joyful manner.

A delightful picturebook story for very young readers
In Judy Hindley's delightful picturebook story for very young readers, The Perfect Little Monster, Baby Monsters seems perfect to his parents. He has horrible little eyes and a horrible little nose. he loves to scowl and how and make a terrible mess. But when Baby Monster's whole family gathers for his first birthday party, he reveals he's not quite as perfect as his parent's think! Jonathan Lycett-Smith's colorful, whimsical artwork is perfectly suited to Hindley's fanciful story.

What a great book!
This book is recommended for ages 9-12, but my 6-year-old ate it up and my 4-year-old enjoyed it too. I bought it because my girls are going through a knights and castles thing, and this was recommended as a good place to learn about them. I thought we'd just read that section and put it on the shelf until the other subjects came up. Well my 6-year-old saw things differently. She loves this book. She loves the way it is laid out and what she is learning from it. She had no interest in Vikings or Romans or Egyptians before this, but now she wants more on all these topics. And it is a fun book for me to read too. It is reminding me of things I hadn't learned since I was a child, and the diagrams are so clear that maybe I am learning things better than I did when I was a child.

Four books in one, excellent information!
WOW, this is a compilation of four different civilizations, it includes ALOT of information on understanding how these ancient groups lived. I have learned alot of interesting facts every time I haved looked through the pages. The illustration in it is amazing, there is not a corner left empty in this huge book!

One to wag your tail about!
This is a terrific book for anyone who has a dog. It clearly explains how dogs do unpredictable things, but are a constant source of love. My daugher giggles at all the silly things this dog does and his actions resemble that of our dogs. It helps a child understand that you need to display patience when dealing with a dog, and that that they deserve respect too.

Is He Really A Duck?
Mama Duck is out leading her five baby ducks, and putting them through their paces. "Quack!" says Mama Duck./"That's the way to be!/Do like a duck does!/Do like me!" But who's that "creep-creeping" at the end of the line? He says he's a duck, a big brown duck, "Well, he has no feathers/and he has no beak./He has four claws/on his hairy-scary feet./He has two ears/that stick up a mile,/and a wicked/foxy nose/and a wicked/foxy smile." But shrewd Mama Duck isn't really fooled. She tells that old fox, "Do like a duck does", and pretty soon she has him waddling, scuttling, and strutting, jumping into mud puddles, eating bugs and beetles, running through thistles, and diving into the river. "Down go the ducklings, all tails up! And down goes the stranger. Glup! Glup! Glup!" Judy Hindley's entertaining text is full of rhyme, rhythm, and lots of energy, and complemented by Ivan Bates' engaging illustrations. Each action filled, two page spread is rich in farmyard detail, humor, marvelous facial expressions, and personality that bring the characters to life. And as that old "hairy-scary" fox slinks home with his tail between his legs, little ones will revel at being in on all the fun. Perfect for preschoolers, Do Like A Duck Does! is a joyous, manic romp kids will beg to read again and again, and that's sure to become a new favorite at your house.

Sweet Story, Beautiful Illustrations
My daughter Rosy loves this book! Not only does the main character have a very nice name, but the story of finding a house and having a party is so sweet. The drawings are beautiful, colorful, and aimed at a child audience. (Sometimes other lavishly illustrated books seem to be too sophisticated for young children.) We may have to buy another copy, as we are wearing this one out.

A whole whack of ideas packed in this updated classic
I had this book as a child (late 1970's) ...it is now updated and revised but it was one my most favourite book besides Harriet the Spy. This book taught me how to "spy" even better than Harriet! Wow, its still in print! Doesn't that tell you something? The one thing that stands out in my mind is the different code kits you could make...oh! and writing with lemon juice! oh yeah! and how to make your skin look "old" and wrinkly... kind of like me now...ironic isn't it?

Wonderful book
My son loves this book, all the different kinds of cars and trucks are fun to look at, and the rythm of the story is great for reading aloud. I hope the paperback edition maintains the foldout "centerfold" of the original.

Reprint this FAST!
This can't be out of stock! As a children's librarian, I found this to be a wonderful book. Lots of repetition and vehicles, with big clear pictures. What more could you want? Even parents get into the spirit of the book, yelling 'Stop,' and 'Help' in the appropriate places. Hope that this is not a prelude to out-of-print

Great!!
I work as a Toddler teacher in a daycare with children whose age range from 14mos to 2yrs and this is thier favorite book. I was so glad to see that it was here because I have looked everywhere for since our copy was recently ripped by one of the childern. I can not tell you just how much the children love this book. If I could give more stars I would.
