Lucid but challenging
This is elegant exposition of the moral thought of 4 thinkers: Hume, Kant, Leibniz, and Hegel from one of the most distinguished political philosophers of the 20th century. It is not an easy book to read and is meant to be read alongside the works being discussed. Rawls' insights on their work are perceptive, but even more important is the method used to analyze them. We are to read their work respectfully and generously, considering the philosophic problems they were intended to address and the resources available to them.

a fascinating collection of lectures
One can see why John Rawls rejuvenated interest in moral philosophy -- this book is not only a beautifully written, but also a well organized collection of lectures on moral philosophy. Yes, all the big names are here -- Kant, Hegel, Leibnitz & Hume -- entire sections devoted to each. Utilitarianism, constructivism, intuitionism and perfectionism are all studied carefully as the various moral philosophies produced by these thinkers.

A warning, though: don't leap into this book as a "Moral Philosophy for Dummies" kind of guide. Although you don't have to be a guru, you need to have already read a bit on the subject in order to savour the delights of this book. I myself am taking my first (very wobbly) steps into a field which attempts, as the cover of the book says, to "define the role of a moral conception in human life."

A terrific book for the just diagnosed or anyone with b.c.
This book literally got me through the three weeks between my diagnosis and surgery. Dr. Joseph is a caring, intelligent woman whose personal experience and ability to articulate it are extraordinary. She covers standard and alternative therapies in a non-threatening and easy to understand way. The story of her spritual journey was remarkable.

Every woman should read this book!
This books is more than about breast cancer. It deals with working with doctors, emotional wellbeing and nutrition. It is how every woman should treat herself all the time, not just when faced with a life threateing disease. Very informative and easy to understand

Chaos, Mayhem, Fear, Viciousness, Courage, Kinndess, Love
This is a deeply affecting work, compulsively readable, yet always painful to read, account of the slow garroting of the Jewish community in Vilna. From one page to the next, one is amazed (even now) at the viciousness of the Fascists and the humanity, ingenuity, courage of those they oppressed. God and the devil are both in the details and Kruk gives us plenty of all three.

An Interesting Read for Kant Students
Barbara Hermann is one of the leading scholars in the country on Kant's moral theory. Having taken several philosophy courses from her in college, including a course on Kant, I would describe her views on Kant's normative ethics as highly subtle and sophisticated. In this book, she presents her strong reading of Kant's moral philosophy in a clear and accessible manner. Students of Kant would do well to study this book to deepen and enrich their understanding of Kant's moral thought.

Best book of its kind I've read
I had the honor of having a couple poems included in this book
and am aware of the huge committment made by the authors to
assemble; organize and edit this rarely explored topic. This book looks at a horrible, progressive neurological disease from
an unique perspective; that of those afflicted at an early age; (and their caregivers) who face ignorance and lack of understanding as well as the physical and mental problems commonly associated with the disease.

This is not some dry, statistical analysis but an indepth look
at a nightmare world few people truly understand. It is filled
with useful knowledge and organizations and is a must-have for
anyone suffering from or caring for those with Parkinson's.

I can't stress enough how much this book sheds light on a topic
rarely discussed in this depth. Doctors, nurses and anyone in the
medical field are missing something special if they don't make the time to read this book.

Good Driving, Amelia Bedilia ~ Herman Parish
This book is one that shows how a lot of things can be muisunderstood. It explains how people can screw up a direction, or just what someone si trying to tell them. It also teaches that when you are drving or doing some other important task, you need to concentrate, and make sure you know what you are doing. This book is full of surprises about what happened to Amelia Bedilia when Mr. Rodgers took her driving.

I like this book because these are some things that people do tend to confuse in life. IF you do not know how to drive, you should learn before you go on the road. This is a good childrens book on teaching responsibility and learning. I think many young kids will enjoy this book, escpecially when they are just learning how to read.

Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia
"Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia" is a story about a girl named Amelia Bedelia who wants to visit her cousin Alcolu so she can take a day off and rest on her birthday. Friends of hers, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers allow her to use their car to get to her cousin's house. But first Mr. Rogers takes Amelia out to make sure she still knows how to drive. Along the way, Amelia keeps misinterpreting Mr. Rogers's directions, like pushing on the horn of a cow instead of honking the car horn and misinterpreting a fork in the road as an actual kitchen utensil lying in the road. Soon their car gets a flat tire, but luckily a man in a towtruck happens to pass by and gives them a ride home where a party is waiting for Amelia.
I think that this is a pretty good book because it is fun to see how Amelia Bedelia can mix up just about anything Mr. Rogers says to her but I didn't find anything really special about it. The book is entirely for entertainment of how Amelia totally misinterprets everything around her.

good driving
Amelia Bedelia is out on the road in this adventure. She is taking a road trip and the reader gets to meet new frineds like Jack and the friendly framer. Fans of Amelia's books get to say hi to old friends like Mr.& Mrs. Rogers. Amelia goes driving with Mr. Rogers and they end up with a flat tier. They meet a friendly tow truck guy that takes them back to Mr. Roger's house where there is a suprise ending. I thought that this book was great and should be enjoyed by children of all ages. I rated it a 4.
