The is the single manual for golf, business, relationship and life. It has arrived when our world is not only needy but I blieve ready.

Huge appreciation to this gifted author and teacher.

An Amazing Find!
As a business consultant for the past 25 years and an avid golfer for the past 5, I was intrigued when I first saw CONSCIOUS GOLF - THE 3 SECRETS OF SUCCESS IN BUSINESS, LIFE & GOLF. Reading it was a revelation! The first secret helped my game - especially putting - instantly. The third secret is having a profound effect on the way I think, live and do business. It's probably the most impactful reading I've done in years. From the simple to the profound in a few hours of reading. Amazing. The book is hard to put down, but I had to stop several times to allow some of the ideas to really sink in. I've already written to my friends recommending the book. I've never done a review like this before, but this book is simply outstanding!

THE Definitive Book on Golf
"I'm familiar with Gay Hendrick's work in business and relationships, but after reading what Jack Canfield wrote about Gay's new book on golf (...the best golf book since Michael Murphy's GOLF IN THE KINGDOM"), I wondered, can Gay really write THE definitive book on golf, too? Just reading the first few pages showed me that he's done it! Although I am not a seasoned golfer, I got inspired to hit the course by Conscious Golf!"

The Wonder Of It All
In his book "Conscious Living" Gay Hendricks masterfully takes the reader to a profound realization of the most basic lessons in living. With so many self help books available it is sometimes difficult to know where to focus one's attention and how to proceed along the path of self transformation. Gay Hendricks has an uncanny ability to light the way and often in a humorous and inspiring manner. His insights and practical applications do not leave the reader stranded in an intellectual quagmire with nothing solid to stand on. Instead, he offers solid information that will take, those of us inspired to do so, deep into the realities of our own existence. Gay repeatedly offers opportunities for the reader to commit to an empowered and exciting life where relationships can flourish, creativity abounds and self exploration becomes an adventure spawned by curiosity encased in wonder and vitality.

A New Level of Clarity
Over the last few years, I have read an assortment of relationship books with loads of great strategies that combat a wide array of issues. When I encountered the book "Conscious Loving" by Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks, I was amazed by how different the book was. Gay and Kathlyn were communicating at a more fundamental level that bridged the gap between examples and strategies.

When "Conscious Living" came out, I eagerly pounced on it to see how much more I could piece together. On my first pass through the book, I was deeply moved by the quantity and depth of "aha, that's why" connections I was making with my life and my prior readings. This book did not disappoint me since it was working at the fundamental building block level that I first encountered with "Conscious Loving". After reading the book for the third time, I'm still in awe at how much clarity Gay brings to the journey of life. If I had to sum it up, I would have to say that I was left smiling at the profound beauty of life. I was also pleasantly surprised and deeply moved by the spiritual connections I made through reading the book.

The book follows a natural progression where Gay takes you from a great personal and historic introduction through the five required lessons followed by the inner shifts and outer moves that create a conscious life. The second half of the book deals with conscious solutions to some of the most crucial areas of real world life. I found the book to be chock-full of interesting examples and inspiring snippets of wisdom. One of my favorite snippets was "We argue for our limitations, and, sure enough, we get to keep them."

An Aha! Experience
I have read several of Gay Hendricks books and each is a masterpiece. He surprises me every time by having so much to offer. Reading 'Conscious Living' is an enlightening experience. What touched me deeply is its simple profundity.

Its evident that Gay writes from a depth of authentic experience. He blends the sublime with the practical, the mystical with the earthy, the miraculous with the ordinary. I am confident that this book will become a landmark in the human evolution to embrace its own divinity in ways that are magical.

As I read it, I was in an inspired space to act out of integrity in ways that create enduring change towards greater inner joy & success in the outer world.

saved my marriage
What can i say? This book came to me as a gift and I was
skeptical. I started reading it and became amazed. The
truth is that it came right at a pivotal moment when I felt
I needed to leave a relationship that wasn't working.
This book was more valuable than friends and family
that have given concerned advice throughout my life.
It was better than a therapist! It's a chance to
step out of the protagonist/victim/peacemaker triangle
that makes many relationships mostly entanglements.
This book honestly saved my marriage.

a fabulous 'how to' guide to feeling stuff
This is a fantastic little book i picked up on special. Instead of telling you how you might feel, or how other people feel, it actually teaches you how to feel your own feelings. Starting by giving us a rough guide to where in our bodies different emotions might be felt, it goes on to step by step instructions on the 'how' of feeling - the actual process of feeling things.

At the beginning of this year i started using it with clients, and have had really good results - people saying they've never known they could actually feel things and survive, or that they didnt have to go to such efforts to avoid feelings. Even the big scary feelings from way back when, can be felt with some practice and persistence. Maybe more than 10 seconds, but not usually longer than 5 minutes. If the person feels safe enough to give it a try, that is.

Its also great for helping people who have been dissociated from their feelings and bodies reconnect with their embodied emotions. The body focus is a nice way to get even people with childhood sexual trauma in touch with their body and start listening to it, and maybe even caring for it. Have had some great feedback the practices so far.

The other great thing is the bits about expressing the feelings - not your good old 'assertiveness' formulas either. Simpler, far more effective, and essentially about holding onto yourself rather than trying to change the other person.

I have to say this is a must have book. Sure, its laden down with the pop-psych-speak, but the content is so useful you'll quickly forgive the author.

A life changing book!
Gay has produced another classic book that could change mankind when read and understood and used. Gay has kept it simple and yet challenging. Just like life is.

Fine Work
This book encourages you to look at yourself each day. I used the book in conjunction with the book An Encounter With a Prophet which worked wonders for me.

Such a Healthy Book!
This book is so full of pertinent information in easy to assimilate sizes. It is all about living consciously and taking responsibility for ourself and our growth. It supports my own co-dependent recovery (without mentioning the word.)

There are mini series of processes for problems that offer clear steps toward resolution. Most helpful to me was the 5 step process of expressing feelings that result from another's behavior. It is clear, respectful communication to all involved and so HEALTHY. A MUST for everyone of all ages!

Skip the Corkscrew, Buy this Book!
It was pretty much an accident that I read this book at all. Now I'm recommending it, enthusiastically. I bought it as a last-minute Christmas stocking-stuffer for a friend who has always liked Hendricks' work. Then I flipped it open, as people will do, and found it very compelling -- nicely written, relevant, insightful, and helpful. So I gave my friend a fancy corkscrew instead, and I kept the book. I suppose it could transform one's life, which would make it the world's greatest bargain; for now, I can say that it has enriched and improved mine -- which is still a heck of a good deal, for the price of a fancy corkscrew.

As the title suggests, there's a little lesson regarding conscious living for each day of the year, followed by an activity one can do to more successfully live that way. Nothing too heavy: most days take up less than a small page. Both authors are very good at illuminating the small ways in which we risk being less than our best selves in our everyday lives, and the alternation of the authorial role between Hendricks and his therapist niece provides a broad range of interesting anecdotal examples - male and female, older and younger.

While I would tip my hat to anyone committed enough to adhere to the book's one-lesson-per-day structure, it also works perfectly well, I think, as a grab-bag of reminders and tactics for getting more out of life. Good stuff, well worth owning.

well written tours, comprehensive
Of the 8 books that i have on touring within europe, its this book that i'm taking with me on my trip. A well written guide. It is out of print and until recently amazon didn't even have a listing for it. All routes are broken into day to day segments(about a week long each). I would still recommend "touring club italiano" maps on the specific regions you intend to travel. This book covers 4 areas of italy. lake distrist of lombarby, umbria, tuscany, and the piedmont wine country. This book doesn't have hotel info so it is more of a practical guide rather than a year to year tour based book.

Another book that has recently caught my eye is "Garfagnana by Bicycle : Cycle Touring and Mountain Bike(2001)," although it appears that this book concentrates on a very small area in umbria. It could worth checking out if traveling within the area.

Challenge yourself to explore what's blocking your success.
I have always been a believer in the concept of successful leaders being those who model the behavior that influences their company culture. This book is focused on the relevant and practical observations and actions that make a leader into a down-to-earth visionary. I have been using the suggestions every day and have greatly improved my business relationships and my presence within leadership. Challenge yourself to explore what you and your behavior does to contribute to your own and others success. EASY-TO-THE-POINT-IT WORKS!

A practical manual we have to consult very often.
Innovation, creativity, leadership start in the individual and the Corporate Mystic distill in a very condensed and practical way how CEOs and leaders by committing themselves to integrity foster commitment, vision and innovation in organizations, and this then explains why in them, they so often fail. Today when we hear everyday these words The corporate Mystic is a must-read for every one, but more than a book to read it is a practical manual we have to consult very often

Necessary reading, whether you're in business or not.
The only complaint I have is that this is passed off as a business book. Nonsense!! Leave out the "corporate" words & you've got vital advice for anyone literate enough to open it. No mumbo-jumbo, either, just some solid advice on how to get ahead in life by being honest & expecting the same. Read it every few months.

"Conscious Loving" a gift for all our relationships
I have read and re-read this book and have found it to be the best book on building & healing relationship I have seen. Clearly distinguishes the subtle ways we sabatoge our relationships, then sets forth a clear new paradigm of being conscious creators with powerfully concieved steps and commitments, and excellent exercises for transforming oneself and others from victim to creator inside close relationships. Well organized, Conscious Loving is a stand-out contribution. Just the simple step of constantly "Claiming Creativity" has made a huge difference in my relationships.

One of the GREATEST books I've ever read
If you are looking for a book that offers incredibly wise information to improve your relationships and your life, READ CONSCIOUS LOVING. I find Gay and Kathlyn's ideas to be easy to understand and incorporate into my life. My marriage, friendships and business relationships have vastly improved, as well as my overall vitality. If you like this book, I highly recommend the follow up book, Conscious Living.

A Gentle Loving Path to Mending Relationships
Without doubt, this is one of the greatest works I have read on the art of relationships and loving. This book (which I have read a number of times) emphasizes the beauty and necessity of telling the "microscopic truth" a value that we as a society are not taught to embrace. I believe that Gay and Kathy have successfully demonstrated what it means to be in a "conscious" relationship, as well as providing examples of the precise moment when couples enter into an "unconscious" relationship. You will find yourself easily wanting to read more as you apply their methods to your daily life and find that they work!

To Love Is To Be Human
Undefended Love is by far one of the most insightful explanations of our human condition. The concepts are expressed clearly and in a manner that invites the reader to participate in the process of self discovery. While many of the ideas may be familiar to those who have read self help books or books about relationships, this book makes it possible to begin a personal and meaningful journey to embracing your true self. We shouldn't try to fulfill our needs through someone else, but rather find within ourselves the ability to satisfy our own needs with the magic that resides in all of us. Psaris and Lyons challenge our beliefs and guide us to an understanding that painful feelings are clues to our core identity and should be investigated not avoided if we intend to deepen our relationship with ourselves and others. They broaden our thinking by explaining that we all implement behavioral strategies to avoid uncomfortable or painful feelings in thr belief that it is necessary to cover up our vulnerabilities. We mistakenly describe a successful relationship as one in which we get all our needs met, but this is both myth and mistake. We must look to deepen our basic appreciation of ourself in order to connect intimately with someone else.

The book is unusual in that the authors provide us with the questions we need to ask in order to begin to uncover our own truths. They provide us with a road map that helps the reader to manuever successfully through the obstacles we all use to protect the image that we have created for others to see because we are either lack the courage to show our true selves or we don't know who we really are. If you believe in love, then this is a must read! I loved this book so much that I bought 7 copies over the last 4 months to give to friends and my therapist!!

Wonderful! A must-read book!
"To receive and offer unconditional love, we must become undefended and unconditional lovers" write authors and visionaries Jett Psaris and Marlena Lyons. How to achieve the trust, intimacy and strength to drop one's defenses and "...resurface from our protected hiding place and come into direct contact with ourselves and our partners" is the vital subject of Undefended Love.

Here is the means to recognize the complex ways we protect ourselves emotionally, and the tools to expand, not limit our ability to know and love one another. Utilizing a deep understanding of relationships, and case studies of many couples in transition, the authors map the way to success. We learn, "When we try to relate to our partners with our multiple layers of protective padding in place, it is as if we are trying to hug them through ten layers of overcoats. Our outer layers may meet, but our longing to be deeply connected remains unfulfilled."

When we shed these mantles of protection we become more capable of being nonreactive, openhearted and loving in our relationships. Authors Psaris and Lyons show us how to do this by eliminating the preoccupations we substitute for relationships, determining what it is we really want, and dissolving our defenses.

Undefended Love teaches us that, "Instead of trying to maintain a sense of harmony by limiting who we are, we embrace our partners as intimate allies." What a splendid goal because it leads to the discovery that we are all one vast, loving, universal heart. In this reviewer's opinion, Undefended Love is the roadmap to that goal, and the transformation to become whole!

A psychotherapist's goldmine.
I have been a couples therapist for more than twenty years, and have never felt satisfied with the efficacy of existing approaches. In my clinical opinion, the Undefended Love model is the most exciting development in the field. I have never seen such a sensitive, compelling, respectful process. What Jett Psaris and Marlena Lyons have done in less than 200 pages is present a comprehensive theory of human development, describe the personality as an intricate self-defense structure, and delineate the ways our distorted beliefs about ourselves create identities that hide our vulnerability as we present ourselves to the world and even to those to whom we feel close.

The ways in which these resulting structures prevent us from being able to sustain an intimate bond are discovered by way of a series of questions and processes which lead us to the only source of transformation, ourselves.

Their model addresses human beings on every level, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and regardless of where the individual is in their life, the processes steadily lead the person closer to the undefended self.

Their concepts are original and arresting: essential self, cracked identity, compensatory identity. The simplicity of their techniques for guiding individuals and couples into their internal landscape belies the power that they possess to bring a person to self-discovery and self-responsibility. The arrow is artfully turned from outside to inside, the road to intimacy, first with self, then with the other.

Psaris and Lyons provide the reader with the means to explore themselves and their relationships in a way that gently expands their capacity to create fulfilment. I highly recommend this book to mental health professionals and to anyone interested in the human condition. And, all of this wisdom is wrapped in beautiful language. It is a treasure, and a pleasure to read.
