If you can't beat them join them
As a member of the proletariot, I have found after years of immense slumber that value investing is the way to go. True kapitalism is not perfect, but communism seems far worse. So in conclusion Komrads, value investing is the best way for the proletariot to enter the bougerousie.

good reading for business minds
I would strongly recommend the book for all MBAs, serious investors.

It provides valuable insights into the art of investing and conducting business. The practical aspects of what is not taught in B schools are covered in the book.

NOT JUST FOR MANAGERS, IT'S A HANDBOOK FOR ALL
They call it "Successful Manager's Handbook". That is correct. But one thing you should know about this beautifully structured text is that it benefits anyone who seeks knowledge from it. Thus, I would not advise you to wait until you become a 'successful manager' before paying attention to it.
Even if you are the most unsuccessful messenger around, the valuable productivity guidelines in this book would go a long way in defining and improving your status. If diligently applied, the principles of this book would enhance your overall potentials: be it official or domestic.
This book is a handbook for all. It is an asset for matured dealings.

I haven't read this book yet
I just picked up a copy in an airport bookstore. I looked at one suggestion, and used it when I got back to the office. My productivity has skyrocketed. I think a lot of the suggestions here are commonsense. But do any of us have enough commonsense?

Dr. C. Wacko's Miracle Guide to Designing and Programming Your Own Atari Computer Arcade Games

I used this book so much I litterally wore it out.
I was given this classic about 15 years ago. It was the basis of everything I ever knew about programming in Atari BASIC. Now I am learning Visual Basic and C++. All the basic concept I laened from Dr. C. Wacko still aply. It's unfortunate that due to the fact Atari BASIC and Atari computers have become obsolete, so has this hilarious and educatonal book. It's better than the "complete idiot's guide's" or "...for dummies" books could ever hope to be. Wouldn't it be great if David Heller wrote new books for current programming languages?

Realistic Ambitions
Since excellence in today's highly competitive workplace demands more than knowledge of your field, people skills are essential.

If you want to develop your management skills and achieve your objectives, take a peek at this tiny resource book. While it isn't an all encompassing management book like the Essential Manager's Manual, it is easy to read and you can deal with one specific issue at a time. There are many books in the Essential Managers Series.

Robert Heller will show you how to build key attributes, develop confidence, master risk taking, lead effectively, stay in shape, increase learning, think more effectively, write and speak more fluently, boost your creativity, choose priorities, understand money, reduce stress, reassess your goals, find a mentor, take the lead and plan ahead.

I especially enjoyed the little hints placed in yellow boxes throughout the book. Here are some of my favorites:

Hint 97: Avoid changing your opinions to match those of the majority. Hint 42: Do not confuse wild, far-out, impractical ideas with creativity.

So, how will you know if you have achieved success in a particular area of your personal management qualities portfolio? Page 66-69 is a self-assessment which you can take to evaluate your achievement. As you work towards excellence, realize this is a lifelong challenge.

Keys to the file cabinet of management wisdom!
While your ability to manage improves with experience, this 72-page mini-guide will help you to master the fundamentals of successful management techniques. This book is filled with practical techniques to show you how to influence behavior and build positive interpersonal relationships in the workplace.

Through an understanding of why people behave in certain ways, you can use practical techniques to resolve conflicts and build a committed, motivated team.

"Natural instinctive behavior is not always appropriate in the workplace." pg. 6

Robert Heller shows how people adopt instinctive modes of behavior. This includes: reacting emotionally, avoiding risks, fighting under threat, spreading gossip, competing for status, dwelling on past successes, feeling more comfortable in small groups, drawing conclusions and fragmenting into small warring groups.

In order to encourage cooperation, Robert suggests that appropriate behavior must be followed. This includes: establishing facts, taking risks, encouraging non-combative relationships, insisting on detailed analysis before judgment, practicing total open communication, recognizing achievement not status, learning from mistakes and choosing to work in cooperative groups.

Robert Heller is a leading authority on management consulting. He shows how people have higher needs, such as pride in work. People want to feel valued. This book will show managers how to help employees build confidence, communicate clearly and achieve their potential. Through case studies and assessment tests, managers can find solutions to major workplace situations.

I have never read such an enjoyable book on management. This holds many keys to wisdom. This tiny book will help you develop first-class people skills.

Reminders and wholesome advice
Essential Managers books can be overly simple and a bit stiff. Yet, most of the books take a considered, reasonable approach to management topics that I find refreshing. I appreciate the old-fashioned but extremely common-sense approach Heller and Hindle take in this particular book, which doesn't pander to the now-common "throw it into the team and let them hash it out" approach to getting the job done.

How to delegate is a must to have on your shelf when you must confront serious basic problems focusing your direct reports on the work at hand. Though I would not use the actual delegation form suggested in this book, the concept has proved useful over and over again.

Like all of the Essential Manager books, Dorling Kindersley provides a wonderful, simple user interface, with great formating and lots of charts, diagrams, suggested forms, etc. I advise you to get it, read it, and keep it where you can see it when you start to pull your hair out.

EXCELLENT MANAGEMENT TIPS
"Managing For Excellence" is a portable well-illustrated handbook, which harbours all the essential tips for improving (individual) performance. The book is very straightforward. It is comprehensive, and highlights all the important factors that strengthen and weakens partnerships.
This is one book which helps its user to better understand strategies and improve output. It is superbly organized, and presents its techniques in a practical format.
However, anyone who already has the "Successful Manager's Handbook" need not spend on this one. Both books contain similar information.

Where other books stop this one continues
This books introduces the more advanced Java topics, wich are mentioned in other books but never explained. This book explains these topics in clear and easy to understand way. If i see a Sybex book i mostly leave it in the bookstore, but this book is ok to pick up!

Fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fab...fabulous!!
This is definitely one of the better (a lot better!) books on Java I've bought so far(I've got about 10 others). Explains difficult topics well. I use a more general book on Java for a general view of the language/classes and I use this one for more difficult topics which a lot of books only mention but do not explain. The use of diagrams and figures together with easy to follow explanations gives a better understanding of Java topics like streams, threads and networking.

Very detailed and specific look at Java features
After taking a class from Phil, I went ahead and bought his book. I have found it to be one of the best resources for general Java matter, as well as in depth discussions on advanced technologies. A+ Phil.
