I love this book
The original Bridget (not that Jones chick) is a middle-aged woman whose husband has left her for Rebecca, a younger model. She lives in her flat on the outskirts of London, where she is expected by ex-husband and grown daughter to behave herself and stay tucked away. Well, Bridget isn't having any of it.

She decides to behave badly -- and moves into her ex-husband and wife's house at the invitation of her ex-mother-in-law Frieda, who always liked Bridget and wants that chippy Rebecca out. But now Rebecca is pregnant, and actually thinks it would be good to have Bridget around to help take care of the impending baby.

Well, Bridget isn't having any of THAT either. She moves to her daugter's flat and is a hit with all the flatmates. She meets her daughter's friend Glen and a May-December romance begins. Meantime, Frieda is plotting a way to kill Rebecca and have her neatly out of the way.

This story, with all its dramatic roller coaster, is told in a witty entertaining style and is a sure favorite of anyone who loves the Brit-chick genre but wants something original!

Good but not her best
I just finished reading this book and it was good but not one of her best. When the book first starts Bridget Mordaunt was very boring then the story line picked up a little. Then the book went into a different direction and it really picked up. Bridget was a nice person at first but then she changed. The story was getting really interesting and the it went back to Bridget & then it got slow again. But it is worth reading. It has a lot to do with the different in the classes back in the nineteenth century.

Impecable!
I don't have many words for this book...it left me speechless. The strength and weaknesses of humanity...the trial ans tibulations...oh lord...it's almost like a soap opera (I hate soaps but I loved thia book! )
