Thanks Godness I found you
I have been searching for the Betsy books ever since my oldest daughter was born 9 years ago. Reading about the birth of Betsy's little sister, Star, turned me on to reading for the rest of my life. I couldn't wait to read every book in the series. This book is one of my fondest memories as a girl in elementary school. I only hope to share these with my two little girls. I also hope that someday they will be republished for new generations to enjoy.

Wonderful Childhood Favorite
This is a wonderful book about little Star, Betsy's younger sister from the Carolyn Haywood series. My daughter and I loved reading about this little girl and how she can't wait for kindergarten and the wonderful way her parents make her dreams come true. A truly wonderful book for little girls.

Betsy's Little Star
I have been searching for this book for 20 years now. As a child, I was an underachiever in school due to a poor home environment. However, in fourth grade, I found these "Betsy" books and would read one in an afternoon! I couldn't wait to finish one book to get to the next.

I remember mostly Betsy's little Star because how the writer wrote about the birth of her baby sister was truly incredible.

I have not seen these books in decades, but now have a little girl of my own and really want to purchase this series for her.

You can't go wrong with these books. They instilled in me a love for reading that helped me to go on to graduate from High School with High Honors and from University in three years, Magna Cum Laude. My love for reading remains to this day.

A book that everyone should read!
This book was such a great book that I think everyone should read it. It was a big book but I think everyone could read it. You can bring it on trips and there are lots of books on the internet for you to get some more. The first one I've read so far is Betsy's Busy Summer and it was pretty good. That's why my daddy and I are ordering some other books of Betsy. You can too. You could also get it at a library or at your school you might be able to check it out. Try to go to places where there are lots of books and try to get Betsy's Busy Summer. Betsy's Busy Summer is good because the first chapter is pretty wierd but once you read up to the ending it is a pretty good book. Hope you read it soon!

A terrific read for any kid
I read this book when I was a kid over and over again. My old copy is falling apart from being read so much. Although the story takes place at the beginning of WW2, it reflects an era in which childhood seemed more innocent than today. It's the story of a little girl named Merry who goes to America from London to stay with relatives until the war ends. The story meant a lot to me since my parents are both from London and I was raised in the USA. I would recommend this to everyone.

As a parent, very enjoyable reading...
Found this lovely little book in the "discard" pile at the library, so I grabbed it for my two daughters (ages 6 & 8). The book is about 150 pages with 10 chapters and pictures throughout for personal enjoyment. I immediately enjoyed the book from chapter 1, and each night I read a chapter with my girls, asking them questions about what's happening, what's happened, and what they think is going to happen. They are really relating to the adventures. Simple, yet entertaining. Love how little educational tidbits are placed in the story. It's a wonderful learning tool. Honestly, my daughters are begging for the next chapter each night! That's why I'm online now trying to order another book by this lovely author. Never a dull moment. Recommend this little gem highly! - Happy Mom. :)

A Schooldays Classic!
I start every school year reading this book, a chapter a day, to my class. I've taught first grade and kindergarten, and the students never fail to connect with Betsy. They can't wait to hear what will happen next!

A classic from my childhood that I never forgot--a book that's just plain fun.

My favorite book from childhood
Of course, it helps that my name is Betsy! This was my first chapter book that I read in Kindergarten or First Grade...learning all about school with the other Betsy. My 4 1/2 year old is just about to start Kindergarten, and is a great little reader. I have been looking for a chapter book for her reading level. We tried my old paperback of Stuart Little...which is a great story, but too many words she doesn't know. I picked up my red fabric bound copy of "B is for Betsy" tonight to see if she could read it. I sat down and read it in about an hour...brought back so many memories. It is in great shape (unlike Stuart, which has pages falling out), and I think I will start her on it tomorrow!

Eddie and Gardenia

Eddie learns about life while having fun adventures.
Eddie is a boy with a goat who has a knack for getting into mischief. He takes his goat, Gardenia, by train and on his own, to his uncle's ranch. There he learns to do many jobs on the ranch, not the least of which is driving a truck standing up (and he a young boy!) When the time comes that he must return to his home, his departure is truly poignant. I read this book 25 years ago and still recall the passages with a fond tear. I hope that this book may be re-released soon, as I would like to share it with my own children!

A good book for young readers
I had read this book in the 2nd grade, and loved it. Although that was many moon's ago, I still like the book to this day. It has good descriptions to intice the young reader's imagination and make him/her feel they are actually there. This is a good book to read aloud to a 1st-3rd grade classroom.

Fun,adventure and depth of feeling all in one
Carolyn Haywood, with her usual fun-loving flair, tells a story of how Eddie had to give his goat away-but has a whole lot of fun and adventure while he does it.It is one of Carolyn Haywood's few books that touches on warmth and sincere feelings children have for animals.

A terrific story,one of Haywood's best
Eddie is truly human in this story, and many children can relate to his predicaments. It's a lot of fun how he gets his pritning press, and as he does, realizes that girls aren't all that bad!
