...[Everyone loves] thumbing thru the book finding something to do. usually have everything on hand at a moments notice. this book is looking well worn and for good reason.

What I love best about this book is that I can usually pull together the items needed to do the experiments. My 4 year old loves to do experiments and I can let him browse the book for a picture that looks interesting and then we can do the experiment. I do not have to worry that I do not have the neccessary items. In fact, many times you can read the directions to your child and they can do the experiment alone. This is such a great book that I stumbled on while browsing Amazon. I highly recommend this book as a first look at science for your child. Enjoy!

This is an incredible book. The experiments are easy, fun, and cool to do. You and your child will be amazed at how easy these tricks and experiments really are to do. If you're a teacher, you'll love this book for your your primary classroom. My students have effectively completed these experiments and were simply amazed at how cool they turned out! This is a must have book. Really!!!

I am a preschool teacher and bought this book to use in my classroom when I begin to teach the 5 senses. This is a great book for those who work with children and for those who have children. It is full of great ideas for lesson plans and for teaching your child the 5 senses. The illustrations and directions are easy to follow and make learning about the senses fun.

This book had some neat ideas and experiments, but not enough explanations for them. I have a very inquisitive 4 year old and this book just didn't satisfy his curiosity or my expectations.

As a science teacher who specializes in Early Childhood Science, you can't find a better book than this. It has good simple activities. It has different questions you can ask the children to stimulate their thinking. It has short explanations for grown-ups. It even has literature (read-aloud) suggestions. I've read a lot of science books, those published by educational publishers, those with fancy titles etc... and this is the one I recommend to our teachers.

We bought "Science Play" not knowing the joy it wouldbring to our three year old. She LOVES this book! We enjoy doing theactivities with her and like that most "supplies needed" are items we have around the house. The activities are easy, fast and interactive so toddlers are kept interested. Another Bonus: No TV or Computer needed -- just Mom or Dads time.

I bought this book thinking it was another book I saw on TV called "The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions". At first I was very dissapointed with the book because it didn't have the exciting secret toy store recipes like the book on TV, but after 3 weeks on our book shelf my kids have already made two projects and seem to be enjoying the book.

I met these authors at an education conference, and they are really genuinely nice people. I am an author of similar type activity books, so it was refreshing to share ideas and book plans in a friendly, open manner. Often authors are a bit secretive or possessive of their work, but these two were very open to sharing, which we did with big smiles. Again, refreshing! ... :o)

I knew what I was buying when I bought this book. I wanted this book. This is a great book. There are 100's (? It seems like that at least) recipes for clay, paint, glue and more in there. It is an excellent book. I turn to this book whenever I need playdough. I turn to this book when I want to make paper mache and when I want to make fingerpaints, I turn to this book. This is a fantastic resource. Every kindergarten, pre-k teacher should have this on their personal shelves.

gizmos and gadgets contains easy, readable information on scientific principles along with appropriate, fun, hands-on experiements. Makes for great reading for scout leaders, teachers or those who like to mess around at home with their kids. Good addition to any library.

I found this book to be a good rescource for parents and teachers. However, several of my friends and I bought it by mistake thinking it was a book we saw on TV called "The Ultimate Book Of Kid Concoctions". Although this book is not as creative and entertaining as "The Ultimate Book of Kid Concoctions", it is still a worth while purchase.

I'm an elementary science teacher, and I used this book for an after school workshop that I held with the art teacher. The kids loved it. They really enjoyed making their own art materials, and then getting the chance to use them.

The book has recipes for all sorts of materials like paints, clay, and glue. But it doesn't stop there. It also has all sorts of suggestions for projects to do with the materials you make.

The only downside about the book is that it didn't put as much emphasis on the science of making the art materials as it could have. Even more information about how each ingredient contributes to the finished product, and more explicit encouragement to experiment with the amounts and types of ingredients would really help kids understand the "science of art".
