Wondeful book, with plenty of photographs
After having tried to get through Bulfinch's _Mythology_ with little luck, this little book came in very handy! It contains much of the same myths (although not as many), but it comes with a photograph every single time you turn the page. Depicted are paintings, statues, etc. that show various mythological figures. Remembering the myths was hard, and if you're more of a visual person, then these pictures really help you remember. And plus, the paintings are absolutely beautiful, and many of them are in full color. A nice companion to the Bulfinch _Mythology_--but I still haven't gotten to it yet! A delightful way to learn about mythology if you have a hard time with just text and need a little visual to perk things up.

Although not perfect, probably the best available so far
I am delighted that this book is somewhat dated because I want to build the furniture as close to the original as possible. I don't want to use biscuits for joints if Stickley used dowels.I rate this book four stars rather than five because I want to build a couch, which isn't included in the book, and must design my own using the other projects as guides. Also, the technique for constructing the spring padded seat or seat cushions isn't much help. Though I strive to be a purist in construction, times have changed and it isn't possible for me to run down to the local spring store of my small town to purchase springs to attach to the seat webbing. Perhaps springs can still be found in upholstry supply stores of the larger cities. In my copy of the book the measurement errors seem to have been corrected. If it were possible to award another half star, four and a half would be my rating. All-in-all, it's a mighty fine book and I highly recommend it.

Great book, however a costly error in some project specs
I purchased this book as a guide to building a version of a Stickley piece of furniture. I have found an error that quickly became very costly in the projects section on the book. The "Morris Chair" project materials list calls for lumber dimension of 37" by 5" by 1" for the arms. Next, the text of the project specifies "From the extra length of the arm provided by the oversize dimension given in the materials list, cut a piece 5 1/2" in length." Well, that is where the problem lies. The FINISHED arm should measure 37" long. We just cut 5 1/2" from that measure, leaving 31 1/2" arm. The materials list should read : 42 1/2" by 5" by 1" . At the prices for Quarter Sawn White Oak these days, you wont want to make the same mistake.

excellent history and project book
This is the book that Gustav Stickley would have written. I am building the Morris chair, and I am finding everything works just as is should. Study the text and pictures, (measure twice, cut once), understand what the author says and marvel at your work! With so much Mission furniture, the author needs to offer a companion book with more projects

Buy this book...make beautiful furniture.

The Folk Art of Bali: The Narrative Tradition (The Asia Collection)

Beautiful book, very well written
I found the writing to be first rate. The illustrations were beautiful, although in some cases the color reproduction could have been better. Readers interested in Balinese art won't find a better book.

J.M.W. Turner "That Greatest of Landscape Painters": Watercolors from London Museums

Master of Atmosphere
The watercolors of JMW Turner have the concise, simplified vision of contemporary art even though they were painted in the mid 1800's. This survey shows the progression of this master of light and delicate color from tightly delineated landscapes to the atmospheric , nearly abstract vistas of his late career. The reproductions are supported by quotes selected from writings contemporary to the paintings. This book provides an inspirational overview of the work of Turner and belongs in the library of the serious watercolor artist.

Good for students
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The book covers a broad spectrum of systems issues and is a good introduction for the aspiring systems analyst. Systems Analysis and Design would go well in a classroom setting as it does well to outline and explain the roles, environment, and tools of a systems analyst.

The book was written to help prepare the reader for the Master CIW Enterprise Developer certification exam (Database Specialist).

Excellent Book
The text book was prescribed for the Course that I attended.
It is an excellent book! It is easy to read, got plenty of practical case studies, review questions, quality graphics, etc. The subject has been well researched and written in an easy to follow format.
I found the on-line sites useful and powerful. Plenty of referals, etc.
Excellent Book!!!

My Students Love It!
I teach systems analysis courses, and this book is an excellent text for us. It is easy to read, well-researched, and describes current real-world thinking in this field. It has many good case studies, along with an on-line virtual company case study that is unique. I highly recommend this book.
