Amazing
This is an incredible story and told with such honesty. She doesn't try to paint a pretty picture, even of suffering, she just tells you what happened to her and her mother and her friends as best she can. What a remarkable woman!

A Must Read!!!
The first book I ever read about the Holocaust back when I was in college some 17 yrs ago... It was the most inspiring and frightful thing I had ever read in my life... To this day I still pay homage to those survivors who need their stories to be read for our future generations, all because of this book... Kitty's book is about love, human courage and the need to survive at all odds.. Kitty and her mother are known as the longest mother/daughter survivors of Auschwitz... If you have never read a book about the personal accounts of the holocaust, I recommend this be your starting point...

This is my favorite book
I read this book many times for over a year. It is a wonderful book about a girl that survived one of the most infamous concentration camps during the Holocaust, it shows courage, strength, and the will to live.

It makes a gorgeous coffee-table book, but it's a lot more.
The development of American musicals is a gift we gave to the world, but how do we begin? This book is a cultural history, focusing on the interweaving history of theater and film musicals. Red, Hot, and Blue brings in the various elements that go into creating a musical movie or play. These include performers, songwriters, directors, choreographers all within the framework of the society in which they work. It presents the atmosphere in which an art form was created.

Photographs, posters, sheet music, all help to illustrate this phenomenon called musical theater, which blossomed during the 20th century. It also offers other sources for further information on any of the aspects treated here.

An excellent memoir
A wonderful follow-up book to the highly acclaimed "Act One" by playwright Moss Hart (Carlisle's husband). A pretentious, over-bearing mother guides Kitty's career from childhood. Although Kitty herself claims that she was never very pretty, couldn't act very well and was at best, a mediocre singer, she still managed to have a movie career (not successful), several Broadway hits and finally a performance at the Metropolitan Opera. She became a staple of the Goodson-Todman game show, "To Tell the Truth" and these appearances are what she is best remembered for. Her marriage to Moss Hart allowed her access to some of the wittiest and cleverest writers, actors and performers of the day. The characters in the book are probably more interesting than Kitty herself, but her observations of them are charming and self-deprecating.

Kitty! A Fascinating Life Story Told by a Fascinating Lady
Before reading this book, I best knew Kitty Carlisle as the glamorous panelist on "To Tell the Truth" - but there's alot more to this lovely lady than guessing who the imposters are. Kitty did more in her first 15 years of life than most of us could do in 100 lifetimes! She is instantly loveable and speaks from the heart. While she's eager to talk about her successes, she's not afraid to share her most miserable failures with the reader - and she's had plenty of both. Her relationships, with her mother, her husband, Moss Hart and many of Hollywood and Broadway's biggest names are put on display for all to see. This book was by far, the biggest surprise autobiography I've ever read. It kept me turning pages from the first word. Highly recommended!
