A Billiard Atlas on Systems and Techniques, Volume III
Published in Paperback by Billiard Atlas (1996)
Authors: Walt N. Harris and Walter Harris
Amazon base price: $28.50
Average review score:

congratulations
Words fail me to congratulate Harris for the splendid work he has done. The four books offer a large selection of secrets and techniques for studious billards players to explore. Putting all those systems and techniques into words, must have been pioneering !!! The greatest billiards players will nearly never reveal their secrets, unless one's willing to pay for expensive private lessons. People like Harris are very rare in the world of billiards

First three books are great
I bought because of one-pocket interest and find many useful ideas

Solve simple carom problems
As a tournament director, I have witnessed over 2000 pool and billiard tournaments and it is obvious that many VERY GOOD players cannot control the cue ball, or solve simple carom problems. There has never been anything written like these Billiard Atlas books...these systems and techniques open the door of possibilities for pool, or 3-cushion players, like never before.

Brer Rabbit, Uncle Remus and the `Cornfield Journalist: The Tale of Joel Chandler Harris
Published in Hardcover by Mercer University Press (1999)
Author: Walter M. Brasch
Amazon base price: $17.50

IT SHORE DON'T STANK
Very informative book. I learned so much about my African heritage. I thought the name 'BRASCH' was a strange name for a brother. Who knew a white man could teach me so much about my roots!! It took me a long time to read the book because each chapter was full of information. I had to give my brain time to process it all. I was sorry when I had read the last chapter. I live near Atlanta and plan to visit the home of Joel Chandler Harris.

I bought several copies to send as gifts to relatives.

Involving and engrossing, yet scholarly
While the tales of Uncle Remus are some of the most notable American folk tales, the name of their author Joel Chandler Harris is less known, and many have no awareness of this preserver of Afro-American dialect and folklore. Brer Rabbit, Uncle Remus & The 'Cornfield Journalist' uses primary sources from letters and newspaper accounts to diaries and art to provide a cultural biography of Harris, a man who lived in the South and preserved a tradition which might otherwise have been lost. Involving and engrossing, yet scholarly in research and depth.

A well-researched, well-written biography.
This is a fascinating book. Anyone interested in the story behind the characters we knew as children--Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, and Uncle Remus--would find Walter Brasch's thorough research, his extensive collection of photographs and illustrations, and his thoughtful treatment of recent and current debate over the work of Joel Chandler Harris to be well worth an investment of $... and a few hours of pleasurable reading.

Why Is It Called ¿The $50,000 Business Makeover Marathon¿?
After listening to this series and applying what I've learned I have a few reasons why master copywriter and business consultant Drew Eric Whitman selected the title.

Maybe it relates to the fact that I would have paid $50,000 to him and the 10 other experts that have literally super-charged my business and increased profits. And at that price, it would have been a steal.

Or maybe the $50,000 references what average business owners can add to their annual profits after listening. I know in my case, $50,000 would be a low estimate for the increase in business I expect over the course of the next year as a direct result of listening to this course.

Whatever the reasoning behind the title, in my opinion this is material that every person running or thinking of starting a business should own. It delivers essential business and marketing information (some of which I've never heard before but works almost like magic), and it spoon feeds it to you in such a way that you not only completely understand it, but you're excited and can't wait to start applying it to your business immediately.

I've had many nights where I've only grabbed a few eyefuls of sleep since owning this. But I want to thank Drew Eric for giving me the information and motivation to get in and do something that's responsible for literally putting more money in my pocket while making it fun.

Who is this Drew Eric Whitman? And how can he help me?

Those were my thoughts as I read his captivating ad for The $50,000 Business Makeover Marathon. I was spell bound. And you will be too.

Being an adventureous sort, as all entrepeneurs are, I decided to take the plunge and purchase it. You know what? It was everything he said it would be, and more!

Drew, if you read this, thank you. We may never meet but you have changed my life and business.

After listening and putting into action many of the tips(lessons, really) I have seen an amazing change in my professional and personal affairs.

I own six other tape programs on sales and marketing and this one is unique. Get it now. While you're thinking about it.

Better hurry. Your competition may already have this.

Energetic, Interesting, Motivating, VALUABLE.
I confess to buying too many business tapes. I am also too often disappointed by the quality of the production as well the content.

THESE tapes, however, are fantastic. The speakers are all interesting to listen to - not boring. No fluff. Recorded in a studio, so you can ALWAYS hear the speakers. The topics will be valuable to any small to medium size busines owner or marketing executive who wants to expand and grow their business.

You may have heard SOME of this material before, but you haven't heard ALL of it -- and it's all in one powerful package.

IMHO, it's worth a listen -- again and again.

River City Miracle
In Wichita, I selfishly organized these locals recently using Bondzinsky's ladder club concept so that they could see their averages and have their hearts on improvement. It worked too. There are 14 players. In one month they've played over 100 games and the housemen are cleaning the table everyday. Without 4 pounds of chalk, they play longer and rather well. Then, I make available the Atlas books for those that stand still long enough to read a select page or two. Most will. Those of us that rely on the books and our working our way through them (one new thing at a time) "call our shots" to each other, so we can compare and discuss the many approaches. It's a minor miracle, right here in River City. One guy will say, "Rising Sun," another offers, "Dead Ball here", "Sid", "Walt's," "Sang Lee," "Plus," all those familiar names in the books. Here's the punchline: "these writings have given even Wichita a body of information that is improving play and interest in the game...not just for students and 3 cushion fanatics, like me, but for the newcomers and converted pool players in town. The way these books play a part in the improvement of the game is probably greater than Walt will ever know."

Legally change his name to Santa Claus
All year long Walt Harris should wear a red cap and a long white beard . And have his name legally changed to SANTA CLAUS (to Room Billiard Players). I had my 1926 Bruns. table re done recently; and I just finished practicing third rail arrivals, with the West Chicago Long Angle. Wow, what a pleasure to see shot after shot right on the money!! A real Christmas present to me and a pleasure to look forward to all year long. Perhaps I'll send him a reindeer or two.

850 enjoyable pages.
The most comprehensive four-volume collection of billiard systems and techniques, ever published.

Outstanding
Having decided to take some classes in electrical engineering, I had been looking for a book that I could use to refresh my knowledge of college physics. I first acquired Halliday's Fundamentals of Physics - a very good book indeed - however, as heavy as any stardand textbook produced in the US. I ended up acquiring Handbook of Physics out of pure curiosity, and to my surprise, it happens to be one of the best science books I have seen in years.

The authors are very successful in compiling every single piece of information on undergraduate physics. The concepts in the book are advanced enough so as not to make you feel as if you were reading some "Physics for Dummies" type of book. That's a perfect combination for people who are looking for practical applications of physical concepts (like engineers) but who already have a quite good grasp on those concepts. The authors also include a little bit of theory not usually found on traditional physics textbooks, such as mechanics of materials.

All in all, it's one of those books you would want to keep forever around. The book has 1000+ pages but interestingly it is not thick or heavy. It easily fits your backpack so that you can read it whenever you read an article about the latest NASA technology on the newspaper.

The best concise Physics book ever?
This is just a great book. In just under 1200 pages the authors manage to describe pretty much all of undergraduate level Physics in clear understandable language, with lots of illustrations and many practical examples and suggestions. For any student of physics (or simply someone interested in the topic) I think this is the most clear and concise book I've seen. A great reference book to keep close at hand, as it includes a fair amount of practical reference material as well.

The mathematical content is unusually well presented with all symbols defined as to units and quantity in a box with each equation, and the SI dimensionality of the result is indicated in each case as well.

The index is excellent.

I think if I could only own one book on Physics that this one might be it.

So he through Becky in the lake, he just wanted to get her clean. But why does everyone in Summit, Alambama (the flattest little town in the south)run when he comes out to play? And what happens when he is kidnapped by the two slick, charming, and unusually kind con-men Sam and Bill Driscoll? Red Chief (or Johnny Dorset by true name) adores them both, which is more than is to be said about their feelings toward him. Bill gets hit by Hurricane Red Chief the hardest. But what happens when they try to collect the ransom leaves them both on the short side of
"The Ransom of Red Chief"!!!!

This book was so funny. I absolutely loved it.
I had to read this last year for my English class, and thought that it was going to be just another lame story like all the other "classics" the public schools make us read. But when I got into it I was pleasently surprized. I couldn't stop laughing. The story is about two men who kidnap the local millionare's heir. But get more than they bargoned for. Instead of a well behaved rich kid they get a wild, red-haired hellion, that insists on playing Indians, and sacres one of his kidnappers so much that they finnally take him back to his father, thinking that they'll just get rid of him then and there. Well, instead of a reward the kid's father says that if they pay him a hundred or so dollars he'll keep his son back for a while and he won't tell the neighbors that they brought him back until nightfall. What happens next will surprize you and make you laugh. It was so much fun to read, I would suggest it to anyone that wants to read something really funny, it'll just make your day.

Wonderful read! Romanipen Vs. State Law
This book was an impulse buy for me, but it has come in very handy with my research into Romani Studies. With multiple articles, some regarding Romanipen Vs. State Law, and others just dealing with the culture itself, it has become required reading in my opinion for anyone interested in learning more about the Romanies.

Absorbing account of turn of the century Morocco
Walter Harris, London Times correspondant and 30 year inhabitant of Tangier, delivers the diffinitive account of pre-protectorate Morocco and the Moroccan Royal Courts. This eyewitness account of an ancient culture coming to grips with an overwhelming Western influence is both absorbing and hillarious to the point of disbelief. Harris' tales of Berber rebels and a matter-of-fact Sultanry, in addition to his coverage of the inevitabile process of European colonialization, captures the loss of innocence which befell a still vital land. A must read for anyone interested in North African history.

"Outcasts" a truly great story.
I had never even heard of Bret Harte before I read this story, and I really enjoyed it. I loved the way that he used language and imagery to vividly portray the people of Poker Flat. The way that John Oakhurst's (the gambler) thoughts are described, as everything relating to a game of cards, was interesting. It really made me feel like I could see all these people- they seem like very real, everyday characters that could be encountered in anyone's life. Harte obviously knows people, and knows how to tell a good story. I would love to read other stories that he's written.

THE TRUE POKER STORY
tnIn my opinion Uncle billy truly steals the scene. It was true inspiration to me. I couldnt wait tot see how it ended . I recommend it to anyone
