Publisher's Comments
This book is a report of the work in progress on the phenomenology of Melanie Klein's concept of Projective Identification, with special reference to Intrusive Identification with Internal objects related to states of masturbatory excitement. This elucidation of the claustraphobic consequences fills out the already extensive literature on yhe identificatory manefestations. By delineating the compartmentalised structure of the interier of the internal mother's body, it is possible through clinical experience, particularly with the play of small children and the dreams of adults, to recognise the qualities of this interier world and to compare the congruence of forms and qualities by which it resembles yet greatly differs from the outside world. The light that this throws on the analytic situation with borderline patients and with adolescents is the main focus of the book, but its relevance for understanding the problems of character in neurotic and normal subjects, its relevance to perversions and addictions, and to attitudes, prejudice and political orientation are also examined.

The Classic Queueing Theory Text
Fundamentals of Queueing Theory (third edition) by D. Gross and C. Harris is THE classic queueing text book. It is up-to-date, thorough, rigorous, intuitive, and even fun to read (for the mathematically inclined). This book can be read at different levels, none of them easy. It is intended for an audience of graduate students in operations research, industrial engineering, management science, or mathematics. There are other excellent queueing books out there, but this has to be the overall best seller! Highly recommended.

new publish
when will come new publish of this book ?

An encyclopedic, reference textbook The gold standard.
There are many excellent textbooks about Internal Medicine on the market, and I own a lot of them. But the Kelley's book is the one I look up more often. It stands out, since it gives you the broadest and deepest clinical coverage of the internal medicine you can find in a two-volumes textbook. The forthcoming 4th edition, which is scheduled for 8/2000 and will be edited by Humes, will expand furter the coverage, reaching an unprecedented range, at least as can be judged by the anticipated index. For the sake of clarity and completeness, each subspecialty (cardiology, endocrinology and metabolism, and so forth) is divided in three parts: the first group of chapters is devoted to the pathophysiologic foundations, the second to diseases and the third to the diagnosis and treatment. This format is clever, because allow you to study each section separately without being overwhelmed by the astonishing amount of information it contains. A lot of chapters are devoted to the approach to the patient with different symptoms, to the interpretation of instrumental data and to the treatment: they are another distictive feature of the book, making it invaluable. If you are a physician or a serious student searching for an authoritative, encyclopedic textbook with broad pathophysiologic coverage and wide sections about the management of the patient, the Kelley's textbook will not disappoint you. For many of us, it is a must buy. For all, it is a bargain. This textbook is the gold standard as Internal Medicine textbook: it got 5-stars from Doody, and as far as I know, it was the only one awarded with such a high acknowledgement. I agree: five stars.

excellent textbook
most comprehensive work ever.an edge over Harrison &Cecil.must buy.

That's how the light gets in : a credo of friendship

Worldwide movement of spiritual friendship within USN, USMC
From the book jacket of That's How the Light Gets In: A quiet movement of spirituality and friendship has taken root in an unexpected place -- among the sailors and Marines and their families around the world. Its name is Credo. Every week, from Naples to Okinawa people of all ages attend Credo retreats to bring focus to their lives in an atmosphere of safety and mutual concern. Credo complements self-help regimens, Twelve Step groups, religious retreats, and psychotherapy, in fostering spiritual rebirth. In recent years Credo has spread to people of all walks of life, including students, people in recovery, homeless, and other seekers. For many, the experience of Credo friendship has been the turning point of their lives. In this book, founder Donald B. Harris recounts Credo's genesis. He describes his chaotic childhood and the loneliness it bred and tells how his exposure to an accepting family, an accidental community, a generous Spanish nobleman, and the writings of a spiritual leader laid the foundation for Credo. The book reveals how Credo uses contemporary music to help even the inarticulate express their inner yearning. The book is a spiritual autobiography of the author's journey to recovery. His involvement with patients flown in from the battlefront of Vietnam as well as refugees from the San Francisco counterculture of the 1960s prepared the soil in which Credo has taken root. That's How the Light Gets In is also an absorbing exploration of the early days of Credo and its evolution in San Diego, Spain, Colorado, and finally Williamsburg. It includes a definition of the underlying philosophy of Credo and a detailed description of the retreat itself, and concludes with a reflection on the course of current American society that makes the Credo response appropriate.

Speed Kills (True Crime (Avon Books).)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Avon Books (Trd) (1998)
Author: Arthur Jay Harris

Intresting read but not fact filled as author claims.
This book is a little bit more accurate than "Blue Thunder" but it is still not all true, nevertheless it is still a good read. I have been in the boat business in south florida for many years and know most of the key figures in the book, therefore I can tell you Mr. Harris's motive for Aronow's death is not accurate. Aronow's killer was never caught.

If this is "Informal", I'd hate to see what "Formal" is.
Instead of actually showing any handy numerical processes used to figure out problems, this book tries to tell you via overly-wordy and remarkably garbled explanations in the middle of "real world" situations gathered from statistics. The authors' idea of "Informal" apparently means burying explanations under useless jargon. If you want to pass a Calculus class and don't already have a talent for mathematics, this is not the book to use. Use something that's straight to the point and ditch the "Informal Approach".
