Excellent book, but missing import parts for Electronics/Com
This is an excellent book for studying advanced math. Important concepts clearly explained with good matlab examples. But I was surprised to find this book titled "Engineering Math" with the miss out of some thing like probability and random variables which are of the critical importance for Electronics/Communications students.

Deserves 6 stars
If you are not already a superuser of MATLAB or a mathematician and want to choose one single book on MATLAB that also brings a solid math base, this is the one. The authors have chosen the subjects very well, with emphasys on the use of mathematical principles coupled with the use of the computing power offered by MATLAB.

In addition to a sound presentation of concepts - without however being extensive (or boring) on theoretical details that probably would not be relevant - this book addresses most areas of University Math (Physical Sciences undergraduate curriculum) with a wealth of good practical programming examples. I specially liked the chapters on Eigenvectors and Eigenvalues, those on Differential equations, Fourier analysis and the simple but very clear and didatic one on Discrete sytems.

In summary, although not a complete text, the subjects addressed in this book are so well presented that it can be forgiven for not covering some areas (like complex variables and calculus of variations, to name only two). There is no waste of pages in this book, but as a suggestion for future enhancement I would mention the inclusion of a chapter dedicated to exploring the graphing power available in MATLAB.

Also as a reference, for most needs you'll probably be able to start doing something productive right away after reading. Well worth its price!

Excellent reference for engineers
This is an excellent reference book not only for matlab, also an excellent reference book for the basic concepts such as Fourier Analysis. I think any engineers who work in electric design filed must have a copy.

This book is very useful for students, scientists and researchers who work dealth with matlab program for their problems in calculations.

In recent year, there has been phenomenal growth in some methods for engineering calculation that use matlab. It's not difficult to study and very simple.

Good guide.
I am involved in the design of a VME CPU card based on this microcontroller.

The basics of the microcontroller and software aspects are well discussed.

Surely a must for those working with this microcontroller.

Worth Getting Before Starting a 68332 Design
This book gives a different look at the 68332. Most of the information is available in Motorola's documents but this is a good cross reference and introduces additional ways of looking at the complicated microprocessor. The book covers the "A" mask and not the "G" Mask as it was written in 1991 maybe before the "G" Mask was available.

Some of the sections give insights into the operation that are not clearly discussed in the Motorola documentation. For this alone I think it is worth purchasing.

Be advised that the hardware development systems shown have been replaced by better equipment since 1991. However the basic processor has not changed and there are insights to be gained by study of this Reference. Many assembly language examples are given throughtout the text.

A brief introduction, certainly not "mastering Simulink"
I have been using Simulink ever since it's born in early 90's. I got this book because I have "Mastering Simulink 2" from the same authors. Few years ago, Simulink official manual is poorly written in the sense that a lot of important information were left out. "Master Simulink 2" was useful then. Starting Matlab 6, MathWorks has put in a big effort to roll out its official manuals, especially on Simulink 4. Therefore, this new book has little value (no more information) on top of the existing manuals.

This book has a few nontrivial c-mex file examples that are pretty much the only useful pages I can get some benefits from. The official manual "Writing S-Function" covers a lot more detailed materials to show user how to write c-mex, Fortran-mex, Ada-mex files with Simulink, which is the essence of building any real world design applicaiton. The book did not talk about Simulink Performance Tools, which is a very useful side product to work with Simulink.

Overall, for any beginner who can not access the official MATLAB 6/Simulink 4 manuals, this book is a good choice to solve some simple "textbook" problems. But I doubt anyone can learn much from this book to accomplish serious, pratical, and real-world design applications.

Not an easy book for beginners!
This was the book our professor recommended for my first course in assembly language programming for the Motorola 68000 microprocessor. I don't think this book is very suitable for an introduction. I found it heavy going, at first. If I had more experience think I think it may have been OK.

Instead I found myself referring to the books on the 68000 by Alan Clements and the other book by James Antonakas. I found these texts very clear and worthwhile; written in a style better tailored for beginners.
