Endless Laughs
This book rocks. It is so funny! It's one of those books that you could read over and over again and never get tired of. It will crack you up every time. And it's a great book just to keep out in the living room somewhere so that when people come over they can start reading the "thoughts" out loud for everyone to laugh at. The thoughts are things like: "They say that God lives inside us. Well, I hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting!" If you need some more laughs in your life, this book could help you with that.

The book is hilarious.
I've been suffering from clinical depression, and a fellow patient lent me a copy of this book. From the very first page I was laughing out loud -- and I kept on laughing all the way through. It had been a long time since I had really laughed at anything, but this book really did the trick. I think you have to have a penchant for a certain kind of humor to enjoy the book. I could imagine some people not "getting it", so to speak, or finding it just plain silly. But for me, it really hit the funny bone, and I know it has for others, too. Buy it! It's only a few bucks, and the laughs you might get from it far outweigh the risk of wasting your money.

Buy it now, please
This is probably the funniest book I've ever read. I laughed out loud at most of them. If you have a short attention span like me, buy this book, its great.

I laughed, I cried, I was inspired
Okay, I didn't cry except when I was laughing hard -and I wasn't particularly inspired, but it's still a good read. Some of the stuff is so off the wall - yet it's vaguely reminescent of folks I know. Jack Handey is up to his old tricks, inspiring the masses with his strange twists and if you liked his other books, you'll like this one.

Listen to me because I am smart
If you want to laugh, and I mean laugh out loud...read this book. But don't buy it. Thats stupid. Just go onto the internet and search for the thoughts themselves.

See ya around eight.

Very Good
If you like the others, or just want a good laugh, I would recommend this book.

Disneyland burned down...
When I was a kid, my friend's parents watched a bit too much SNL. They saw the Deep Thought about a parent telling their child that they were going to Disneyland, and then taking the child to a burned out field and telling him that Disneyland burned down. They thought it would be fun to try that in real life.

That was my intro to Jack Handey's Deep Thoughts. Funny as that little stunt was NOT when I was six, I look back on it now and laugh (I don't know if my childhood friend feels the same -- she got pregnant at 16 and ran off with a motorcycle gang...wonder if that's a "blame the parents" situation). Anyway, we used to tape SNL just to play back the Deep Thoughts and crack up. Jack Handey's work has gone slightly downhill with the advent of "Fuzzy Memories" and "My Big Thick Novel," but this stuff is classic. Type some of them up and hang them around your desk if you work in one of those joyless, laugh-free places -- they're guaranteed to induce a chuckle from even the most stoic. And, you'll have something to smile at the next time the British Monarchs make some kind of appearance, when you remember "Like jewels in a crown, the precious stones glittered in the queen's round metal hat."

Funniest Man ever....
enough said, jack handey is a genius, what else could you want?!

Handey makes you laugh AND think(or the other way around)
Modern "philosophizer" and Saturday Night Live scribe Jack Handey's second installment in the Deep Thoughts series falls short of the author's own criteria for literary greatness ("at the very end, there's a page you can lick and it tastes like Kool-Aid" says Handey of the ideal novel), but it is nonetheless a consistently funny collection of a unique brand of humor. Handey's offbeat musings, familiar to viewers of early 1990's SNL, are somewhat more sophisticated than fortune cookies, much more readable than Nietsche or Chomsky, and funnier than all of the above. The book contains close to 100 Deep Thoughts, ranging from some which provoke a thoughtful chuckle to others which will have you laughing out loud before you even finish reading them.

If you are a Handey fan, chances are you already have this book. If you are unfamiliar with Deep Thoughts, I recommend you check out this book for a simple but hearty laugh - it is a nice contrast to the political satire, funny golf books and comic strip collections that dominate humor publishing. For as Handey says, "Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis."

In short, it's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more books by Jack Handey. And I guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, wanting those books.

As the title suggests, this is the "leftovers"...
Jack Handey got a lot of mileage out of his "Deep Thoughts" series, but I think the word "rejected" would be more fitting than "lost" for this fourth volume. I don't want to suggest that it's bad by any means, but it's definitely the most hit-and-miss of the series. Some of the passages are classic Jack Handey ("Toward the end of the Stone Age, I bet there was already a feeling that metal was just around the corner."), but many of them are downright lame ("Life is a constant battle between the heart and the brain. But guess who wins. The skeleton."). If you've got the other three volumes, this one is absolutely essential, but if you're a newbie, don't start here. Pick up "Deep Thoughts", "Deeper Thoughts", and "Deepest Thoughts".

Get lost in "The Lost Deep Thoughts"
I happen to like the "Deep Thoughts" seiries, so of course I like this one. Jack's way of turning a situation into a psychobabble feel good statement is hilarious and the pairing of the nature photographs reminds me of those dumb motivational posters at work - you know, the one where it's a photograph of an eagle flying over a canyon and it says something such as "Strive with all your being to fly as the eagle does fly and makes more widgets for our company to make huge profits from" or some nonsense like that. (Okay, the signs _don't_ say the widget thing.)

It's vaguely comforting to read this book, to know that Jack's still out there (in more ways than one!) pondering his "deep thoughts" and sharing them with us. If you enjoyed the other books, you'll want this book.

Jack Attack!
This was a great book and a must have for all 'deep thoughts' fans. His insight can be considered literary genius. I can say my favorite is talking about his childhood friend Chris and the adventure with the ice cream in Chicago - classic! (you will have to read the book yourself to find out the ending)
