A Reminder of How to lead our lives
This book reminded me that life isn't about the rat race. It is good to stop and take the time to appreciate those around you, to take in the energy that helps you through each day and to share the positive attitude you generate from a peaceful state of mind with others. I highly recommend this book for anyone in search of a little rest for the soul. It's an easy read with great suggestions about how to go within yourself to find peace rather than searching for it from others.

For all wishing to find inner peace and healing: a must read
Pat Upczak takes us through the steps of the Reiki process, but in so doing, she has also opened the doors and windows to her own life. Pat practices and shares with her readers the lifestyle she ahderes to and the spirituality she espouses. This book is not only a guideline, but also an insight into a master Reiki practitioner. It is an inspiration and a beacon for all.

Boba Meets Banking Clan
This is a must read for Boba Fett fans and regular Jedi freaks alike. It is the best of all the Star Wars books for young readers. The only bad thing about it is there wasn't much Slave 1 action. Boba sure shows Aurra Sing in this one

Boba Meets Banking Clan
This is te best of all the Young Fett Books, clearly a five star read. The only thing that disquists me is that it didn't show much of Slave 1. Howevver, to enyoy this book you must read Fight to Survive and Crossfire first. A must read for Boba Fett fans and Bounty Hunter wannabes alike.

THE book to understand what's going on
When we were having babies we had a small library of books on pregnancy and childbirth. All three of our children were born at home and this was THE book we devoured. It explained everything a lay person needs to know. It was perfect for us.

Oh, yeah. My wife agrees :-)

Too bad it's no longer in print. I don't know how her new book is. We don't do babies anymore. Our youngest wears size 11 1/2 shoes.

One of the best book I have ever read
This story is not only about love, but honestly and integrity as well. No mater how deep in love a couple are, if their basic principle are opposite, the relationship won't survive. Especially at the scene when the couple are about to make love, the woman thinks it is not right to have a baby, physically they are so close, but the situation is so helpless; it is very moving. I really love this book. I highly recommend it.

An Instrument in God's Hand
This book was given to my husband, who happens to be a physician, by one of his patients. He brought it home and I couldn't wait to read it since I've personally experienced eye problems. I found the book inspirational, informative, interesting and very well written. It's obvious the author has a sincere compassion for the people of China as well as people in need everywhere. The photos added so much, bringing her words to life. I would highly recommend this book to every person practicing medicine. My husband just finished reading Dr. Vaughn's book and agrees with me. I plan to purchase copies to send as gifts to several of my husband's colleagues in the medical profession. As a lay-person, I admire Dr.Vaughn's tenacity and genuine concern for people. I think we can all be encouraged by what she was able to accomplish through the Grace of God. No matter who you are, where you live, or what you do, God is able to use each and every one of us as an instrument in His Hand if we're only willing. I applaude Dr. Vaughn for what she has been able to accomplish for the people of China. She has touched the lives of many...including mine! Pam Mycoskie

Amazingly helpful!
This *textbook* is awesome. There is so much information in here, do not borrow this book from your library! Purchasing this wonderfully helpful book is the only way to go. You won't be sorry! There are so many pictures, drawings and exemplary descriptions to assist you in your lifetime learning of this 'calling' - midwifery care and assistance.

If you're a doula - you want this book. If you're a childbirth educator - you want this book. If you're an aspiring midwife of any kind - you want this book. If you're a mother, a grandmother, an expectant parent, or a natural childbirth advocate - you too, want this book!

Guiding you through prenatal care, problems during pregnancy, the birth process, complications during labor, postpartum care for mothers and babies - this guide will last many, many lifetimes over. Included also, is information about becoming a midwife, and even setting up your own practice - or finding the right careeer route for yourself.

This is a timeless piece of artwork! Enjoy!

A Beautiful book promoting the essence of Midwifery
This tender book has given me, as a student Nurse-Midwife, a precious insight to the essence of Midwifery that has gotten lost for some. In the midst of Midwifery school where details on the hows of birth are heavily concentrated on I pick up this book when I need to 'feel' that deep-seeded passion that Midwives have for their careers and their precious patients. The text is simply written, but also complex in its coverage of many aspects of birth. Ms. Davis does a fantastic job giving an explanation to the psychological and mystical events surrounding birth. Thank goodness that this sister Midwife shares her insight and experience with those of us who are doing everything we can to learn this challenging information.

A wonderful volume bridging professionals and mothers
Elizabeth Davis has produced a beautifully laid out and well-written book on the both the mystery of birth as well as the concrete practice of birthing. Covering all aspects of prenatal care, birth, and postnatal care, this is an excellent work for both professional and expectant parent. Expectant parents should be aware, however, that Davis responsibly addresses the many possible complications of birth from a professional standpoint - information that might inform one future parent while alarming another - so parents should use their self-knowledge to determine whether they wish to read those parts.

This work would also be invaluable for the professional midwife interested in mentoring students or for the future midwife wanting an overview of midwifery practice and information on entering the profession. Extensive resources and bibliographies are presented. Highly recommended.

Winterlong 2 it is not.
If you are looking for a sequel to Winterlong, you will be dissapointed. This book is more like a companion, but it is beautiful in its own right. Sheds more light on the world that Winterlong gave so many tantalizing little hints about, while at the same time, almost seeming to create another world within that one.

It's a far out comparison, but some of Hand's sci-fi images and concepts remind me of Cordwainer Smith (if you don't know him you should!)

ELIZABETH HAND DOES IT AGAIN!
Elizabeth Hand has done it again! She has created a profoundly disturbing, beautifully written masterpeice. Like it's predecessor WINTERLONG Ms. hand has taken what could have been nothing more than a dime store sci-fi novel and turned into a rich, well crafted, stunningly beautiful epic. This isn't so much a science fiction novel as it is a sweeping tale filled with deeply felt characters and lush prose. I would reccomend this book to anyone.

A beautiful, startling book
Elizabeth Hand's immaculate use of the English language to portray a world in disharmony and upheaval is as beautiful as it is disturbing. This book will haunt you years after you read it. Highly recommended.

Interesting Plot
Holding true to the X-Files tradition, this addition to the series presents another creepy mystery that entail the services of Agents Mulder and Scully. A mysterious and ghoulishly disfigured corpse amid the charred husks of a federal genetics laboratory sends the two headlong into the Oregonian hills looking for information. Eventually the two realizes that the 'miracle cure' engineered within the sterile facade of the laboratory is far different than any simple pharmaceutical concoction, but a new kind of nanorobotic creation that holds the promise to heal and cure any illness. The race is then on, against both time and others who would stop at nothing to procure this new technology for themselves.

The pace of the book is reasonably fast, combining the slow intrigue of the unfolding mystery with the action that precipitates from the multiple, simultaneously occuring events. The settings are described well. The various locations are given believable surroundings and support the plot movement. Dialogs are well done and reflect upon the TV characters. It is not a difficult task to imagine the agents speaking the lines in the book, making the story flowing smoother.

The only drawback is the lack of description for the 'hostile party'. The people that Mulder and Scully race against only come into play late in the book, and are only sporadically described with haste. Perhaps this is to add a layer of mystery to the book but it fails to achieve much. Instead the agents are pitted against this well-equipped, yet characteristically impotent party. Not a particularly interesting match-up.

This book is worth reading, at least the first half. It's especially interesting to visualize the developments. Overall, it's an energetic addition to the X-Files family, even if its villains do not live up to their typical cunning and resourcefulness.

Antibodies- The X-Files
Kevin J. Anderson is the author of the book that I read called "Antibodies." This book is about a diseased-ravaged body found in a federally funded lab called Dy Mar genetic research lab. Dr. David Kennessy is a cancer researcher at Dy Mar, and was experimenting on a dangerous microscopic bio-machine that could cure any disease, but the real reason for experimenting is to save his leukemia-stricken son. Agent Fox Mulder and agent Dana Scully from the F.B.I were brought to the case. Scully fights to save the life of an innocent boy while Mulder fights a diseased-stricken man with a slightest touch brings agonizing death. Anderson did a great job of describing the details of the book so you could easily follow what was going on. Anderson's book was great from the second chapter on, when the building was burnt down with the person with the virus still inside the building. Kevin J. Anderson shows a lot of characterization when Mulder and Scully were introduced in the third chapter. Anderson also injected Mulder's sarcasm into the dialogue more than the TV series. In the TV series Scully's fight with cancer is used as a motivating factor in the novel. Overall I think that this novel had an interesting plot, a wonderful storyline, and was well written. Even if you're not a fan of The X-Files like me, it still makes for an interesting read.

Entertaining
The subject matter here more appropriately should reside in the realm of science fiction, but here we are, taking a technology that will someday help billions of people, and complicating it with conspiracies and paronoia. But what else would a person expect, as this is THE X FILES and a lot of rationality is out the door anyway: give the audience what they want, mind-numbing entertainment. Regardless of this, the novel here is nevertheless well worth reading as it introduces the new science of nanotechnology to many people who have never heard of it before. The story is actually very well done in spite of it's sensationalism and exaggerations, with Mulder and Scully investigating the explosive destruction of a cancer research lab under mysterious circumstances. The plot developes superbly from there and is quite good to the end. However, if you desire to learn more about nanotechnology and what it can mean to you personally, read THE FIRST IMMORTAL by James Halperin, this is informed and well-thought-out science fiction, probably eventually to become science-fact in the decades to come.

Good recap of the movie but writing quality is TERRIBLE!
I have not read the whole book yet, but I was anxious to let people know that IF you read *real* books (not just novelizations of movies like this) be FOREWARNED! The writing is sub-par, complete with sentence fragments, weird diction, and hackneyed descriptive passages. Like Grisham novels, though, the story itself -- leaving the writing out if the discussion -- is interesting. A page-turner. This book is helpful if you had trouble figuring out what was going on. Don't expect Norman Mailer or Maya Angelou though.

Trust no one...when they want to see the book
I've only got to Chapter 5, but it is an AWESOME book! It is full of action and mystery, and some parts are confusing. It's great for all you X-philes out there. I want to read the book first so I know what is going on in the movie, cause sometimes I get mixed up in the movies. A must have for every X-Phile's shelf. The truth is out there...in the book.

THE GREATEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the greatest books I've ever read. This is the greatest book for X-Files fans and fans of the movie. I would definitely buy this book if you are an X-Files fan who wants the inside look at the plot of the movie. THE TRUTH OF SAMANTHA IS REVIELED IN THE BOOK BUT NOT IN THE MOVIE BECAUSE IT GOT CUT. See the movie then read the book and you'll know what i mean!!!!
