Excellent Undergraduate Book
This is a very clearly written book with good examples and problems covering a wide range of topics. Especially good for self study.

rigorous but complete
I used this book to study for the AP Physics C exam and it was quite a daunting task. I supplemented my reading with a Princeton Review study guide for physics B and C though, and I found it was the perfect combination: the Halliday/Resnick text gave me the details, and the Princeton Review put it in English for me. I feel prepared for the exam, either way.

a useful book
I've the same book but a french one, it is the most useful book a reptiles' lover must have. It is simple to read, to understand. There's a good introduction to reptiles classifications (which is not obvious for begginers), the "identity card" for each animal is well conceived.
A good book to bring for travelling.

One great book.
Like all the books in this series "Reptiles and Amphibians" gives a species by species look at a huge variety of creatures. From Chameleons to Cobras this book has a great selection. There are not many field guides out there with such fantastic and detailed photos so I suggest it for anyone who loves the to some "unlovable" slimy or scaly creatures of our world.

Good self-study book
It is a shame that this book is out of print. If you want to learn the special theory of relativity but can't or don't have the time to take a course in it, then this is a very good book to consult. Just about everything in here is easy to follow. I picked up concepts very quickly using this book, when I used it for self study a few years back. The only part that I would change, is that I would add on a section on electrodynamics and relativity.

A remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets
The Franconia, New Hampshire, farm of the American poet Robert Frost was turned into a museum and center for poetry and the arts in 1976. From that time, "The Frost Place" has been annual event wherein an emerging poet has been invited to spend the summer living in the house where Frost once lived and wrote some of his greatest poetry. The Breath Of Parted Lips: Voices From The Robert Frost Place, Volume One is a remarkable anthology of twenty-four poets, each of whom won that honor of a summer's residency and document the success of the original concept as a means of generating outstanding poetry while nurturing the poet's muse in the rooms and views that were once the inspiration of the great Robert Frost. Poem At 40: Windwashed--as if standing next to the highway,/a truck long as the century sweeping by,/all things at last bent in the same direction./An opening, as if all/the clothes my ancestors ever wore/dry on lines in my body:/wind-whipped, parallel with the ground,/some sleeves sharing a single clothespin/so that they seem to clasp hands,/seem to hold on.//And now that I can see/up the old women's dresses,/there's nothing but a filtered light./And now that their men's smoky breath/has traversed the earth,/it has nothing to do with them./And now that awkward, fat tears of rain/slap the window screen,/now that I'm naked too,/cupping my genitals, tracing with a pencil/the blue vein between my collar bone and breast,/I'll go to sleep when I'm told.

David Halliday, Robert Resnick, and Jearl Walker wrote it. And the publisher is John Wiley & Sons.

Great Book..
"Fundamentals of physics extended" is a great book. It makes physics easy to understand with detailed graphs and diagrams. It not only tells students how physics work. It shows them not only does it explain and prove ocncepts to students, it also helps student's to establish a connection between conceptual theories and applications. I is a must for anyone who is interested in phisics. I'd give it 5 stars!

Great text
I have to say that I had very little exposure to physics before I took the class that required this book. When I didn't understand anything in class (and that was often) I read the book and I found it to be the most readable text on PHYSICS of all things! The authors are GREAT at explaining things, and for students who have to buy this for a class or teachers who are thinking of using it, this is an AWESOME text.... It's really readable (and funny in a bunch of places) and explains the concepts really well. Or at least I understood them w/out having any extra help from teachers, class, or TA's.

Beautifully Illustrated Book!
I am a third grade teacher and the study of Native Americans is part of our History/Social Studies curriculum. Every third grade teacher at my school has purchased this book with their own money to use when teaching this topic. It is beautifully illustrated and contains lots of colorful photographs. It contains interesting facts and information about different Native American tribes and their customs, from totem poles and tipis to wedding ceremonies and canoe-building. My students really enjoy reading it and looking at the pictures. I highly recommend it for those of you who have an interest in Native American culture, artwork and customs.

The CD ROM will not work
Obviously this is one of the best texts in physics and I was enjoying the text and the CD ROM that goes with it - - it costs extra to get it that way. Soft key takes about $40 and gives you a password so CD ROM access is possible. That is fine until you switch computers or have to go through a reformatting of the hard drive. And guess what? Soft key is no longer in business and the old password, obviously, does not work.

As for Wiley (great name for them, come to think of it) try getting them to help the poor customer who needs support. They ignore all requests for help with this problem. My emails to Wiley showed the principle of the black hole. The emails went in and nother ever emerged.

My recommendation? Stay away from this one unless the CD ROM is not an issue. Other than that the book is splendid as always. A classic, relatively speaking.

Fundamentals of Physics
Great service. Book arrived when stated. Book condition exactly as described. Would purchase again from this person. Great transaction

The Classic Text
This is the classic text for fundamentals of physics. It has been translated to many different languages and is absolutely proven to be the best. However if you get the earlier editions you will find some more challenging problems that have been omitted in this edition. The students who want to gain a solid foundation in fundamental of physics or want to prepare for physics contests must work through this book carefully in an earlier stage of their physics education (end of high school or freshman year).

I read this book (the two volume series) when I was in grades 11 and 12 and through college even, I am getting benefits from the intuitions and core concepts that I gained from this book. Try to get the solution manual but try not to use it unless you really don't know what to do (some problems are a bit of a challenge :)

simply excellent
This textbook is excellent. It has an in-depth theory part, that explains everything!!! and it also has lots of challenging exercises and problems. I strongly recommend it for Engineering and Science undergraduates.

The defintive textbook on the subject
I used this text for my undergraduate freshman year physics course. This was a recommended text and pretty soon I found out why it was popular with students. I have come across few books with such clarity and depth as this one.

The way the material was presented, and the way the ideas were pushed through as well as the pace was as if this book was written with someone like me in mind.

An indispensable book for any physics student...

Excellent textbook in physics
As a holder of physics degree and I used to teach physics in high school, I have many textbook in physics. I found this book is the best one explaining the concept of physics. The examples and the solved problems cover most of the principals and concept of the explained material. If you're a beginner just pay more attention to what is the book said and you will increase your skills and ability to understand physics. If you use the book as a reference in my opinion this is the best textbook in introductory physics courses you can get.
