An excellent resource
I have quite a bit of experience in the study of Classical civilization, and I have yet to find a better source for information on Greek and Roman mythology. I think this book is a necessity for anyone wishing to learn more about ancient religion or to anyone who needs a reliable reference for this subject.

Great introduction to the topic
Everyone should own a copy of this book. It is the best sophisitcated introduction to classical mythology that is out there, and is filled with useful illustrations.

Great Beginner Book
Morford and Lenardon set out to write a pretty comprehensive mythology text for those just starting a study of the subject and I think they've done a fantastic job. The most recent edition features tons of artwork and brings recent research in classical mythology and archaeology into the discussion. Also, the book is written in a highly engaging style that draws the reader in. You tend to forget you're reading a textbook. My only complaint was that I didn't feel some gods and goddesses were really covered. However, they were usually minor characters in Greek myth, so don't let that deter you from this book. It's worth the price!

A book worth reading!
I really like this book. It is fun to read and keeps you intrigued all the way. The story is pretty good, a combination of adventure and mystery. This is one of the good ones. Buy it, it won't be a disappointment.

Don't let the cover fool you, this book is pretty good.
I suppose I read this because the author is my English teacher, so I read it out of respect for her. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was pretty good! It's fun and intresting and from begining to end, and I never got bored. The story is intriging and imaginitive, and some unexpected things happen in the book. The characters are very well developed and you can tell what each is like, and what they do in the book is natural. Overall this is one of the better books I've read, and I reccomend you read it. A great book read it or beat it!

You will never walk around your house the same again!
This book is a great read from start to finish. You think you have it all figured out and then you don't. The characters are fun and easy to relate to; you will find yourself in one of them! I definitly would recommend this to friends and family. Any child or adult will have fun with this book. Read this book and your extended family reunions will be a whole lot more entertaining! Enjoy and happy reading...oh and don't forget your garlic.

Ghost?
I really like H.R.F.Keating, and can hardly believe he wrote this book. I couldn't even finish it. "Doctor Smellyfeet"? "Mr. Man"? Was that supposed to be funny? The "Stop the Rot" campaign? This one had to be to see if we were paying attention. Ugh!

too harsh a protagonist, feels stereotypical
Her loathing of criminals is so intense that the criminalelement calls her THE HARD DETECTIVE. Deputy Chief Inspector HarrietMartenns is in charge of the "Stop the Rot" campaigndesigned to get all criminals, even those committing petty crimes off the streets. She carries out her assignment with a zeal that at times can be frightening...

THE HARD DETECTIVE is not an easy character to like because Harriet expects perfection at all costs, which makes her seem unbearable and intolerant. Superintendent Martens behaves more like a crime fighting caricature than a human being. Though the serial killer story line will hold interest of die-hard sub-genre fans, other readers will prefer some of the marvelous other works by H.R.F. Keating.

Harriet Klausner

Hard Justice
Harriet Martin is the hard detective--she is always sure she's right. In THE HARD DETECTIVE, she faces a criminal who is even harder and even more certain about justice. The criminal is exacting the justice from Exodus--a life for a life, an eye for an eye, etc. on the police force of Birchester (England). Somehow Harriet must track down the killer before the police department is decimated. Yet can she do so and remain the Hard Detective?

H. R. F. Keating has written a book that will intrigue the reader both through its subject matter and through the interesting differences between police procedures in the U.S. and in Britain. Harriet grows as a character, starting off harsh, yet becoming more human when faced with the logical consequences of her own belief structures. Initially she finds the justice of 'an eye for an eye' appealing.
