ADSI ASP Programmer's Reference

Good Book for first ADSI programming
This book is excellent for programmer who want to admin nt server by most easy way. Step by step way is good to understand ADSI but there are some loose of base line of ADSI what it is.

An excellent tutorial for using ADSI with ASP
ADSI ASP Programmer's Reference covers all the basic capabilities of ADSI. It also ties in those with working examples that tie to Exchange (LDAP), IIS, and WinNT. The numerous examples are well explained and clear. Most of the information is available from Internet sources, but ADSI ASP Programmer's Reference brings all that information in to a convenient book. A definite must have for starting and intermediate ADSI programmers.

Excellent Introduction to ADSI programming for NT Admins
I was under the mistaken impression that ADSI requires Active Directory Service to run. It doesn't. This book will show you how to do network, IIS, and LDAP admin tasks using the ADSI objects. It is a great, easy to follow introduction to ADSI programming.

Don't let the ASP part throw you off. He uses ASP/VBScript for the sample code, but you can modify the code to work under anything that will instantiate COM components.

One warning: Readers who are not familiar with some form of VB programming should get one of the other WROX books first because this is *not* a tutorial on how to write scripts.

You might like the book
I would be unfair to say that the 883 pages were a total waste, but it wasn't worth it for me.

The title of the Book is "ASP XML", and from this title I choose this book, because I wanted a book that would help me to use XML in ASP. That wasn't the case in some of the book examples.

The book content (without the case study) is only 15 chapter that spans 366 pages covering all different aspects of XML and XML integration of ASP. The information presented is very basic and lacks basic knowledge of XML, for example XSL was covered very poorly in the book ( MSDN was more helpful to me than the book). Chapter 11 through 14 were very useful though, especially chapter 14 that covers useful XML procedure libraries.

The case studies spans around 180 pages, there are 6 case studies. They were very confusing to me and none of them helped me solving any of the business requirements I was tackling.

The rest of the book contains appendices that are useful to have them all in the same book, but you can get them over the Internet for free.

Last word to say is that I was disappointed with this book.

Excellent Book For ASP Developers to implement XML in ASP
The chapters are laid out properly and are easy to understand. It helped us to learn a great deal about incorporating XML into ASP.We recommend this book to anyone who wants to further expand their knowledge of XML in ASP.The authors did a really good job on explaing XML for ASP developers. The depth explainations of the case studies & examples and XML are really great and relate to real world examples. The chapter explaining about the SOAP is really good which helped us a lot personally to implement an in my current project . We personally thank Dinar Dalvi for his help and support to answer our questions and immediate feedback for our emails.

Best for Programmers to implement XML in ASP
Excellent! for ones who are pro to ASP and need to intergrate XML with ASP! A must buy!

revised opinion!
I wrote a review after I had gone through a few chapters, and I said there were "some" math errors... there are at least 50 critical math errors, including errors in the tables of trig integrals you're told to memorize. Don't buy this edition!

A complete and utter disappointment
There is no excuse for the amount of errors in this book. Teaching/Learning from it is impossible because many of the examples, explanations, and answers in the back are dead wrong. I strongly urge any student seeking calculus help to use a real textbook.

absolutely the best
This book makes every step clear and simple, and understandable. Whereas other books tell you what to do, this book helps you understand WHY. I'm taking calc for a pre-MBA class, and we're covering a full semester in ten weeks. Even though we are breezing through chapters at a time, this book makes learning the math more than possible.
