FUTUREDOC
I have been through most of the test preperation books in the market, but this I was very optimistic upon coming to this book. The book itself is not written in a "user-friendly" manner, and the best parts of this book are the 3,500 word vocab list. The math section is very comprehensive, however, the questions are a lot harder than those found on the SAT, which eventually starts to discourage you. I verbal review sections are practically useless, and the strategies do not work. Once again, buy this book only for the vocabulary list, and then move on to some other book (such as kaplan, etc...). This list will give you the foundation to answer analogies and sentencecompletions but nothing more...

The practice tests are quite useless, and are much harder than that found on the real SAT...

Good luck on you test preperation

Should be Required Reading for Every High School Student
With my SAT score using this book, I have gotten into schools I didn't think I had a chance of getting into. I have learned more from this book than I have learned in all my high school years. And I find I am even able to use the strategies and techniques in my coursework. I was grabbed by how exciting and interesting Gruber makes the material for the reader. And when you take the practice tests you can easily learn from any mistakes because the tests are all keyed to some great learning material. But don't take my word for this--all you have to do is pick up the book and see how studying for this SAT test can be so enjoyable and give you results you never dreamed of. Thank you, Dr. Gruber for such a great book--Your work should be required reading for everybody!

Best SAT book out there
This is one of the best SAT review books on the market. I learned over 2000 new words with the help of this book. I also went through many of the math problems and realized that I had no mathematical abilities whatsoever. I studied the strategies and explanations and got better. I didn't get a chance to go through much of the book so I wasn't expecting great scores. I took the PSATs hoping for a 1350. Instead, I got a 1440. I have also taken the SATs twice. My highest combined is a 1490. Not Ivy League material but much more than I had hoped for. I will study the Gruber book in depth over the summer and take the SATs for a third time in the fall. I recommend this book to everyone. Give yourself at least two to three months to study though. It is a very thick book.

Excellent book, but this is an older version
This is the best, most solid SAT-prep out there, and is more thorough than any other book out there. It's a great choice to help you guys reach your full potential on the SAT, but you should be aware that there's a newer edition available, so check that out first.

I'm a professional SAT-prep instructor, and I like this book because it teaches all the little tricks that you need to know to raise your score, AND it gives you all the background stuff you'll need to know to do well on your test, e.g., a comprehensive math review, thousands of words that are likely to appear on the test, etc.

Without a doubt the best SAT-prep book on the market.

The Road to A Fabulous SAT score
Thank you, Dr. Gruber for your fantastic book. Each time I took a test in your book I improved my score on the next one, using your great instructional material and strategies. The first test I took in your book, without any of your preparation or advice, I got 950 which is about what I got on my actual SAT at that time. After reading your specific advice on how to improve after each test, I increased my score steadily on each upcoming tests in your book. By the time I got to the last test in your book, I scored 1520. Before taking the actual SAT I brushed up again using the information in your book and got 1580 on the actual SAT-only 20 points shy of a perfect SAT score! I am convinced I could not achieved such a great final score and going from a 950 to the 1580 without your book.

The Most Complete SAT Prep Book
I have tried Kaplan, Princeton Review, Arco and Barrons, and this is the best one yet. Even though it has strategies, they aren't things like "if question is like this, pick C" kind of things--they're the sure way to get answers right. That's more important, I feel--learning to get answers right the intellectual way than using gimmicks and tricks like the Kaplan and Princeton Rewiew folks teach you.

Tons of practice, refreshing almost everything you need from Math (lacking High Logic and Pattern problems and how to attack them).

Only thing I have a problem with is that I think the Verbal section lacks a little "substance". I have trouble with Critical Reading passages, and even though he touches more in the verbal section on Critical Reading, I feel that it helped me less or nothing.

Other than the verbal Critical Reading section, everything is great!
