A great story
This was one of the better books that I have read in a long time. "Evil Stalks the Night" is easy to get into and it was a true page turner from the start. The characters are very real which makes the reader immediately feel for the trials and tribulations that they go through in the book. While the book was deeply chilling and scary, the author did not need to rely on blood and guts to scare the reader like other authors do. Kathryn Meyer Griffith has a wonderful use of the English language which allows her to achieve success at pleasantly chilling the readers. Moreover, the ending of the book is extremely thought provoking. I was entirely amazed at the ending. Everything made sense, questions were answered and I was not at all left disappointed with the last page. This book is definitely an MRA --a must read again. Its too bad that she did not write more novels.

What a Hidden Treasure
I got this book at a garage sale, and boy am I glad I did. A wonderful work of historical fiction based in what could have been reality. This novel is full of romance, as well as heartbreak as the main character struggles to keepher family together. The ending left a little to be wished for in my eyes, but life usually does.

This is the book you are looking for . . .
With jobs so scarce lately, I thought I'd spend my time reviewing basic skills while I waited for the phone to ring. One of the skills employers and agencies test for admin jobs is spelling. When jobs are plentiful, who cares. I get 100% on word processing tests; I know how to use spell check. Since I have to compete for a limited number of jobs, I got serious about each test.

This book starts with a mammoth list of commonly misspelled words. It's great as a reference. Skip to the chapters with the rules. I did a read through followed by a close reading of the first three rules chapters. I got 100% on a computerized spelling test for business and legal terms today -- which didn't include the obvious words like mortgage, committee, bookkeeping, and government. I know I would have gotten several of the test words wrong if I hadn't reviewed this book.

My next purchase in this series will be Business Mathematics the Easy Way.

Well-researched horror novel
Kathryn Meyer Griffith, author of six published horror titles, did an excellent job researching the characters and era involved in her horror novel "The Calling". The Egyptian characters mentioned in the novel actually existed, with only minor differences in the spelling of some names. The lineage described was also pretty much true to form.

The novel revolves around a middle-aged woman who has been haunted by visions all her life. The visions are of an Egyptian queen who died over 3,000 year ago. The spectre asks her to help her to uncover the mystery of the deaths of her family and reveal the truth to the world. Then, the spirits of the dead that are caught in pergatory can finally achieve peace.

The novel is well-written and rarely drags for more than a few pages. The beginning is a bit slow, but once things get started (the appearance of the evil ghosts), it continues non-stop through the entirety of the novel. The ending is a bit of a letdown... however, the book does imply that it was completed. Overall, it's a good horror novel that will keep readers of horror fiction entertained.

Spellbinding, Gripping, Intriguing w/historical facts.
Not only is "The Calling" ripe with Egyptian historical facts, it holds something for everyone -- from daily events we can all identify with, to romance, intrigue, mystery, and a touch of the occult. It is a spellbinding tale of a venture into unknown dimensions of time and the consequences of that voyage. THE CALLING really held my interest and I burned a lot of midnight oil. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.

You Can Live Without It, and Much Better.
The author is quite repetitive (how many times do we have to bear her good/bad witches definition throughout the book, and so very poorly explained?). Often Kathryn Meyer Griffith falls in contraddiction describing the characters (once she describe one as short, later as tall), or describing their qualities (now the character, as a witch, is hungry and tired, and later the author declares the main character is feeling for the first time such things like hunger or tiredness, which she'd never experinced before thanks to her former powers). And so on.
The quality of the language is not very professional, and I felt like reading a love story booklet, rather than a horror/thriller book.
2 stars instead of 1, just cause the author took the effort to spend some time writing the book, and frankly I'm surprised she wrote more.

Witches
The author of the book does a good job with grabbing your attention initially upon reading the book. Chraracters are well developed and most references appropriately made. The only let down comes with the conclusion of the book. If you are an avid reader of horror novels, you come to expect a climatic show down of the "Good-vs-Evil" theme. ... Overall, a good book to read to help the time go pass. Oh yeah, pregnancy from a man that lived over three hundred years ago, to be born in our era is a stretch, even for horror readers! If that is the case, Amanda could have easily brought Joshua into our era.

Needs Research
The fantasy element is a great read in this book. I would prefer that the author do more research on Witchcraft as there a many elements in regards to the belief system of Witchcraft that are incorrect. ie: Witches do not believe in Satan and therefore the concept in the book of a Heaven and Hell are irrelevant. These are Christians concepts. She also uses the term Warlock for the male witch in her book...Warlock means "Oathbreaker"...a male witch is called a "Witch" the same as a female. The author has the beginnings of what could be a great fantasy series with some tangible research.

awful, awful, awful
i just finished reading this book called vampire blood by kathryn meyer griffith. anyone read this? (anyone ever even heard of this book?) and i have to say it was just awful. i don't quite know why i continued to read it. the plot was a standard plot. the story was not well written, the dialogue was cheesy. the most interesting characters, the two main vampires, were not explored at all, while the reader learns about the main char and her family, and these people are boring and not at all believable. the ending was predictable. and the main char's ex-husband comes back into the picture, and i know that i was supposed to root for these two to get back together and triumph over the vampires, but all i wanted was for the vampires to kill them...i mean put me out of my misery. and jeff (the ex) was such a whiney baby...i don't know what the main char. saw in him. talk about whipped...anyway, if you haven't read it...don't. trust me.

I liked it..I REALLY liked it!!
I saw a rating of "1" by another reviewer...and I couldn't beleive it!
As a fan of horror fiction, (Vampire fiction specifically), I thought this book wonderful!
You have a truly nasty, evil, vampire and an un-likely hero in the ex-horror novelist turned 'handy woman.'
The story is about a 'family' of vamps, who due to the actions of one of their own are forced to move away from their current home, to escape discovery.
They then settle into a small town and by the local, derelict, movie theatre and hire a woman and her father to fix it up...but
one of the vampires has a more sinister plan for the theatre than showing film...she wants to use it to trap her evening meals.
The story is fast-paced and very enjoyable. And, most importantly, you care what happens to the characters.
